History

Established in 1968.

Since 1968, Ob/​Gyn Specialists of the Palm Beaches has been at the forefront of providing quality healthcare to women in our community. Long recognized as the premier Ob/​Gyn group in the area, the practice has grown over the years to encompass twenty-​six Board-​Certified physicians, all of whom were trained at highly regarded university hospital teaching programs. Doctors in the group have included numerous department chiefs of Good Samaritan Hospital, St. Mary’s Hospital and Columbia Hospital. Dr. Peter Sherman and Dr. Burigo have served as President of the Florida Obstetrics and Gynecology Society.

In 1986, we brought the first certified nurse-​midwife to private practice in West Palm Beach. Many of our patients appreciated the opportunity for a more «high-​touch» birth experience. Now, there are seven certified nurse-​midwives with the group, along with two certified nurse practitioners who specialize in patient education and one-​on-​one care.

Business Owner

John A. Burigo, M.D. FACOG is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and practices at OB/​GYN Specialists of the Palm Beaches, PA, at the Jupiter and West Palm Beach locations in Southern Florida.Dr. Burigo’s areas of interest include advanced laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery, clinical research, and liposuction. He also performs minor, in-​office surgeries for sterilization and the treatment of excessive menstrual bleeding. He has a special interest in the treatment of menopausal symptoms with individualized hormonal therapy.

Dr. Burigo has been practicing medicine for the past 39 years and accomplished much of his education in the state of New York. He received his M.D. degree at New York Medical College and completed his OB/​GYN residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

When asked why Dr. Burigo chose this profession and what he enjoys most about his work, he responded, «the combination of medicine and surgery in addition to the unique specialty of obstetrics.
