Soft Tissue Medical Center is a state-​of-​the-​art treatment and physical rehabilitation center that specializes in Neuromuscular Re-​education (NMR), an innovative and effective treatment of acute and chronic pain and sports related injuries. Soft Tissue Medical Center pays great attention to the complete anatomy and to the nature of your injury. Sessions range from 30 to 45 minutes and are performed by Dr. Payan and his highly trained associates.

Once the patient has completed their prescribed NMR protocol, they are instructed in specific strengthening and flexibility exercises to further stabilize and maintain their results.

These specialized services not only benefit athletes, but individuals suffering from neck, back and extremity pain; chronic tendonitis; muscle strains; whiplash; repetitive stress due to improper posture and lifting; and many other musculoskeletal conditions.

History

Established in 1990.

A native Californian, Dr. Anthony Payan has been practicing chiropractic medicine for more than 20 years. In 1990, he moved to the Monterey Peninsula and opened Soft Tissue Medical Center, a practice founded on the fundamentals of Neuromuscular Re-​education, flexibility and exercise. Dr. Payan offers patients attentive care providing the best in soft tissue treatment and one-​on-​one physical reconditioning protocol.

Prior to graduating from UCLA in 1984, Dr. Payan became involved with power lifting and bodybuilding. His real interest in chiropractic medicine evolved from the treatment he received after a serious weight lifting injury to his lower back. His recovery led him to attend Life Chiropractic College-​West in San Lorenzo, Calif., where he received his degree as a Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) in 1988. As a certified strength and conditioning coach and personal trainer, Dr. Payan is an expert in his field; he is also a National Sports and Performance Conditioning Specialist.

Anthony M. Payan, D.C. really cares about his patients. Over his 25 year career, he has developed his own unique rehabilitation program that really focuses on overall health. He is the father of Soft Tissue treatment. His techniques have been adapted by many chiropractors and physical therapists, but he is the best. What sets the center apart from other physical therapists and chiropractors is that we have a medical doctor on staff. His name is Richard W. Tezak, M.D. and his role is to prescribe any traditional medicine that will aid in recovery. Together, Dr. Payan and Dr. Tezak are capable of providing unparalleled care for patients at this center.
