Caroline’s Pampered Pet Motel

I’m so glad I found Caroline’s. She’s an amazing woman and treats the pets as if they were her own. I’ve left my dog at a couple other pet motels and have never been satisfied — I always left feeling like I didn’t know what was going on and he’d come home chasing his tail and running around that first evening overly-​excited.
Last month, I had to be out of town the entire week. When i picked up my dog, he looked great and was excited to see me. When I got him home, he didn’t act overly excited — which means he had an active workout while he was there.
I had to be out of town again last week for two nights. I decided to call Caroline’s again since I had a good experience the first time. When I picked him up yesterday, I was given back his belongings and noticed the container of food was unopened. I asked about it, and they said they had the same food in house and fed him from their supply. The owner took time to assure me he’d been fed the same food we feed him. (He’s on a special diet, so I was thrilled to hear they had extra and saved his food for me).
I was also initially concerned about leaving him. My dog has a tendency to growl at other dogs — he thinks he’s big, but he’s not. While I was speaking to Caroline about the food, she let me know that my dog had to be separated from the other dogs since he was acting aggressive. She let me know he had special time in the play area away from other pets, so he was given the active time he needed but without worry about injury.
Overall, I was highly satisfied with the accommodations and service at Caroline’s Pampered Pet Motel and plan to use her next time I have to leave town without my dog.

We have used Caroline’s Pampered Pet Motel twice, and we had bad experiences both times to the point where I simply can’t recommend this pet motel.
The first time our dog stayed here, when he came home (after 8 days), he had an awful limp and wouldn’t put any weight on one of his hind legs at all. I called to inquire about this, but they had no idea that he was limping at all.
Despite that first experience, we decided to try again. The second time, our dog stayed at Caroline’s Pampered Pet Motel for two nights. When we picked him up, we were given back the container of food that we had given them, and it was completely full. They didn’t tell us why, and just let us come to our own conclusions.
Three days later, I got a call from the owner (Caroline) saying that while my dog was there, another dog «had a hold» of my dog, and so my dog was separated from the other dogs and was not allowed to play with the other dogs. I said, «so, another dog attacked my dog?» She said, «no, she had a hold of him.» WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?! If another dog «has a hold» of my dog, that means that that dog is biting my dog and not letting go! That’s an attack in my book! And yet my dog was the one that was taken away from the other dogs because «he was growling at her.» I asked if my dog ever bit or attacked that dog or any other dog, and she said no. And yet my dog was not allowed to play with other dogs after that.
Since she had called me, I asked her about the food and why we were given an entire container of food back. I asked if they gave him their food, if he simply wasn’t eating, or if they just neglected to feed him. She didn’t know, but she said that some dogs don’t eat the first couple of days when they come to stay. This should have been communicated to us when we picked up our dog.
The play areas are very small and crowded — far more crowded than other places we’ve been to that actually cost less money.
Overall, I was very dissatisfied with the accommodations that our dog received at Caroline’s Pampered Pet Motel.
