I love this salon! I’ve been coming here for a few years now(even back when they were Nail Tek just a block over on the Blvd). The place is always clean and up to date and all of the staff are very friendly. Although it can get pretty busy in here, I’ve never been rushed out or had any bad experiences! The prices are EXTREMELY reasonable and they have a great selection of colors for mani/pedi’s. There’s also a rewards card on the back of their business cards if you’re a frequent visitor :) The place is located in a newly built mini shopping center next to several restaurants, a DD/Baskin Robins, and lottery shop and there seems to be ample parking if you’re considering driving over. I’ll be back, as always!

Empire J is owned by the same husband and wife pair that owned Nail-tek which use to be lower down on Crossbay Blvd. I find that I’m having the same problem at the new location as I did at the previous location. When Empire J opened up the staff were very welcoming to us and I think that’s because they recognized us from the previous establishment. Their manicures were decent however sometimes they were just really crappy. When I say crappy I mean awkwardly shaped, rough edges, not smooth etc. I once had a woman that pulled my cuticles without putting cuticle oil or soaking them, she just yanked at them and one bled. Now I find that as they build up clientele, whenever my mom and I walk in the tell us they’re to busy, come back in 2 hours. The first time I understood that we didn’t have an appointment. However twice after that we made appointments and they said come«sorry we busy, come back later.» I mean either they just don’t like us or don’t really have a clue about customer service. Once while I was having my nails dried a lady walked in and the male-owner told her«sorry we’re closed» after walking out one of the Empire J staff ran out to the parking lot to tell her it’s okay come in. He also did that when my mom went in once, told her sorry were closed but she had an appointment at that time. She just got frustrated and left, now she refuses to go there. I would assume others go there because their services are cheap and the location is pretty convenient, that’s why I liked going there. But now that they’re very discriminative either towards us or certain customers, I won’t be returning. When you enter an establishment willing to pay for services you expect to at least be treated with decency and care. As a recurring loyal customer you’d even want to feel welcomed however that’s not what you’ll find here.

Prices are pretty good, and the color/brand selection is better than others in the area. The wait is usually 20 – 40 mins during busy times. Some of the technicians are better than others, some are great and some are not good!

Got a gel manicure today. The design is ok but she started the paint so far from my cuticle that they look grown out already.

I went with my sister-in-law to get our nails done. This place is very nice inside, the prices are decent and the service was very good for me, but not for my sister-in-law. My biggest issue is with the polish. I paid $ 3 extra for a special kind of polish that is supposed to last a week. I was sick later on that day and spent the rest of the day in bed, woke up the next day and my nail was already chipped. 2 days after that and they are even worse. The person I went with got a mani-pedi and she was not pleased with the pedicure. The lady who did her pedi didn’t even remove all the previous nail polish from her toes before she started painting them. She said they were tainted red and she had to ask the lady to buff it out. I guess the search continues for a decent nail venue in Ozone Park.

Every time I come here, they do an amazing job! Make an appointment! The color lasts 2 weeks and I have ZERO chips.
