Established in 1992.

The original guiding walking & hiking service in Palm Springs.

Trail Discovery has been guiding people for 2 decades to over a dozen scenic, outdoor locations.

Trail Discovery merged with Desert Safari in 1997. We have a flawless safety record, with all of our guides being CPR & !st Aid certified.

Scott has lived in Palm Springs for over 25 years.

With a deep love for the outdoor, particularly the desert, Scott made the choice to turn his love & connection for hiking & exploring into his profession.

A expert desert naturalist & avid mt. climber, Scott continues to lead many of the hikes & tours himself.

Teaching classes at the Living Desert, to local communities & volunteering, Scott & his experienced group of guides strive to make a difference in every person they serve.

Great hike of Ladder and Painted Canyon with Scott Scott. You definitely need a guide for this hike, you don’t want to get lost in the canyon. Scott was professional, personable and knowledgable. Great job Scott! Thank you for a very memorable day.

My wife and I were looking for a challenging «fitness» hike on our Palm Springs vacation. Scott took us on one of his favorite loops in the Indian Canyons, which included 6 hours /​8 – 9 miles of good climbs, scrambling and cross-​country travel. A couple of adrenaline-​filled moments for sure! It was exactly the challenge we were looking for! In addition to getting a great workout and scenic views, Scott provided us with interesting knowledge of the area, and overall provided a truly memorable experience. We will be back and can’t wait to do another hike with Scott!

Honestly, I’m not a hiker. Not even an ‘outdoorsy’ kind of gal… but this was the highlight of my trip– no kidding! I was in Palm Springs for some sun and relaxation, but Joshua Tree was only 45 – 60 min away so I decided to check that out. Scott made it fun, easy, and a great experience all around. He is so knowledgeable and professional, I always felt safe with him :) It was an incredible experience and one that I’ll never forget. I recommend it HIGHLY to anyone in the area. ~ LD

Fantastic! Scott is an easy guy to chat with and he is very knowledgeable about the Palm Springs area. He led me and my boyfriend on some great hikes in Joshua Tree National Park. He listened to our requests for difficulty, and gave us a few options on hikes and areas to see. He is very down to earth and we really enjoyed the hikes as well as hanging out with him. He very clearly loves the outdoors, the history of the area and the park. Definitely recommended.

Scott was simply outstanding. He knows the hikes to the smallest detail and delivered a fun filled couple of days for my wife and I. His knowledge of the history of desert and the corners of the hikes make this a must do if you want to get to know the desert environment and history of this truly amazing place in the world. Scott is a consummate hiking guide. He took us through the Agua Caliente Canyons where we did a little trail, cross-​country and bouldering. What an amazing experience! We had no idea that there was so much beauty and history so close to dowtown Palm Springs. Scott really helped us get the most out of the experience by providing us with a historical, cultural and botanical account of our surroundings. He is very well-​versed in all three areas. We will definitely hike with Scott again and recommend that you do too if you truly want to experience the outdoors in and around Palm Springs.
