Gucci

I’ve been to a few Gucci stores, but this location is definitely my favorite. Lori is such a sweetheart and made my shopping experience memorable. I knew what I wanted, I didn’t see it on display but when I told her — they luckily had it in stock. And she also gave me a brief history about the product which I thought was super cool.
Beautiful store.

I decided on a white Guccissima Boston bag and a Black canvas backpack. I was looking for something specific (the lavender vintage web Boston bag) but they haven’t got it yet. She offered to let me know when it arrives but I declined because my girl in Canoga Park has me on her list.

I visited this store a few years ago and purchased some gucci collection from this store. The place is very clean and nice. The people are very friendly and helpful. She even lets my dog came in with us. I got some thank you cards from our sales person. So sad, she doesn’t work there anymore, but I’ll try to come back if I need my next Gucci purchase.

I didn’t buy anything here on my visit, given the competing demands on my wallet. So why the five star review? The short and simple answer: customer service.
While on our annual stroll of El Passeo, we decided to stop in and browse Gucci, just because we’d never been in there before. The store itself is quite beautiful. Product is artfully displayed, and the environment is very inviting. The product itself is drool-​worthy. If I could justify spending over a month’s rent on a sweater, for example, this is the place I’d do it. And the shoes – leather soft as butter! Everything is gorgeous.
While we were browsing we were approached by the lone salesman in the store. I expected to be bird-​dogged around the place, but I was wrong. This gentleman was extremely friendly, and very knowledgeable about all the stock on display. We just basically shot the breeze about the various products, and it was FUN. The guy knew we weren’t buying and he was cool anyways. Just about every other store in the universe could take a lesson from this establishment.

Who says that sales people in high end stores have to be a-​Holes? Unlike Louis Vuitton down the street, the folks at Gucci are very friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and accomodating. The Gucci brand speaks for itself, so the main point of this review is to convey the fact that a shopping experience here is a great one.

Had a great experience with the representatives at this location. Purchased a belt at the Forums Shop Gucci store in Las Vegas and had not tried on the belt at all until 14 days later when I got back home to the Inland Empire. I come to realize that the belt I was given at the Gucci Store in Vegas was not the same size that I tried on originally, because this belt was extremely loose. I started to panic because I was on my final day of return and thought that my closest Gucci store would be somewhere in LA, until my friend «Google» came up with this location. I called the store and the representative on the phone was kind and helpful. I took the near 1 hour journey to Palm Desert and when I arrived the two individuals working were very inviting. I told them that I called in regards to exchanging my belt for a different size, and although a different store got commission for the sale, they were still willing to assist me as if I were purchasing something new. I ended up getting a different style belt, since they had a style that was not available at the Forum shops 2 weeks prior. I also ended up with a new pair of rectangular aviator style glasses to prepare for the sun and upgraded my Pradas. If I would’ve known there was a shop here I would’ve purchased my G Chrono from the rep there as well, since he seemed to be more helpful than the reps in Vegas. I will continue to bring my business to this location.

This review is seriously overdue… as in, almost three months overdue. What can I say, I got a real job, as in one where working doesn’t only involve getting stuff done in four months a year and making passive aggressive comments to my dbag of a boss. Got that off my chest…
So Gucci is one of my favorite brands. But I hate Gucci stores with a passion because I usually get such ‘tude from the employees. You are not better than me because you work at Gucci — get a life. My Palm Desert Gucci experience was the antithesis of all of the others. Tanya-​Dawn could not have been nicer or more helpful. And there was no pressure to buy, just easy conversation and questions answered. Plus she had my friend Nathan figured out right away. Her tilted halo comment was right on the mark (see Nathan’s review).
So I bought the «Sukey» bag and have used it all summer long. It is so enormous I can even use it as an overnight bag, or perhaps to cart around a few small children. I even got a very kind thank you note from Tanya-​Dawn a few weeks later, which was super nice and unexpected.
Long story short — when I make my next Gucci purchase it will be at this location. Thank you Tanya-​Dawn :)

I’ve always listened to the words of patriarch Aldo Gucci:
«The bitterness of poor quality is remembered long after the sweetness of low price has faded from memory.»
Which is why, since I can remember, I have always adored Gucci. Whether I was being fitted for ready-​to-​wear in a private after-​hours shopping spree at the Via Condotti store in Rome, or grabbing some classic horse-​bit loafers at the Houston Galleria, Gucci has always been and – barring some unforeseeable fashion tragedy – will remain my favorite luxury brand.
So naturally, when Jen said she needed a large «work» bag for her new job in San Fran, I of course gravitated to the selection of Gucci at the El Paseo Saks. Although honorable mentions go to the Chloes, Marc Jacobs, and the Pradas we perused, she fell for a Gucci that was big enough for files, but still chic enough for everyday use. But we wanted to see if this «Sukey» bag came in black at the Gucci store.
That brings us to this Gucci boutique. It was just us, near closing time, on a breezy evening. The saleswoman, Tanya-​Dawn, came over, and there was an instant rapport. All three of us examined the Sukey bag which came in the brown monogram, but according to the catalog, not black. Disappointed, Jen said we could look around a little bit more for fun, but she had given up on the bag.
Undeterred, in hushed tones by the men’s belts I asked her the question: Well, why not brown? I told her the gorgeous bag she was carrying at the moment (with the most amazing silver hardware) was black; why not mix it up a bit with the brown? I also thought that it would work all year round; light enough for summer, but could transition into fall with no problems. We got Tanya-Dawn’s opinion, and she agreed with us. Jen had found her bag!
Tanya-​Dawn was sassy, fun, and she absolutely adored us. And it wasn’t in the transparent kiss-​ass way a lot of salespeople will be to you to hock their wares. She seemed to be totally impressed with our dynamic and was genuinely interested in our travel stories from SFO and Boston. She asked me about my relationship with Gucci and when I told her I had everything from belts to briefcases, silk ties to Chelsea boots, she correctly identified me as a Gucci «whore». When she asked about the Holy Spirit necklace I was wearing (it was Pentecost Sunday, after all), she said she liked it, but could tell my «halo was a little crooked». It’s like the woman has known me for years. Outside of the store, I could totally see her and Jen and I hitting the town, boozing it up, and utterly owning the clubs.
She also explained the origin of the name «Sukey». Gucci ran a contest to see who could give the most money to some worthy cause, and a Japanese woman won. The prize was getting to name a bag. She named the style of the bag after her daughter, Sukey. I wondered if I had won what I would have named my bag. Probably «Bitchface», for fun, but I doubt that it would have worked.
Checking out, she introduced us to her general manager, who was also friendly and made good conversation.
We all said our goodbyes and she wished us good travels. Just yesterday Jen called and said she had received the customary handwritten thank you note from our friend Tanya-​Dawn, including a line that said «…I loved meeting you and your travel companion, Nathan.» She remembered my name, even though I believe I said it once. A month ago.
This was one of the most down to earth and pleasant Gucci experiences I’ve ever had. It makes me wonder why they’re such snots in Houston when they’re so fabulous in Palm Desert. In any event, we’ll be back! Gucci – we love you!
