who knew surfboards smelled so good? well ok, it was the waxes. eclectic mix of casual gear, leather accessories, surf magazines and a surfboard lined wall… my fav part was the surf inspired artwork. there were some really great pieces. the music was cool too and they had dvds and cds for sale. dive on into this little surf culture cove.

Sweet shop! Killer boards to drool over. So cool to chat up Chris, the owner, who knows a bunch of surf history. Support our local SD heritage, support indie surf shops!

Chris Rule I hope I got his name correct, opened this a while back, and I think he has done something that is remarkable, his gallery/surf shop hosts some of the best surf artists, and he is quick to throw a party at it, my only only neg is that he is so swamped on the event nights that you literally have to get there really early. I have made small purchases and as I was Unilocaling away today, I just realized I was wearing a surf indian Tshirt I bought way back so I decided to do a most deserving review!

This isn’t your run of the mill surf shop where you see 95 million of the same t-shirts and shorts and you can be safe knowing if you buy an item of clothing you probably won’t run the risk of bumping into too many people with the same thing on. I loved Surf Indian the minute it opened 2 years ago with the art gallery and, in my opinion offering a much needed haven in PB! I have bought original art work and prints, that have all been super reasonable and a great opportunity to support emerging artists in the genre. Each art show has a great opening which have become one in one out and I’ve seen live music and film premieres at the space. Now the shop is open two doors down and they are constantly bringing in unique items everything from clothing, wetsuits, bags, a great dvd selection and beautiful boards from the likes of Skip Frye, Tyler Hatzikian, Mast and many others. I’m certainly no pro but i love to surf and get somewhat involved with the culture. Chris the owner is super nice and will hang out and chat with you and tell you all about whats going on. The best thing for me here is everything placed in the gallery and the shop is carefully curated, not just plonked in to get a fast buck! Highly reccommend, even if just for a browse

This is such an awesome little surf shop, and it’s unique too. I love the clothing they carry, it’s not your same typical surfshop clothing. It’s one of a kind, artistic~and if you buy something there, you’e not going to see a million people wearing the same shirt. The owner Chris is really cool :) great energy! I even saw Skip Frye in the shop last time I was there. They have a couple of his boards for sale ;) Check them out! The artwork is wonderful, I wish I could buy up the whole store haha

This is such a quaint little gallery. I had the chance to check it out for the Tyler Warren show opening night and it was so much fun. We purchased some prints and also met some fancy surfers. The shop itself is pretty tiny and got really hot after the gallery filled up. But they had chilled wine to cool us off. I also helped myself to a few pieces of cheese. They had a DJ that was spinning the night away and they were more than helpful about picking up our prints the following week. I will attend more shows here. It is a breath of fresh sea air and what more could you ask for: good art, great company and wine to wet my palette!

I’ve always drove by and just never stopped in. But I finally swung by last night after surfing and great shop. Chris, the owner is super cool and fun to chat with. Great selection of DVDs, books, art, music, etc. He has a vast knowledge of everything from the obvious surf and art, but also design, vintage furniture, movies and more. Visit.

Granted, I’m a little biased since I just had a show here… but what a cool venue for people that enjoy art and surfing. San Diego’s first surf-art gallery right in the heart of Pacific Beach. Outdoor surf film screenings, affordable and high end surf art from folks like Cyrus Sutton, Skip Frye, and Andy Davis. Good stuff. Check it out.
