Do you want to eat real authentic Mexican food or just delicious Mexican food? Because this place is authentic as possible, but unfortunately it’s not really that delicious. Authentic doesnt always mean good or delicious. Cooking with lard maybe ok at grandma’s house but not at a restaurant where you make people sick. Lard is extremely heavy and not everyone can stomach it. It’s a cheap product. Keep it at abuela’s house please. As I walked in this restaurant I had the feeling of walking in to an almost broken down restaurant in TJ. Service is extremely slow, it’s family run. Idk why but… all the lights were off. why? The seating couldn’t get any tackier. An establishment like this will only get its regulars and progress is less seen here than in N.Korea. I will not be visiting this place anytime soon. On a good note, they have«A» rating and they’re natural juices are delicious.

This place is amazing! The food is great, beans are as good as my grandma makes them. Authentic Mexican food. They even have café con canela. The ladies there are super nice. I love going in the morning for a breakfast burrito(they will put anything you want in it) and a café con candela. This place is awesome and the prices are super reasonable. GREATQUALITYMEXICANFOOD. In case anyone is wondering, I am Mexican and my family is from Jerez, Zacatecas.

For today I’m having chorizo and egg. With chorizo not mixed with my eggs over easy. It looks like they have pozole on Saturdays at 5 pm every Saturday. I have to check that out. Yuk

Very authentic restaurant, the food is great and for the most part consistent. Even though I grew up in the valley my parents raised me very small town so this food and venue is right up my alley. If you are looking for very authentic Mexican home cooked food then this is the place for you. «Restauranted Maria» always reminds me of visiting my grandparents in Mexico.

I too don’t know what people are basing their ratings on. The food here is amazing. It gives you that feeling of «grandma cooked my meal». The portion sizes are great and it’s a good meal for your buck. I recommend the chile verde plate. It is very tasty and not to spicy. The serve pozole there on certain days and it is amazing as well. Yes the place is a bit small and usually full and it’s a bit of a wait at times but well worth it.

If you have time to wait then this is the place. I have been here before and always know that the service is not fast but the servers are nice. It seems that more recently the food had lost its unique flavor/quality! I’ve never cared about the way the place looks, because food was great… I’ll have to re-think about coming here again… it’s too bad, not many places in the area!

Decent size portions and they bring you out sliced avocados with cheese slices(not too many restaurants do it) But this place felt like I was eating out of my friends grandma’s house, and grandma’s kitchen isn’t always well kept.

The worst menudo I have ever tasted !! I took 2 bites and I couldn’t take anymore Service is horrible place is cramped I don’t know how they have so much clientele Been here a couple times food seems to get worse every time if it wasn’t for the hot Latina girl I flirt with I would never come back.

Small, random hole in the wall. The birria was good. The menudo not so much. Everyone raves about it but my bowl smelled like dirty cow… I’ve had better.
