Estrella Spa at Avalon Hotel Palm Springs

We did a couple’s package massage there that included lunch in a cabana. After doing a lot of research this seemed like a top pick for a spa day in Palm Springs. The package also seemed like a great deal. My massage gets five stars. But, there were just some odd things about this visit. Overall we felt sort of confused on how things were supposed to work with the spa, the package and the day and we could have been guided through the experience a bit better. We had to ask a lot of questions to get things figured out! A few things:
— The deal mentioned starting with a juice. We came to the hotel and got a juice before, but paid in the restaurant since we weren’t sure what to do, and the woman when I called just told me to get there about 15 minutes before.
— When we got to the spa, which is beautiful, the woman gave us a breakfast menu and asked what we would want for lunch. Wrong menu, and we weren’t given any details on how the special worked. Could we order drinks? Do we get an appetizer? Anything we want from the menu?
— All the photos I saw of the couples massage room had pictures of an outdoor patio with a private shower. That was closed off to us, and we were sent back to shower in the locker room, which was confusing. We couldn’t figure out how to turn the light in the steam room on, and nobody walked us through how to do that, and there is one shower so we had to take turns showering.
— The cabana was tucked away from the hot tub in the spa area (that had a kid yelling in it, not very relaxing). Also, nobody told us to bring suits if we wanted to use that hot tub so we had to pass on enjoying any of that.
So, overall, it could have been a warmer welcome and some more direction given. We go to spas often, and this one has the potential to be amazing with some help in the customer service area!

Wonderful services! My massage therapist was so awesome, she almost put me to sleep! They gave me champagne, and afterward I relaxed in the steam room with some eucalyptus. It was pure heaven!

I loved this boutique spa experience & getaway. The staff was very gracious & made us feel very welcome. I had a massage & it released so much tension. I should’ve taken advantage of the sauna. Bought a fantastic Madagascar vanilla perfume that I love! Definitely will be back.

This spa perfectly compliments the boutique hotel it is in-​hotel Avalon, used to be the viceroy. It’s hidden and cute and tucked into the downtown area of Palm Springs. There are very few signs on the outside so if you don’t already know where it is– you will have a tough time finding it. The hotel is hip and charming and the service is incredible. The Estrella spa is amazing its through the pool area where you enter. You are greeted by warm professional staff and the premises are kept immaculately clean. The style and décor is retro hip and very cool. There is a fireplace in a waiting area that is comfortable and your every need seems to be attended to. The massage therapists and the entire couples massage service was timely, efficient, pleasant and the skill level of the therapists was much higher in my opinion than what you might receive at a «Burke-​Williams» or another large corporate spa. My girlfriend and I had one of the best experiences we have received at any hotel or spa here at the Estrella Spa in the Hotel Avalon in Palm Springs. I would highly recommend you visit and pre-​book services at the spa.

This spa is a little gem. Clean, nice retail shop, friendly service. I got a facial and my skin was glowing after. After my relaxing treatment I relaxed poolside. For this price to have access to hotel pool and restaurant is amazing. I will be sure to come back and bring my girlfriends! Doesn’t get much better than that!

This is a great spa geared towards health and wellness. They use great organic products and you truly feel better than when you arrived. Every staff member I encountered in the spa was gracious and genuine from those that check you in to the manager running the place.
Massages are awesome and the room décor is elegant & chic. Do yourself a favor and visit Estrella, you will not be disappointed.

The spa is a classic in Palm Springs. They have recently done a little facelift to the grounds and the staff tell me that their treatments are tied in closer with Health and Wellness. I had the Mars body scrup and the facial. It was simply fantastic. The aromas used will sweep you away into paradise. Another perk is the option to purchase gift certificates. A perfect gift.

I have been coming to this hotel and spa over the past 3 years and my experiences have been quite different than the last few reviews.
I have had a couple of different gals who have done my facials and they are both very knowledgeable and caring about how they and I treat my skin regarding the changes in my skin over the years and the time of year.
I have always welcomed their recommendations on which facial treatment I should have and which products to use for my home care, whether it’s a product they sell or «not». I have never felt like products were being pushed on me and what «I do appreciate» is from the person working on my skin and who is kind enough to care about their job and inform me of what product are being used during the facial and how they are used. This is not «pushing» products, this is” being informed”!

It certainly sounds to me like these gals are definitely being over dramatic that have made complaints about this fabulous spa. If they don’t want to hear the truth then they should take better care of their skin and become «better informed» .
I have also experienced several massages and body scrubs by other therapists and the smell is always heavenly! I will continue to visit the spa on my trips to Palm Springs.

My experience is nearly identical to the women who reviewed about the facial. The facial was «eh.» The Facialist was pushing products before I sat down. She used essential oils on a hot towel, and I thought my skin was going to peel off.
I called the manager and got the mandatory gratuity refunded. She was very nice as was the girl at the desk.
There were four of us. Three of the four had terrible experiences.

We went to the spa for a girls weekend. First of all, we were sent to the completely wrong location for a yoga class. We ordered food an hour before our spa service and it never came in time! I don’t think it takes that long to make pancakes!!! It just didn’t seem like anyone knew what they were doing nor cared. It was a very disappointing experience.

Okay, so I have been debating about writing this and have decided to do so because this is truly a nice spa and I think the management needs to know what is going on.
Unfortunately, I had the worst facial of my life here. I am not trying to be dramatic but it really was just awful. My sister and I came in for treatments last Sunday and we had the same therapist, I am not sure her name, but she was plain and simple totally rude. She told both my sister and I that we needed to cleanse better because we had «a ton of blackheads,» like yeah maybe it has been awhile since I had a facial but that’s why we were there! She made both of us feel completely uncomfortable. We had gone out the night before and she kept commenting on how much caked on mascara I had on… I’m sorry I forgot my remover and did not think it was a huge deal, apparently it was because she mentioned it at least five times. The massage was rushed and rough which is usually the best part of the treatment! She just seemed to not want to give either of us the time of day. She asked me what products I used on my face and I told her, and she all but freaked out that they were not organic like the lines they use. I think someone really needs to talk to this therapist, or she will continue to scare business away from this very cute boutique like spa.
ps the ladies at the front desk, two blonde girls, were very sweet and welcoming. But they do charge an additional $ 15 charge if you are not staying at the hotel.

Great location and products. A complete spa facility for all your needs and having the option of an outdoor massage was refreshing.

This spa is to die for. I left there after a facial and massage literally floating on a cloud. The staff are friendly and professional, the spa itself is clean and beautiful with a fun shop in front. I bought a caftan and a Kelly Wearstler ring! The menu is pretty extensive but the staff girl was really helpful in assisting me to choose the right treatments. I will never go to a normal spa and just get the standard swedish massage, this menu was way cooler, and I will be here again next year for sure!

This is the place for organic, botanical & herbal skin treatments. The scents & aroma of the products are heaven-​on-​earth.
Each room is a delight — a beautifully designed treat. I just don’t have to stare at ugly acoustic ceiling panels. Hurray for that!
Staff is wonderful. We’ll be back!

If you love your neck, shoulders, hands and feet massaged you have got to try the Estrella Spa’s As Above So Below treatment! It is amazing! Rosy is such a great massage therapist! The facials are also AMAZING! All organic products are used which I love. Check out esthetician Audrey, she is very knowledgeable and has such amazing technique.
