Wonderful small inn. The owners, Tim & Gwen, and their assistant, Rosie, were very courteous and friendly. We were very comfortable and really relaxed. Our room was ready early. The pool was right outside our door. Lots of amenities.
The Inn is in a great location, a short walk to Spencer’s and the Tennis Club, or a short walk to town. There was a refrigerator for our leftovers from Spencer’s.
This was our first stay. Hope to return soon.

I’ve stayed at many hotels during my lifetime, ranging from ‘ghetto dive’ to ‘ritzy-titzy’ and this place falls on the upper end of the scale.
I first stayed here 3 years ago, when Ed & Larry owned it, and when I found out they sold it earlier in 2015, I was afraid their genuine kindness and attention to detail would be lost. I’m happy to report my fears were dispelled. Check-in was a breeze and the new owners were just as friendly and accommodating as Ed & Larry. I was here in May (1 – 3) and August (7 – 9) and both visits were wonderfully relaxing. The amenities were unchanged with lots of freebies (snacks, water, juices, fruits, continental breakfast, lush beach towels, spray bottles for sunning) to lure you in. Plus, each room has a kitchenette and back patio to give the feel of a private vacation home. With downtown PS just a quick stroll away, Old Ranch Inn makes for the perfect weekend getaway!
The new owners have stepped into these very large shoes and have kept up the reputation of being the best boutique in town!

The BEST quiet weekend getaway. We went here for my birthday –August 6– for a one night getaway. Next visit will be longer for sure! The staff was extremely courteous and friendly. On our way there we received a call letting us know our room was ready early and we could check in any time! No one has ever done that before. The Inn is small with a zen quality that I totally loved. Our suite opened right at the sparkling pool. Our suite had everything you need we could possibly need, even a full size refrigerator. Even the courtyard had amenities for us water bottles, fruit and chips. These small touches were amazing. The continental breakfast was a bonus too. We love this place and can’t wait to come back. If you want a quiet peaceful, secluded getaway — this is the place to be. We are already planning our next visit and hoping to make it a longer stay.
Oh, I and I almost forgot to mention — parking was easy. The location is perfect!!! You can walk to downtown!!! The Old Ranch Inn is an oasis in the desert.

Great little Inn. We stayed here 7÷31÷15 — 8÷2÷15. The staff was so nice. I even got a call at 11:30 lettling us know our room was ready so we could check in early. This is a small quaint place. All the rooms open to the pool. The Pool was nice and clean. The rooms had everything you need including a fridge and microwave. The best thing I think, is the fridge they had in the courtyard fully stocked with water bottles, fruit and chips. They really care here about the little things. They also had a very nice continental breakfast each morning. I really like this place and can’t wait to come back. Again the staff was so nice. They really make you feel like you are home. Thank you to Old Ranch Inn. I hope to see you soon.

In Palm Springs… there are many places people tell you to stay… but this is a place you would love to stay! It is an 8 room «boutique» hotel with an amazing owner ! Driving from San Diego in traffic I was late… Called and no problem they stated drive safe and we will send you an email regarding check in. When we got to the property it was a breath of fresh air. Tim was so nice and I felt as if I was part of a family! Room 3 is amazing… the housekeeping deserves 5 stars! (she really deserves a tip!) A great continental breakfast… Water to keep you hydrated by the pool… and walking distance to the strip… if you want a big wanna be something chain. this isn’t the place for you… but if you want to take in the Palm Springs air… this truly is the place to be. Thank you Tim !

We really liked Old Ranch Inn. Adults only, good location. The room was cute and had a little kitchen. The only negative is the bed after 3 nights we just couldn’t sleep there another night. If the bed was better we would have stayed longer. The owners were great and we will go back for just one maybe two nights.

we have stayed here twice… once several years ago, and just this week. Ed & Larry are the best hosts, and the rooms are so nice and cozy. you just feel so comfortable being here, rain or shine. last time we stayed, we did take advantage of the pool, and met some really nice people. this time, we had cold, rainy weather, but it didn’t matter. the room (with a nice little kitchen and fridge) was so nice we stayed in bed and read books! it’s close to the main drag so you can walk to town and back easily, and love this neighborhood. would highly recommend this place to anyone, especially couples. i don’t think it’s kid friendly, which is okay with us. thanks, Ed & Larry… see you soon!

I recently stayed at the Old Ranch Inn and loved it. It is a cozy quaint small boutique hotel. The rooms are attractively decorated and comfortable. The location is perfect as you can walk to many restaurants and stores. Since we stayed here in the winter, we got a room with a fireplace which just put the icing on the cake. You feel like you are staying in a very private, exclusive home. The pool is in the center of the hotel and easily accessible from all the rooms. The owners are informative and welcoming.

I love this place. I found it on Trip advisor and my husband and i fell in love with it. Its our 1 yr anniversary and the owners made us feel at home the room we were in was like a bedroom in a house u forget u were staying at an Inn its very private only 8 suits and a private pool very romantic. The owners were so nice and very sweet. We are definitely making this our stay when ever we r in Palm Springs. If u stay here u will see what i mean very good for a romantic getaway.

I don’t know of another more welcoming, restful retreat that I would want to be at. Small, comfortable, relaxing, sheltered, private… all of this and more can be found here. I loved being able to walk right out of our room (#8 King suite) and into the balmy pool. The room itself is lovely and the kitchenette is great with a little private patio right outside. I hope to return here again and enjoy the amenities that have been so thoughtfully and lovingly provided by the hosts.

Really nice, affordable hotel in downtown Palm Springs. The owners are helpful and enjoy seeing their guests happy which makes the stay so much more better than staying at a chain hotel. Ed and Larry are great and don’t burden you with rules and don’ts. I appreciated that they made us feel genuinely welcome there.
I could have stayed at a resort, but I was avoiding loud drunken crowds over the Fourth and kids who pee in pools! The website was informative and I got the feeling it was best for adults and couples, so I booked and was happy I did. Notes: the majority of the rooms face the pool and this calls for socializing and making conversation with the other guests. If you are awkward or just shy know that if you are in the pool on a hot, summer day you will prob have to walk by, converse with other guests and swim right in plain view of others’ rooms. This was not an issue, but I can see how it can be with some personalities/cultures.
I liked that the rooms were very clean and that there was a mini kitchen with a cold refrigerator and kitchen supplies. We used the cups and wine openers! You can also hang swim towels (provided) and swimwear in the back patio to dry.
Other pluses were that it is walking distance to restaurants and shops, there is parking right in front of the hotel for guests and the A/C is strong! It had no problems being on ²⁴⁄₇ in 110+ degree weather in July! Other guests were really respectful and calm for a holiday weekend. It was a good find and a relaxing place!

I had a wonderful experience staying here last weekend with two friends. Ed and Larry are overly pleasant and accommodating. The amenities are lovely: all rooms have a kitchenette, private balcony, large bathroom, and comfortable bed. They let us hang out by the pool for as long as we wanted after check-out, and even brought us fresh towels and cool bottles of water! They also waived the two-night minimum for us, as we were only in town for one night. You really feel like you’re staying with friends here.

Planned a nice little weekend for my girlfriend and I in June. We knew it looked wonderful but it was even more great in person. Ed and Larry were the sweetest and most accommodating hosts. It was such a special weekend and I’d highly recommend staying here to anyone. You are just a few blocks away from Palm Canyon, you can’t beat it. You simply can not. We can’t wait to go back!

Love this place! Certainly one of the most comfortable and serene places to stay in Palm Springs (probably anywhere!). Ed and Larry are very welcoming and I felt like I had known them for years the first time I met them! The location could not be more perfect. A short walk and you are downtown, so you never have to fight the crowds to park.
I will definitely stay here whenever I visit Palm Springs.

Since our original review my wife and I have made the Old Ranch Inn our home-away-from-home. We seem to spend a weekend there nearly once a month. Ed and Larry are the family I wish I had. The minute we get there, get our hugs and put our bags in Suite #2 (Frank’s Room), a sense of calmness comes over me.
For the mature, quiet couple the place is perfect. The only low part of the weekend is on Sunday morning when we have to say goodbye. However, by the time we’ve finished breakfast, we already have decided on our next visit!!!

We just returned from a relaxing mid-week stay and I emphatically agree with the other reviewers opinions on the owners — they are wonderful! I don’t remember ever meeting hotel proprietors who are as genuinely friendly, welcoming and accommodating as Larry and Ed. Fresh fruit and coffee/teas by patio offered in the mornings, along with a complimentary local newspaper was a nice touch.
We stayed in king suite 6, which had a more secluded entrance, but also did not have french doors opening to the pool as most of the other units did. Our french doors opened instead to a small patio area with citrus trees. The patio area by the pool, complete with bar area and relaxing fountain is a tranquil spot to have brought-in lunch (main «strip» and restaurants just a few very walkable blocks away). The pool and surrounding patio area is prettily lit up at night, too — an evening dip in the 82 degree pool is refreshing to say the least!
Room was clean and comfortable — our only caveat is that the night-time reading lights by the beds may be just a tad dim for some. Otherwise, a great location and value.

My parents stayed here for two weeks recently and they absolutely loved their gigantic, well-appointed room and the friendly hotel owners who hot-footed icy bottles of waters around to all of the pool-goers on several particularly hot days and gently chided several out-of-towners for thinking that sodas were hydrating beverages. My parents’ room was amazing, particularly for $ 75 a night. Huge, comfy bed; large studio kitchen and a small two-top breakfast table; and a generous bathroom with a glass shower. The pool in the courtyard is small and intimate, and the other patrons who hailed from all over the world (generally from Europe) were taking harley tours through California, or celebrating 25^th anniversaries, or just happily getting away from the perpetually-terrible weather in London… and my parents loved getting to know their neighbors.
The hotel is located in the perfect location: far enough away from the main drag to be a completely quiet residential area by night, but close enough to the main drag to take in the spectacle of the Thursday Art Walks or the general paraon foot. The mansions on the hillsides illuminate their landscaping in a profoundly beautiful way and there’s a spotlight on the mountain as well that makes the boulders seem like a film backdrop.
I spent two nights here while my parents visited. One night I spent with them in their room, and they reserved a large suite for me on another night. The suite I stayed in was in the very front of the building, and windows faced the parking lot, the main door, the courtyard, and the alleyway. I would prefer a suite in the back of the complex, where it is quieter and feels safer and more removed from the world at large.
However, I’ll be recommending this spot to friends and family who visit from out of town. From the great restaurant recommendations from the attentive and flexible owners, to the immaculate courtyard visited frequently by tiny hummingbirds that buzzed the adjacent foliage as we swam laps in the pool, Old Ranch Inn is one of Palm Springs’ fantastic hidden gems.

Everything about this Inn is glorious. The rooms were warm, inviting and the bed was sumptious and comfortable. The bathroom was large and had everything you needed.
The little kitchen area — well stocked for coffee in the morning.
The pool was lovely.
Most of all, great guests who keep returning because Larry and Ed the owners are so wonderful.
Free dvd rentals.
Charming, cozy, clean and tucked away but near everything.
