Saddle West

False advertising. Called and got one price arrived and was told another. Should have known this place was a mistake from that right there but I’m an optimistic. Specifically chose this place because it advertised online that there was free breakfast! Woke up this morning excited and hungry just to find out NO FREE BREAKFAST! THIS IS THE WORST PLACE TO BE AT WHEN PREGNANT! What really got to me was the fact that in our room was a wierd door that was locked. It made me feel like someone was gonna sneak in while i was asleep. oh and they say free wifi and it shows strong signal but it takes like 20 min. for a simple picture to load.

You could honestly die from staying here.
From blood on the blankets to the rudest staff, I was repulsed by this company’s behavior and unwillingness to let me speak to management. No refund. Paid for room to find out later the staff was not supposed to rent the room out due to private party. First, blood on the blankets. Called for new blankets and nobody came after 30 minutes. Took blanket down to front desk and was told, «What do you want ME to do about it» and was told to take the blanket back to the room. The party kept us up ALL night. No hot water. Broken remote. Requested refund and was told the manager would call. No call from manager. No refund. Absolutely horrifying experience. Staff with no training in blood pathogen related diseases. Hotel should be shut down until all staff can be properly trained and all rooms have been sanitized. Claims of WI-​FI by the way are completely false. The staff could barely access the internet. False claims, lies, unclean and not worthy of your money. Broken soda machine in gift shop also, just to rob travelers.

I read the reviews and was like what did I get myself into. I was going to avoid the restaurant yet I had a long day at a local training course so I decided to give it a try since I’m staying in the hotel. I ordered the prime rib with the New England clam chowder instead of salad. It was fantastic. The prime rib was perfectly cooked with little fat and the chowder was exactly what you would get in New England. The buffet had crab legs, shrimp, and steak and such and it also looked really good. The rooms are somewhat a flashback from the 80’s with large flat screens yet comfortable. Two nice pools and a good sized hot tub. Not bad at all. My dinner bill was $ 17.43. Real reasonable. I did pay for it with my American Express tho. Read about someone’s debit card being scammed yet they ran my card in front of me on my way out.

To begin with, the WiFi did not work in my room. The front desk’s explanation, «If your computer is more than 3-​years old it might not work». The computer is less than two years old. Secondly, there are no refrigerators or coffee makers in the room. No biggie if you don’t mind dragging yourself out of your room in the cold to walk to the front desk to get coffee. The matter of having no refrigerator would not have been an issue if there had been ONE ice machine that worked, but that was not the case. When the front desk was informed they callously responded that no one else had complained and to go to the restaurant to get ice. I should not have to leave my room to go to the restaurant to get ice. The restaurant gave me ice, but said they weren’t supposed provide ice for hotel guests. However, the bartender told me on one of my other frequent (irritating) trips for ice that someone told her the same thing a week earlier. Obviously, they knew but didn’t fix the problem. After one of those trips for ice I decided to just fill the bathroom sink instead of using the tiny bucket they provide, only to find out that the stopper in the sink would not go back up once it had been pushed down to hold the ice. Thus, brushing teeth, washing face, or just getting a cup of water took place in a sink full of dirty water. Finally, BED BUGS!!! The room had two queen beds. I slept in one bed the first night and woke covered in bed bug bites. So I moved to the other bed for the remainder of my 5 night stay. The other bed only yielded a few bites, but still completely disgusting and unacceptable.

I have now stayed in the hotel and the RV Park of this place. They are both garbage. I’ve eaten the buffet for breakfast and dinner, both garbage. I’ve played in the casino, old crappy machines. I’ve dealt with the staff, they are ignorant, rude, & just plain dumb. This place is pathetic. Go across the road to Pahrump Nugget, in every way it is 100x better. If you need an RV park, again, go down the road about a mile or so to Wine Ridge.

The room was decent enough and I enjoyed it for the one night I stayed.
The check in was a waiting experience as the front desk clerk is also the phone operator among other job duties. In a property this size, the front desk clerk shouldn’t be the hotel operator.
I too was also surprised by the $ 100 charge on my card which wasn’t exactly disclosed at check in. It wasn’t until check out that I was informed.
Also, the bed had the appearance of having been slept in as the middle of the bed sagged from obvious wear.
All in all, it was a satisfactory experience. Once the bed is replaced, it will make up for some of that.

I’m appalled by the customer service we received! It is no wonder so many reviews on here are horrible. Carmelita was the one to «help» us check in, and if I was a competent manager I would have fired her. Front desk is one of the most important first impression about a business. You are the face of this hotel and if our credit card wasn’t already charged prior to my check-​in, there would be no way in hell I would’ve stayed! She was rude to us but even to customers calling in on the phone. By the way Carmelita, You should never answer a customer’s phone call by yelling «DO NOT CALL THE FRONT DESK AGAIN!». Who the hell do you think you are?
With that aside, the courtyard looks very nice from the outside. Upon entering the room, it does look like the picture posted but no picture can describe how hard and uncomfortable the beds feel! Lol It felt like cardboard. However, we are so tired from our trip that we’ll just take anything at this point.
What they do fail to let people know is they charge $ 100 deposit once you check-​in by card only! Wished I had known prior. If you don’t have a card they won’t allow you to stay EVEN if you had already paid online for your room prior to check-​in.

This place should be last on your list of places to stay. Check in staff is rude and just didn’t give a crap about customer service. The whole place smells like a stinky ash tray too. There’s not a lot of places to stay in town so if you need a cheep room, you’ll get exactly what you pay for here.

All in all, a fair exchange, reasonable rate for room BUT be my only issue is the charge an additional $ 100 beyond the cost of your room, it simply is NOT clearly disclosed.
I stay in a number of hotels regularly and I am aware of holds and charges.
I will also note while Mary was a little hesitant to help, she got Lynn to help me out and she was great! I will stay again, now knowing their policy.

My husband and I spent the evening gambling at this casino and then purchased a room to avoid a commute back to Las Vegas that evening. To our surprise we received an 11 AM phone call advising us that despite our request for a late check out, we needed to be out of their room immediately. I politely advised the unpleasant woman on the phone that we had checked in late and spent the evening in their casino pouring money into their machines. She remained silent and then repeated her statement that we needed to get out of the room immediately.
The room was ok but the carpet was disgusting, the tv remote did not work and the comforter on the bed has probably NEVER been washed… ever. The check in process was a joke and could have been made much faster had we been checked in by a 4 year old… as the 4 year old would likely have been more intelligent.

No fridge, no microwave. The buffet is always closed. No table games.
They asked if I was going to Front Sight and I said yes. So they said if you are going to Front Sight there is an increased rate and charged me an extra $ 10 a night. I guess they’re anti-​gun.
Wifi works now. Plus two stars. All I really need is a pillow, a blanket, water, and wifi to live.

I’ve barely been here an hour and I am not sure where I should begin this review at. When you are taking a road trip with your dog, finding a pet-​friendly hotel can be a challenge and I never have high expectations when checking in. However, I do expect that the room I am given wont be infested with ants.
At the Saddle West, all of their pet friendly rooms are required to be smoking rooms. Fine, I smoke, I’ve got no problem with that at all. What I do have a problem with is the fact that I was told if they found any dog hair on the bed that I would be charged $ 50 out of the $ 100 I had to put down as a «retainer fee» to be sure that my dog wouldn’t destroy the hotel room. I get it, dogs can be incredibly destructive and not all owners are good owners. Anytime I have to put down a «refundable» deposit, I automatically expect not to get that money back. It doesn’t matter if I diligently keep my 10 Ib short-​hair dachshund off the bed or not. They will say that they found dog hair. They will claim that some obscure damage that was already done was done by my dog.
And let’s face it, these rooms are disgusting. Smoking rooms are always nasty. They smell and everything is nicotine stained. Trust me, dog hair on the sheets which have to be stripped and washed anyways are the least of their worries!
The first room I was given, 127, was actually a non-​smoking room and had ants all over the bathroom and the computer table. Who knows what they were after. It says a LOT about their maid crew though. When my husband went to the front desk to complain they said they would send someone up to spray. Are you serious? Spray ant poison in a room where people have a small dog and will be sleeping in the next couple hours? I’m pretty sure all pesticide says that the premise should be vacated for a set amount of time while it dissipates. When asked if the «spray» was safe for pets they didn’t have an answer.
Also, please don’t claim to have «free WiFi» when the WiFi for each building can’t maintain a connection for more than two minutes. At the very least put takeout menus in the rooms so I don’t have to spend 30 minutes searching for something to eat on your crappy internet.
So in short, I never expect a «pet-​friendly» hotel to be a five star resort. For $ 60 a night I just want a clean place for us to shower, sleep, and explore the town. I can’t stress the CLEAN part enough. I know you get enough revenue from your casino to pay a half-​way decent maid.

I have been staying here over the last 4 years when visiting front sight. This time they refused me a frig to store my insulin. I cacelled the rest of my reservations for the year and will no longer stay here

Their buffet breakfast is good. They have fresh waffles and omelets. The cheese blintz and fruit cocktail with marshmallows is very good. Service is very good. I don’t like their pancakes, because they’re always hard.
Don’t forget to play the slots because if you do, you get free buffet tickets. Good luck!

Every time we visit the Saddle West it hits an all time new low.
A once fantastic casino with a great 24 hr kitchen, amazing, fun employees, Jack Daniels bar, is now just another in-​defeat slots bar with death sucking on a lifesaver scary customers and creepy employees.
No more table games, the bartenders are poker faced day laborers probably pulled out of the housekeeping dept. The food slop chute is now bankers hours and the food sux.
Tightest video poker and slots allowed Nevada by state law, and that’s tight!
You’ll lose your money fast here folks.
The Saddle West is depressing to visit. Last night was the last time we’ll come in.
It’s all over. So sad to see it fail.
Play and stay elsewhere.
The Best Western across the street is nicer, much cleaner and offers more for your money.

Things never got any better with this hotel since my last review. What a disaster! Run away from this hotel and casino.

Regarding the buffet at Saddle West, the Silver Spur: Two stars about does it. The food quality is pretty poor and so is the selection. Their salad bar and dessert bars are okay but everything else is just cheap and limited. Two stars instead of one for the effort and friendly staff.

OMG! This is what I get for complaining. DO NOT USE YOUR DEBIT CARD HERE. Used my debit card to eat at their horrid buffet. It was like $ 12. Let the waitress take my card to pay and then she brought it back to me with the little slip to sign. Left Pahrump, made it home. Get a call on Wed (left Pahrump on Sunday) about charges in Barstow, Ca while I was also charging in Anaheim. Needless to say my debit card was duplicated. Thing is… I ONLY used my card at the Saddle West Restaruant and then did not use it again until I was back home. The bank immediately shut my card off. But this restaraunt tried to re-​run my card on the 28^th. $ 1.00 for credit, $ 1,00 for debit. That was 2 days after the card was shut-​off. And I left Pahrump on the 23^rd. They tried to re-​run my card on the 28^th.
I would be leery of even going back to this establishment.
I did call and let the Casino know about this issue. They seemed somewhat concerned but not concerned enough to really do anything. Kind of chalked it up to a problem with their POS system.
Ha. Next time I will not complain just pay the bill and leave.

Disgusting
This place stinks to high heaven. You have to walk through the casino to get to the reservation desk. By the time you get to the other side of the casino your clothes and hair reek from the smoke and your eyes are burning.
The lady at the check in desk was pleasant enough. You have to drive around the block to to get to the hotel rooms.
We stayed here for one night. The room was ok, not great not horrid. We asked for a non-​smoking room and while the room didn’t smell of cigarettes, it didn’t smell very good either. It smelled faintly like a locker room. The beds were comfortable but the mattresses were covered with plastic that crinkled when you moved. The towels were very thin. The TV remote did not work. There was no refrigerator in the space where one should have been. The wifi was very weak and kept cutting out.
The dinner buffet was overpriced and the food was horrible.
The free breakfast buffet was a bit better.
The problem with eating in the restaurant is … you have to walk through the casino to get there and some of the smoke fills the restaurant too.
When we left we had to put the clothes we wore while we were there in plastic bags so they wouldn’t stink up the car.

I have this more stars last time I was here (4 months ago). This time the breakfast buffets was horrid! It tasted like powdered eggs, the sausage was disgusting and everything seems froze or packaged.
Room was okay — pretty clean.
The rest of the hotel needs someone with a keen eye to go through and clean up junk and crap that is everywhere.

Eh, dining options and good food in Pahrump are really limited.
We were seating quickly, didn’t eat off the buffet, limited menu, the food was just mediocre, service was average… eh, nothing to write home about.

My mom gets coupons for free buffet from friends occasionally, so she decided to take me and my boyfriend here a few times these past couple of weeks. We had the Friday seafood dinner, the Mexican buffet on Wednesday, and the «All American» on Thursday, which is more like a Thanksgiving dinner.
AND LET ME TELL YOU, INNOCENT Unilocal ROAMERS, THIS BUFFET, REGARDLESS OF THE DAY IS ABSOLUTELY AWFUL! Below I will list several key point that makes this the worst buffet that I have ever attempted to eat at.
The wait staff is not attentive. They don’t care and neglect to come check up on you through out your meal. My drink was almost always empty each time I came here. I even saw several waitress/​waiters look at the empty drink on my table AND THEN WALK AWAY.
The buffet is dirty. Not just the counters, but the food too. I honestly thought a bowl of tarter sauce was potato salad because of how yellow it was. Also, one time the bacon in the condiment bar was so greasy, that it formed one giant clump. That giant clump then transformed into a hideous beast and I witnessed it attack a young child. TRUE STORY.
They don’t keep the buffet stocked. There are always a few chefs from the back who do nothing but screw around behind the buffet and chat up with unwilling customers, while tons of platters remain empty. The condiment bar is always out of stuff. ALWAYS.
The food just isn’t good. It’s always soaked in a gross looking liquid and the buffet isn’t balanced. 6 plates of meat and one side of green beans, WITH BACON I MAY ADD, doesn’t work out well.
It baffles me how people PAY for this buffet. I’m getting in for free and I don’t even want to go.
If you are willing, drive up to Vegas and go to the buffet at the red rock. It’s around same price and 10 000 000 times better.

It pains me to write reviews this low, but here is my reasoning for only 2 stars on the Saddle West…
On the outside, Saddle West looks great. My in-​laws, husband, and I thought the grounds were beautiful. And talk about some large roses! They adorn the entire property in almost every color you can think of for a rose.
The pool was freezing! Even on a 95+ degree day! I couldn’t believe how flamin’ cold it was. Because I was pregnant at the time, I could only put my ankles in the hot tub while the rest of my family enjoyed a dip. Nonetheless, the hot tub and the pool were both clean. My husband pointed out the sign near the gate, though… I believe it said no children under age 12 allowed in the hot tub. Crazy. And I believe that is a Southern Nevada health requirement, but don’t quote me on that. Another thing that aggravated me was I had to walk all the way back to our room to get towels there. I thought for sure there would be towels at the pool, but I was sadly mistaken.
To even get to the «front desk» you must walk through the casino… meaning through all the flamin’ smoke and gambling addicts. I know, that’s part of the culture in Nevada or whatever, but c’mon folks. At least design the building a little more conducive to common sense. It wasn’t exactly easy to find this supposed front desk. When we did arrive at said desk, it took forever for the lady to make our transaction and supply my husband and me with room card keys. After that, parking was a breeze. There was plenty of it near our room.
For our room… Very spacious. It was a king deluxe room, I believe. Fridge included! Everything was neat and tidy, but the bathroom wasn’t free of some long pieces of dark hair. :(Neither of us have long dark hair. Anyway, I got over that. THEN, later that night after we settled in and right before I showered, I saw two lovely (sarcasm) cockroaches scattering across the bathroom tile. Ugh! I hate bugs of any kind, but cockroaches are soooooo incredibly easy to get rid of. My mother-​in-​law suggested that we leave the light on and shut the bathroom door at night. That’s such a flamin’ waste of energy, though. Why can’t Saddle West just spray for these disgusting creatures in addition to the black widow I saw outside of another stayers room? Whereas this is one black widow, surely she has an equal nemesis nearby or a few babies ready to hatch, right?
We did not try the breakfast here. I figure it would have been smokey in that area as well.
While this place was affordable, I think if I had to stay the night in Pahrump again, it would not be here even though we had high hopes.
Another mishap… When I called to make reservations, they had told me that they would have to call me back within 24 hours to see if a king room was available. Their website said it was available, then I tried to secure it online and it wouldn’t let me so I had to call them. This was 4 days before we were to arrive. I know that’s not ample time for most places, but we didn’t think Pahrump would be this hoppin’, ya know? Story made short, I never got a call back. Got aggravated. Called them back. A lady on the other end of the line apologized and basically complained outwardly to me that the other person should have just taken care of them when I called initially. While I agreed with her, I didn’t think it was professional to say that to me.
Here’s hoping things have changed since we stayed there in May.
