Went way downhill… carne asada atop the nachos is now a low grade ground beef full of gristle(used to be shredded beef). When I told the waitress she smiled and left the table. Won’t be going back. Too many other places with decent food and fair prices here in Palm Springs.

You know Unilocal is a great resource for finding the best places in town to go but sometimes the reviews are not always fair. My family and i are on vacation in palm springs and we wanted a mexican restaurant to go to. Of course i get on my Unilocal review app. And had several restaurants on here to chose from but im glad we chose this restaurant. There mexican food and service was great. My son loved the breaded shrimp and wanted more. Keep in mind this kid is hard to please. It has a great atmosphere and is in a good location. My nephew had a carne asada torta and i had the camarones ajillo(which is a mexican version of shrimp scampi. It was delicious. This restaurant needs to be in the 5 star category. Im glad we went there and didn’t trust the Unilocal stars to much. Some times you’ll miss out on a great opportunity. I for sure will tell my family and friends about this restaurant. Great food great prices and great service. What more do you want. Will be back!

This place is soooooo good! By far the best cocktail shrimp I’ve had in LA, SD, and surrounding areas! It was so fresh! Not stingy at all with their servings! The mango and strawberry margarita were deeeeeelicious!!!

I just went to go have breakfast there. The service is horrible. The restroom are disgusting. No paper towels no toilet paper. The trash cans are full. When I brought it up to there attention that my son needed toilet paper they took their sweet time. Passing the buck on to someone else. I use to be a loyal customer. My food was cold by the time I got done dealing with this mess. It’s just sad how they can just blow off their customers like this. The service and the cleanliness of the restrooms was way better before they moved location. For lack of a sense of urgency I will never go back to this place again. I highly recommend any other Mexican restaurant in the area.

Have been to this place 3 times now, and every single time I’ve left disappointed. Their carnitas are horrible, the birria was worse and flavorless and a combination platter was extremely disappointing. I could only tasted the cheese. Definitely not a Mexican restaurant. Bathing things in cheese is not equivalent to Mexican food.

Don’t expect fancy décor. But do expect authentic Mexican food. Fresh salsas(two) with chips at your table. Friendly service. Clean. This might be Palm springs’ best burrito.

I was scared when I heard that the restaurant had moved. I thought that the menu would be changed. It was not. They still have Birria de Chivo en su jugo with cilantro and onions. And their tacos al pastor are to die for. Ceviche is good too. This is one of my fave places for Mexican food anywhere in the world. That’s saying a lot. The service is casual. Bilingual. I can’t wait to return in two weeks!

We order Birria and it was old. Now we are both sick. I will file a lawsuit if I don’t get better.

So, my colleagues and I travel frequently for business. And we’re always looking for the local places to eat. Iron Works in Austin, Atlantic City bar and grill in Atlantic City. It’s always going to be the better choice than the touristy places. So I find myself in Palm Springs this trip. I was craving some Mexican food. I mean really… When you’re in SoCal you look for authentic Mexican food. This place delivers the real deal. In this case, I had the Carnitas chimichanga. The meat is exactly how I like it, tender yet crisp in places. The rest of the fillings were not overwhelming which showcased the meat expertly. The salsa has some heat to it. It wasn’t overly greasy, and the portions were tremendous. What can I say, not bad for a hole on the wall type restaurant. This is definitely a must do again. Highly recommended.

This place is the Mexican equivalent of John’s — good, dependable food, friendly service, in a spacious, comfortable restaurant. They followed us to our table with chips and salsa. Chips seemed homemade. The salsas were pretty spicy but could have been better. We both had tacos — carne asada, chicken and carnitas. Carne asada was very good, nice pieces, not to dry. Chicken was ok. The carnitas were a little fatty. Both the rice and beans were excellent. Service was friendly and prompt except it was slow to get the bill. If I were running the place I’d follow John’s example and have orders placed and paid for at the counter(there is already a window for ordering and plenty of room for a line) so the servers could focus on delivering food. But I guess they get better tips this way.

OK so I thought this place was going to be great and authentic based on the name and the delicious salsa. But once we got our food the disappointment hit us. Everything was bland, no authentic Mexican flavor. Even the birria, which is literally meat in a chili pepper sauce was bland. Not one person in my family was satisfied with the taste of the food and we ordered everything from nachos, burritos, tacos(steak, chicken and cabeza) and birria, everything was bland. And to top it off the check never came so I just went to the cashier and paid there. Not coming back to this place.

Another great dinner at one of our favorite restaurants in Palm Springs. I had the chicken fajitas and my wife had the Camarones a La Mexicana. Both were very good and we took enough home for lunches tomorrow. Prices are very reasonable. Good service. In the past we’ve been disappointed by the margaritas, so we order beer and wine. Worn décor and a few torn vinyl booth seats add to the ambiance.

As a lifelong Coachella Valley resident, I have heard all the talk of «best» Mexican restaurants in Palm Springs. Las Casuelas, Mirasol, etc. We went to Las Casuelas Terraza two weeks ago. What a HUGE disappointment. Wow! Sure, lots of tourists, crowded bar, music outside. But, it’s about the food. Went to Mirasol years ago, never went back. Food wasn’t good, and not my type of crowd, if ya know what I mean. Taqueria Tlaquepaque is authentic, home-style food at it’s best. Just like your grandma and mamacita did it. The goat stew is great. My daughter had a chimichanga, very good. Pozole was good. Do your self and favor, and come here for lunch or dinner. You won’t regret it.

This was my first and last visit to this restaurant. While the food was good … I watched the waitress combine USED salsa bowls into new bowls and then she placed them on trays with chips to be served to new customers. I brought it to their attention along with the used limes and lemons … they didn’t get it, and denied it … GOODLUCK!

This place is the best for authentic Mexican food in Palm Springs. Prices are reasonable, food is super solid and service is always good. Don’t go to Las Casuelas. That overpriced tourist trap place sucks. Check out Tlaquepaque if you enjoy homestyle Mexican food. They are my favorite since I moved here from Tempe, AZ about a year ago.

All of the items were yummy and generous portions. We had all sorts of dishes: veg chimichanga, chx chimichanga, cheese quesadilla, shrimp enchiladas, shredded beef taco, faghitas, margaritas… All cooked perfectly with delicious rice & retried beans as sides. Not a fine dining restaurant but food is good & our server was prompt & knowledgeable too.

THE most authentic Mexican food in town. Granted, the bar is set very low here in Retirementville, but these are folks who know what they’re doing and have all the authentic stuff that scares most gringos away. I still wish they were in the old location, though. I’m not a fan of the new place and I’m *definitely* not a fan of who moved into their old location — but it’s a small price to pay to get the good stuff. It’s a must-do.

The only reason I’m rating the restaurant a 1 is because the customer service here is terrible. This is the last time I’ll be coming here. Food is great, but the girls who work here are rude and don’t even greet you as you walk in the door. And they even ignore you when it’s time to pay. Learn better customer service!!!

My wife and I took advantage of a 50% off coupon and went to Taqueria Tlaquepaque last Friday. Here is our review. Lots of parking. Although it’s not really pretty inside, it is a large restaurant with the tables and booths spaced well apart from each other so you do not feel jammed in… but don’t go there for the atmosphere. The service was friendly and efficient. Do go there if you like well prepared authentic Mexican food. I had the Carnitas, which I am a huge fan of, and it was some of the best I have ever had. It has lots of crispy bits but the meat inside was moist, tender and flavorful. Also, something very important to me, the beans and rice were wonderful. My wife had a Chili Relleno and enchilada and they were great too. We had written off Las Casuelas in Palm Springs years ago because the food was so consistently poor and overly expensive so it’s great to find such a great spot just a few blocks away. If you truly enjoy great authentic Mexican flavors do yourself a favor and give this spot a try.

I feel that this place doesn’t have the stars that it deserves. Was in Palm Springs for the day and hadn’t heard of the restaurant till we went to the rite aid next door. Wanted to try something new so we headed to this place even though we read some pretty bad reviews on Unilocal. We didn’t have one complaint about this place, the food was good, atmosphere was cool, music was good especially since it was a juke box. If definitely come back to this place when I’m in the area.

We were starving and craving Mexican Food when we hit the strip this past Saturday. Went to Las Cazuelas first, 2hr wait. Maracas was 90 minutes. We called here, and they told us to come on down. We were greeted by a friendly waitress with chips and salsa waiting for our party. I had a carnitas chimichanga and it was delicious. Husband had chili relleno burrito… The chili isn’t battered… But it was still good. Daughter had Carne asada Nachos and she loved them too. Horchata and Tamarindo waters were awesome. Restaurant is further down on Palm Canyon… Plenty of parking, restaurant has plenty of seating to accommodate big parties. Don’t waste your time waiting on the«popular» restaurants… You won’t be disappointed!

I ate here when at a recent conference. The tacos were really good. I ate lunch here for lunch with a work buddy and we liked it so much, we took a group back for dinner. The dark colored salsa was smokey, spicy and flavorful. I ate both al pastor and carne asada tacos. The asada was good and the pastor delicious. For dinner I had only pastor. They do have a wide variety of tacos including birria(goat). They have a large outdoor seating area with lots of shade. The service was friendly. I am looking forward to going back next year.

My neighbor brought me to this restaurant 19 months ago I had just moved to Palm Springs, this place was just a little hole I the wall but very flavorful I haven’t stopped coming ever since at least a couple of times a month… More like once a week hahahah… Really Now that they are in a bigger location and on the Main Street nothing really Changed, the flavor and the prices still as good as they were. Try the micheladas you will love them, they can always make them the way you like. The menudo, carnitas torta, alpastor tacos and fajitas are my favorite but everything is delicious. I just wish they had more variety of salsas they really need other good salsas. I have brought all my friends and family here and they all have been back so it must be good right? Enjoy

This place is great. One of the best, if not the best Mexican in Palm Springs. They recently moved from a smaller and a more casual location, so I had trouble finding them this visit at first. I love their guacamole and their basic street tacos. That’s what I come for. Everything is fresh and tasty. To the reviewer, April B., who supposedly is a Unilocal a Elite member, the reason they are empty is because it’s a new location. This is not touristy Mexican food, but more authentic in style and flavor. The menu is basic and right on. The service here is fast and friendly! I did prefer their old spot as it was off the beaten path and frequented by locals as opposed to tourists that don’t understand Mexican food.

Nice mom and pop Mexican restaurant. Plenty of parking because no one eats here. How do they stay in business? Maybe a sideline? After waiting with no one to help us, we finally found their menu ourselves. Not posted at the door or inside. Plenty of fast seating b/c the locals eat elsewhere which is better. Boring basics. We walked out after being ignored for so long and reading the boring menu and instead gave our money to Blue Coyote which was awesome.

I came here with my sister for dinner on a Saturday night at 6pm. We were seated immediately. There was a large party inside celebrating something, which gave it a nice atmosphere. Once seated, we were given complementary delicious chips and salsa. They give you a spicy salsa and a mild one, both of which were HUGE. For dinner, we each went with a burrito. My sister got the chicken burrito without cheese and I got the Chile Relleno. When they came we were shocked how ginormous they were. We only finished half of our burritos and got the rest to go. Both were very good. I like that they didn’t add too much beans and rice. I also ordered a horchata and that too was very big and tasted okay. Our total was about $ 15 with tip for our dinner for the both of us. For the portion size and how good everything was, I thought the pricing was decent and cheap. Other things on the menu included tacos, seafood items, dinner plates, fajitas, menudo, and breakfast items. I want to come back and try their shrimp cocktails. Definitely the place in Palm Springs for cheap good Mexican food.
