Had to exchange a pump that was 2 years old but only used a couple of times.
Manager gladly gave us store credit and we got a new one.
Usually have a great experience here.
Good to know some companies still appreciate their customers!

BUYER BEWARE!!! I just spent over $ 10,000 on Innermost cabinets and appliances for a kitchen update. THEY ordered 2 cabinet incorrectly, leaving me with 2 exposed unfinished surfaces.
Their answer: apply a adhesive laminate skin. Despite my contractor’s best efforts, IT LOOKS LIKE CRAP! I just spent a ton of money and time to have my project be sub-​standard.
Integrity??? Product quality??? These are not in the inventory or mission statement for Home Depot or Innermost cabinets.
TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT

I must say this particular store was clean upon entrance, staff was friendly but did not knowledge our presence after standing there for about 3 minutes. cashier was on the phone instead. we went to cut some keys, service was fast after they knowledge us. other than that it was ok.

Anyone looking for a trailer should DEFINITELY consider going anywhere else but Home Depot in Palatine. No one knows what the hell they are doing or how to actually sell you a trailer. When I went to go get the thing titled I couldn’t because Home Depot didn’t fill out the paperwork so I had to go back and wait for someone to figure out what to do, unbelievable!

Awful customer service… I get treated like I am an annoyance when I do find someone to help me, usually in a different department than where I need them. I get it – this may not be your area, but do you have to sigh out loud when a customer, who has been waiting for a friggen plumbing associate (who was paged SIX times) never shows, asks a quick question? The least you could do is talk to her as a valued customer and maybe help her find a person who can help! I’m only writing this review after numerous experiences like this, all dealing with plumbing department. You can’t find anything in this department, and I’d like some advice so I don’t have to make several trips back and forth to complete my job (and I’m not looking for a toilet brush… I need to sweat pipes and fix things). I’ve finally had enough and will always try other stores first where I will be treated as a valued customer. As a side note, I worked for Home Depot a long time ago in the garden department in Chicago. There was NO customer service training… all they cared about was making sure shelves were stocked and areas were neat. People worked in areas of the store that they had little to no knowledge about… I’m wondering if this is where their business model is lacking. Put your customer relations first and make sure associates know their department and respect each other enough to not «disappear» during shifts so others have to do your job.

My one star of the store only goes to out to «manager» Greg. For someone who claims to be a manager, he really does a poor job when he runs the store. When I asked to see a manager, the person at the desk said he will be out shortly and I waited about fifteen minutes for him to show up. Had I been an attractive female, he would have probably made an effort. I am never shopping here again because of him.

This store is a disaster if you want to arrange for an installation; in my case a new front door. Back in August, we stopped in to arrange for a HD installer to measure and quote a price for a Front Door install. Lucky for us, they had just stopped charging $ 35 for the quote (you will soon see why it was a good thing). Several days later, the installer called us while we were out. I returned the call and got an answering machine, and left a message. Several days passed with no call back, so I called the HD Millwork Specialist at the store. He had them call me, and we set up an appointment. About a week later, the estimator failed to show up at the scheduled time, and nobody called until a day later. His phone died, they said! I arranged another visit by a different person, through HD’s own «Measurement Services». They said they would call the night before to confirm a time during the day when they would be there. No call by 5 pm, so I called them and got a «we are closed» message. The next morning at 7:45, they did call to let us know the time that same day. This time they did show up to measure the door etc. They said we would get the estimate within 4 – 6 days. Well, its been over 2 weeks and no call. So, we went to another source and they will get the contract. I will never bother with HD again. Oh, and while I was in the store the first time, I bought a LED bulb and got my credit card info stolen!

I’m moving across the country in a few sleeps and this Home Depot was super clutch for mint condition bulk moving supplies.
We were pretty set on beat-​up boxes that were on their last leg and we’d planned on just using those until it became super apparent that, like most any one who’s ever moved anything, we have more stuff than we’d realized.
A good rule of thumb when trying to gauge how much stuff you have and how much it’s going to cost to move it all is try to envision how many boxes it will take to pack all your stuff, then try to think about how much that might cost, then take both those numbers and multiply them by 10… at least… if you’re lucky, that way the final outcome isn’t so shocking.
We needed to grab some big, sturdy boxes last minute and various other last minute packing moving items and lucky for us they place a super friendly Home Depot representative right at the front of the store to greet and direct you, should you not be familiar with their layout.
I was pleasantly surprised to see the moving supplies all right up front just around the corner from the entrance and registers. All the various boxes, mattress bags, tape, tape guns, giant rubber bands, like 7 different kinds of bubble wrap, extra thick sharpie markers for labeling boxes… at that moment I felt the kind of shopping euphoria that’s usually only reserved for Target and Nordstrom Rack.
Also worth noting, you can rent equipment here to ease your move. Stuff like dollies is mainly what we looked into, but the only bummer is that there’s no prices online.
We ended up leaving with 4 large boxes, a big roll of bubble tape, a big sharpie and 3 mattress bags for $ 60… which was kind of a tough pill to swallow knowing it’s pretty muc all stuff that will get tossed (recycling, though) in the end, but I needed it all and it’s worth it to have the piece of mind knowing that the bottom won’t drop out of at least those 4 nice boxes we got from Home Depot while we’re moving.

This review is for the gardening section of this location.
Terrible, I have never been inside a store before where no one knows what they are doing. Every employee hired is not actually knowelgeable about gardening. I approached 3 people and then the third person finally paged someone, when she finally came she was on her walky talky the whole time, I had to repeat my questions several times and she never answered my question.
Management at this store has issues or I just came on a bad day. But why do you hire so many people to work at your garden section if they have no clue about gardening? Just trying to hire some high schoolers to give them a summer job? Very unprofessional

This Home Depot gets 5 stars from my husband and I for excellent service. We just moved into our new home this past weekend and stopped by this Home Depot Sunday (Mother’s Day) while visiting my dad… We were looking for 3 things: tile, carpet and bathroom fixtures.
When we went to the tile department, we were so confused about all the different tiles, what’s better, what lasts longer, maintenance, etc… Megan came to our rescue. She answered the million questions we had and knew it all. She was so informative, I was shocked to know this awesome woman knew so much about every single detail in tiles and their maintenance. THANK YOU SO MUCH MEGAN!
Next, we went to the carpet area. We had no idea about carpet. We started looking around and just feeling the carpet to see what we liked. Then I believe his name was Tom (or Tim-​so sorry if I get that wrong). He came up to us, asked what we were looking for and our budget and took us to the perfect carpets). He answered all our questions and explained the difference between some carpets and made our decision so simple. Again, another very informative employee! THANK YOU TOM (or Tim :/​)
And finally, we got to the bathroom fixtures. Gerry was amazing. He asked if we needed help finding something and he helped us find a nice brushed nickel faucet we were looking for. He was also such a sweetheart. He even got a little personal telling us some if his home improvement stories which I personally love when employees give their own experience and/​or feedback. THANK YOU GERRY!!!
THANK YOU 3 SO MUCH AGAIN! YOU GUYS HELPED MAKE OUR DECISIONS SO MUCH EASIER. BEST HOME DEPOT WE’VE BEEN TO WITH EXTRAORDINARY CUSTOMER SERVICE AND EXCELLENT KNOWLEDGE (and we live 30-​min away)… We hope Home Depot is really taking care of you!!!

I ordered a chest freezer that never worked, called to get a replacement and they refused. I then recieved a call from the manager and he said he would replace. I respect that.

Good customer service in processing my return today.

Living in a house, Home Depot is one of those places that is a necessary evil. I can’t imagine how much money I’ve spent there over the years. While I really prefer to shop local, the Ace Hardware store and other independents have really dried up since Lowes and Home Depot came to town, not to mention the expansion of Menards.
But, you can’t beat the selection and the prices are not too bad. I would say Menards has more informed staff, who know their stuff about their products and how to use them. You can find people at any Home Depot that know, but you have to really look for them and they typically are already helping someone so you must wait.
They have what you need, and if they don’t, you can always go online.

The store is like any other Home Depot, but what makes this location special is the people working here. They really know what they are talking about, and understand their products very well. I was speaking to one individual about pesticides, and I was giving him a hard time with tons of questions… the cool part was, he had answers for all of my questions, and he didn’t show any frustration.

At one time I was enjoyed going to the Home Depot, that has changed lately however. I remember when every one here was nice & friendly & had lots of product knowledge. Lately I have not had the best experiences here. The staff is either very friendly & very helpful or just the oppostie not really going out of their way to help you.
I asked an employee where an item was located & they replied with «Probably in aisle 15 & walked away. I understand everyone has their days where they don’t operate at 100% but this kind of disappointed me because I like Home Depot a lot.
I then realized when I kept comign back that the same thing was happening with more employees. They were either too busy or acted like they didn’t have time to help me out. Overall the Home Depot has a good selection but some times Ace Hardware is better for smaller things.
I will continue to go to shop at Home Depot because it is conveniant.

The staff at this Home Depot always seem eager to help. Tonight, I had to pick up a few simple items and take a look at some wood paneling for a project I am working on. On at least three occasions, I was approached by a staff member asking if I needed help finding anything.
Prices are usually competitive with the likes of Menards and Lowes but I think that Home Depot has a better selection of building supplies.
When I need something from a hardware store, 9 times out of 10, I go to Home Depot.

I’m conflicted. There are so many pros and cons at this Home Depot that I’m going to have to verbalize it a bit.
Pros:
+ Abundant staff — who are EVERY-​where you turn (& seem to travel in friendly packs)
+ Well Lit
+ Super helpful staff will lead you to whatever you need
Cons:
— Limited Paint Selection
— The prices of paints were higher than that of their competitors
— It’s super difficult to navigate the store/​find anything without help
— It was also hard to walk around because there were so many carts/​etc blocking the aisles
— Shelving/​space-​saving sections were a joke
In conclusion, they will receive a 3 out of 5.
They would have received a 2 out of 5 if I weren’t in such a pleasant mood.

As a slave for my parents this Saturday, I helped them dig holes in our garden, pour concrete, and install a fence. And although we stopped by this Home Depot three times in one day (8AM, 3PM, 7PM), everyone was über-​helpful and friendly.
We did spend quite some time trying to find good lumber, because a lot of the 2x4s were warped or curved, but everything else was fairly quick and easy to find. No lines at checkout was also a plus.
