Love this store. It’s a really great store and I think I’ve not found what I was looking for only once. The only drawback, imho, is the price. I still try to buy there when I can, but I bought a pair of side cutters for $ 18 that Jaughin had for $ 27. I’m just not that rich. Really is a great store though, and I’ll keep going back for anything I can afford. Oh, and one of the guys is a wang, but the rest are cool so I try and talk to them if I need help with anything. Seriously, the one guy… I dunno, maybe his wife beats him or something, he’s a miserable SOB. Every time.

This hardware store is the place that time forgot. But in a good way. The only real knock on this place is the parking. If the restaurant next door is hopping parking can tend to get a little tight however there seems to be an adequate amount of private lot parking after all downtown Painesville isn’t quite as busy as one might think it is. The first thing I saw when I walked in the store was an old sled. It was the old style runner sleds that my dad had when he was a kid and had a couple of them for sale which is actually pretty cool. The floors are uneven and a creek but that’s what makes it cool. You can tell that this building has been around for a gazillion years and probably will be around for a gazillion more. You can find just about everything you need and wouldn’t expect in a hardware store at very competitive prices but they are a local company so if I need to do some shopping I’m definitely heading here. Here is the coolest part about this store it’s the second floor. There is everything Carhartt a man could want. And there’s nothing restricting or limiting by size even Carhartt for babies which is pretty awesome. The fellows that work there remind me of guys that would bust your chops just because that’s the kind of guys they are. I went there on a suggestion of a buddy I didn’t actually buy anything but I’m going to head back because I have some more serious man shopping to do this weekend!

Literally THE coolest place in Painesville! I was born in Painesville and lived there for 28 years. On top of being well stocked and full of employees who actually know how to help you, this place is like stepping into a time machine. I love the sounds the floor boards make and when I need hardware(nuts, bolts, washers, etc) this is the only place I’ll go. Do the world a favor and try to shop here instead of the big box stores whenever possible. We can’t lose this treasure! And when you’re done shopping, go down the street to the Mexican grocery and get some tacos!

Its a very friendly family owned hardware store in historic downtown painesville. The store is a little pricey compared to home depot, but if you need some hard to find hardware this is the place to go. This is the type of hardware store where there are actually people working that will help you find things and that are very knowledgeable.
