Sailfish Club of Florida

The Sailfish Club is a family oriented fishing club that happens to be the oldest private club in Palm Beach.

Food is good quality, a very friendly place to be.

When I found out I had to «bring something nice to wear» on vacation because we were «going to Nana’s club for dinner» I didn’t know what to expect. I mean, it’s in Palm Beach, which is expensive and stuffy and come on… it’s someone’s Nana for crying out loud. But even though men have to wear jackets and ladies have to wear dresses or slacks, The Sailfish Club manages to deliver a down to earth appeal that I’m sure most yachting clubs don’t.
I cannot comment on any club amenities other than the dining room experience, but what I will say is that if you know someone who belongs to this club, beg them to take you there for dinner. Or even lunch. You won’t be sorry.
My dinner was off the charts delicious. My Caesar salad was totally on-​point with lots of fresh Parmesan, the perfect amount of dressing and crispy croutons. But the real appetizer star was the bread basket. I kid not. The Sailfish Club serves the most awesome cinnamon rolls ever in their bread basket. Yes, we shamelessly asked for seconds on the cinnamon rolls. Shut up.
And dinner? YUM. I ordered the crab stuffed shrimp served with sugar-​snap peas and rice pilaf. Sounds pretty basic, but since the seafood was so fresh it turned out to be one of the most amazing meals to cross my lips. Plump, juicy shrimp stuffed to the gills with huge chunks of crab meat? Sign me up. Fresh, flavorful and fabulous!
And let’s not forget dessert. The chef prepared a sampling of chocolate stuffed poached pears, crème brûlée and chocolate mousse. All sinfully delicious.
While the food is amazing (as it should be at a private club) the location and staff don’t hurt, either. The view from the outdoor patio where we ate was simply breathtaking. I’ll take dining al fresco along the Intercoastal any day! And while the serving staff appeared to be super-​formal, they know when to lighten up and enjoy their guests, too. I think our server Daniel enjoyed the fact that our 93-​year-​old Nana was belting down vodka on the rocks and feeling his arm muscles.
And so it goes. Another lovely trip to Florida. I’ll be back for more vodka, fish and debauchery!
