Went into the store this evening with my children. They were having a sell on bargain books buy 2 get 1 free. My children and I picked out multiple books from the bargain books section. I have shopped at many books a million and know typical bargain books have a red sticker so I sent my son to ask a cashier if a book was an actual bargain book the young lady assured him any book ending in 97 is a bargain book. When we went up to pay all the books were ringing up full price I questioned the cashier about why the books weren’t bargain books the 97 just means they won’t be reduced any further so when I told her what the other cashier told us she told me she didn’t know what she was talking about. I again asked why they didn’t have to honor the 80% discount advertised with the books being in the bargain section. The rude cashier then asked a manager for help over their walkie talkies. He was even ruder than the cashier and obviously could give a care less about his job or wether we bought anything or not. He finally came to the front after a fairly long wait he never even stopped to talk to us or the cashier he just walked by and shrugged and continued to walk by. The first cashier we spoke to came over and tried to help she even went and got a few of the books from the bargain section telling the rude cashier the bargain price should be honored she continued to argue with her. The rude cashier finally began to give the discount on books that ended in 97 but other books with many books in the bargain section she wouldn’t give us the discount. Any other store honors a price if it has been marked incorrectly and multiple items are there. Even my children were totally disgusted by the incompetence and my son was the first to say if they can’t do what they’re supposed to I don’t want any of my books. So after 2 hours in the store and with at least 30 books on the counter plus several other items we walked out of the store without one item. More importantly I’m to the point I’m not sure I will go to any other books a million in the future. We have always bought many books from books a million when we get to go to one because we don’t have one close to our home. I’ve also bought many items on line but this store and these employees have ruined my impression of this company. There’s to many other book stores and other options for buying books to have to put up with such nonsense. Sadly books a million lost a loyal customer tonight!

Books-a-Million isn’t a fancy place, so why did the young lady cashier have such a bad attitude? I understand the air conditioning was out and it was warm and muggy inside, but did she have to take it out on my magazines by slapping down the bag of magazines after I’d been rung up?

Books a Million is a great place to go to find a good book, study, or a meeting place for business matters. There is outside seating, drinks such as coffee, and snacks. Anytime we have gone in there, the employees have always been very friendly and accomodating, regardless of if there is a group of 10 of us and we only bought a few drinks, or I have gone in there to buy a book myself.
