Purchased a Groupon for no chip mani and a spa pedicure. Loved Joyce as well as how knowledgeable and what a really great job she did. No comparison to some of the other places that call themselves a spa or salon I’ve gone to trying to find a clean, relaxing atmosphere in which they really know what they are doing.

After living in Palatine for the last seven years and trying every salon I could find, I finally found a home with Arête, located in downtown Palatine by the train.
A friend of mine recommended Laura to me and I was very impressed with her. She understood how I wanted my hair cut and colored and did an amazing job. Before finding Laura, I thought that no stylist ever really ‘got it’. She was friendly and made me feel at home. The salon is beautifully appointed and a comfortable place to spend a couple of hours getting beautiful. I have had many compliments on my new hair style and color and am proud of recommend Laura to any of my friends.

I have been going to Barb for 20 some years and she really aims to please! She does a great job with color! The salon is beautiful! I drive a distance to come here but it’s definitely worth it!

I visited Arête Salon after purchasing a Living Social coupon, and I couldn’t help but thinking that you really get what you pay for. Let’s just say that I went there for a service other than a hair cut, and I was a bit disappointed. The woman helping me was actually very nice and friendly, but I wasn’t happy with the results. It wasn’t for lack of effort, but I felt the quality just wasn’t there. I was hoping to find a new salon for a sometimes expensive service, and yet I’m still willing to pay more if I can better results.

I’d been going to Nelson Group but followed Laura to Arête, which is literally a half block east, around the corner. Arête is a new salon, so it is gorgeous… exposed brick loft like space, very open and airy. Laura has a natural gift for color, cuts and styling and Dominika does excellent facials and waxing. Everyone is very friendly and attentive. Love love love this place!
