Creative Beginnings Montessori Center

Caring environment, rigor, independence building, and professional staff. My 2.5 year old was orally counting to 15 after a couple weeks (previously it was prompted to 11). I highly recommend the school and I shopped around and a plethora of preschools across Coachella Valley. The hours, the cost, and staff make this an ideal school.

«Creative Beginnings Montessori» is a misnomer. By pre-​K (the year before Kindergarten) the curriculum is based on rote style learning. Montessori equipment is used but a majority of the time the children seem to be at desks to complete photocopied worksheets in silence. Art projects are few and far between and rarely involve the children’s imaginations. They receive large amounts of homework, repeating the photocopied sheets they work on during the day. Despite spending so many hours working this way, in my experience it was an ineffective teaching method. My child was not engaged and therefore did not learn much.
The «preschool» (²⁄₃ and ¾ year olds) years are better with no homework and more of a Montessori focus and more craft projects.
The teachers, particularly the owners, are very caring for the children.
The school is open long hours making it a convenient option for working parents.
