Hampton Inn & Suites National Harbor/Alexandria Area

Not great. Loud hotel, lots of drunks running around on the weekend in the hallways. They also refused a late checkout, which is not a great way to get return business. The rooms are okay, not really updated, but clean. Overall I give it a shrug.

Staff was always willing to help. 11pm after working, was in the mood for a hot chocolate and the front staff person Kalana, went to the back to get some. While discussing the condiments in the front, I brought up Peanut Butter should be out but it’s not. She got me Peanut Butter and all the utensils I would need. I was able to make Peanut Butter bread as a night time snack and enjoy my hot chocolate. The breakfast in the morning is always great, and the fitness facility has what you need to do a basic workout. All and all a great visit to DC!

Very rude front desk staff. Keep transferring you to different people

Avoid this hotel for the following reasons: very dirty, desk clerks know absolutely nothing about their own hotel, rooms are very unattractive and not functional (no towel racks in the bathroom, bed placed in the worst position in the room, creating cramped spaces), very few amenities (no bathrobes or extra pillows, no microwaves or mini fridge in standard rooms), you are given a wristband to wear for your «free» breakfast (feel like being in prison or in the hospital this morning?!? HA !) and did we mention desk clerks that words cannot describe in their attitude (NO is the answer to ALL of your requests) and lack of knowledge (they don’t know a thing about how the parking garage works) and last, you are soaked for parking fees after paying high rates for a substandard hotel room. There are lots of other hotels in National Harbor. Save yourself a lot of aggravation and stay elsewhere.

This place was very clean, the beds were kinda hard, and the staff was very nice. I used to shuttle service to an from the airport and that was fine. I didn’t use the pool, gym, or the breakfast. I appreciated the to go breakfast suggested to me by the man at the desk. Overall, it was fine.

After a few items were misplaced in my room and a police report and multiple phone calls later the items were recovered in the housekeeping office. The manager took steps to make the situation right nice hotel overall

Myra at the front desk is the reason why they lost 1 star. If you have any questions, don’t ask her. She doesn’t like her job and clearly hates her life. I asked her 3 simple questions and it was clear after the very 1^st one that she suffers from attitude’itis. She never even made eye-​contact with me. Was typing the entire time. She didn’t greet me when I came in. I had to tell her that I’m checking in. Never even cracked a smile during the entire process! Awesome customer service!
Question number 1:
Me: «Where do we park?»
Myra: «…make a left then another left» I asked based on the f’d up directions if it’s behind the Gaylord… she said «no, make a right then another right…» Now I’m like-​ok she has problems.
(Come to find out-​the damn parking garage is directly behind the building. How much easier would it have been to for her to just say that? 100% easier!)
Question number 2:
When I booked online, I requested the late check-​out. I told her this and she told me I have to call in the morning to request it because it’s not guaranteed. Fair enough. But here’s that attitude again–
Me: «What’s the latest I can check out?»
Myra: «It varies. It depends»
Me: «Can you tell me a time?»
Myra: «It depends»
Me: «Ok, based on your experience while being here, what’s the latest time you’ve seen ppl check out?»
Myra: «It all depends on the time ppl want to check out»
Now I’m annoyed because she’s being a smart ass. She knows but doesn’t wanna tell me. Why? I have no idea.
Then she says dryly «11:15a or 11:30a». I didn’t even reply.
(Come to find out when I called in the morning to request the late check-​out, (and someone friendly and bubbly answered the phone) I asked her the same thing and she said «The latest you can check-​out without a charge is 1:30pm». How hard would it have been for Myra to tell me this? Apparently too damn hard).
Question number 3:
I barely got this question out!
Me: What time does the pool c-​«
Myra: «8pm! Yes! 8pm!!! Here’s your card and your ID!»
RUDE!
This girl needs another gig where she’s not interacting with humans. Or leave her problems at the door. Sheesh…

I stayed here on my trip a few weeks ago to Washington DC. We stayed at the Hampton Inn on National Harbor, because relatives recommended this hotel. The staff was very friendly, and the hotel building was very clean. Coffee and hot chocolate served throughout the day was a nice touch, as well as free breakfast which was very good. Our hotel room was very nice. The location of the hotel is also great because your right on the national harbor, with restaurants and shops. Your are also close to Washington DC, and the airport. I give this 4 stars because the indoor pool wasn’t too great, but that’s my only complaint. I would definitely recommend the hotel to anyone who is traveling with their kids or on business travel.

The room and the staff were exactly what you would expect. Large bed, suite style room and really well appointed. I did have some issues though and they’re more logistics than amenities. You are forced to park in the garage behind the hotel due to space restrictions in the area. Understandable, but if you do that, please consider that it’s likely folks will be carrying all their gear to check-​in (who wants to make two trips, right?). Well, although there is a door leading to the lobby out back, it is locked day and night, so as I carried my garment bag, laptop case, and rolling suitcase up the ramp thinking I was golden, I then had to go back down the ramp, go all the way around the building to get in. Check-​in was as pleasant and easy as I would want it to be, and as mentioned, the room was clean and spacious with work space, and a TV (albeit small for the space 28−32″ TV in a large room??) that swiveled between the sitting area and the bed. Even the shower had good pressure and the soaps and shampoos smelled good. My next issue was they must use some very cheap key-​cards. Mine kept demagnetizing, so I’d have to either call the front desk and have it brought up to my room, or I even had to have a desk person let me in from the back Courtyard where I went to relax in some fresh air by the BEAUTIFUL outdoor patio-​fireplace. They are quick to respond, but that is not a problem I expect to occur time and time again. They have a small eatery/​bar with simple offerings for breakfast and evening cocktails if you so choose. Not bad, but breakfast can take a while as they serve you at the table after you order from the front counter and that can take quite a while it seems. Overall, not a horrible stay, but I would much rather have not had all the extra problems with the entry of building and rooms. I am sure my company will put me back there, and it will do the trick I guess.

I could not praise Nathan, one of the front reception workers, anymore. He was extremely helpful and went out of his way to accommodate my request for a bath tub. He was attentive and wonderful and his service will not be forgotten. I will surely recommend this hotel because of his superior customer service. Thanks, Nathan!

Had a great stay here – a 2 minute walk across the street from the Gaylord where our event was held – for half the price since we booked early with a locked-​in rate. Great accommodating staff! More than decent hot breakfast included, as well as a 24-​hour hot beverage service. Complimentary roll-​away bed. Large room/​suite with microwave, fridge, and coffee. Had a great corner king suite, and it was quiet. Parking garage was easy and less expensive than other hotels.

Came for a conference. I enjoyed my stay. The staff were very friendly and took great pride in providing excellent service. The room was well maintained and clean. They were under construction but outside of the scaffolding I could not tell. I would recommend this place and will stay here again if I’m in the area. Plus they provide a free breakfast and a delicious treat in the afternoon.

It was a nice overnighter with the family last month. We chose it because of its location to the Gaylord National Convention. Easy free parking, behind the hotel (multi level). (Tip:Before you leave the garage, bring one of your hotel key to drop off at the gate so you don’t have to pay.)
The rooms were cozy, clean and everything worked. Nice Wifi connection. You can pay more for premium connection but we didn’t bother. Beds were comfortable and I’d prefer more pillows than the 4 small ones given. I guess I could have requested more but I didn’t bother. The free continental breakfast was great — more choices than what I have seen at other hotels… the wait staff was busy running around and filling up the food items and coffee stations. I wished they had more tables though. And the hotel is under construction when we stayed but since we didn’t see the workers during our stay in didn’t bother us. But it would have been nice to know when I booked it. We did not use the pool, business center or the fitness rooms but it looked nice and you can tell they upkeep it regularly.
Will stay here again.

The hotel itself is nice and clean, and the staff seems very friendly but the continental breakfast is something to be desired. They seem to have the same thing every day, nasty tasting scrambled eggs and cold turkey sausage links. There was very few fruit items available. Really not impressed with the breakfast which is a big deal for me when deciding on hotels to stay at.

This place is awesome! Clean hotel in the Potomac District. The staff was truly incredible! When we arrived Shelton greeted us with A welcoming smile and went out of his way to make everyone have an enjoyable stay. We are in and out looking at the sights and each time we returned he asked if there was anything we needed or that he could help us with. He was wonderful! We were going to stay at the Gaylord but this place was across the street and we are so glad we stayed, it was certainly worth it. Would stay here again!

Our room was adequate last night. They are remodeling but we didn’t hear any loud noise.

Very clean, comfortable beds, fitness center was awesome (up to 50lb dumb bells 2 benches.,) and a friendly staff. Highly recommend. Plus free breakfast

I wanted to give this hotel 5 stars!
I’ll give ya the good first:
Awesome continental breakfast! There were lots of hot choices and very little waiting.
The room was immaculately clean, had a beautiful view of the harbor (just stretch your neck out a little to the right and VOILA!)
The fitness room was private, and had a bit more equipment than I expected.
Free cookies and coffee all day, until the cookies run out.
It was quiet. We never heard a peep out of anyone.
The bed was really nice, soft, and clean.
The indoor pool was very warm, and there was a lifeguard on site.
And the not so good…
ho hum… the customer service was just plain bad. Upon entering the hotel we were greeted with an other customer yelling, «Hey! Is anybody in here, we’d like to check in!!» That pretty well set the stage for the remainder of our interactions with the front desk staff.
Upon check out, more of the same, crappy attitude from the front desk staff. We waited and waited about 15 minutes at the desk, while the front desk receptionist spoke with co-​workers in the back, in clear view, ignored our cries of, «Hey! Could some one please check us out!?» The staff was just absolutely awful.
The pool was a bit on the tiny side, and there is no hot tub.
Parking is not free, about $ 13 a day and the process to pay for parking is confusing at best — pay attention to the directions the front office staff gives you about parking, and if they don’t give you directions about how to handle parking, ask.
I love hampton inn, and have never had a negaive experience with customer service such as I had this weekend. I am very disappointed because I wanted to love this hotel.

Hampton Inn anywhere is a solid choice and the National Harbor location is no different. The hotel is central to many of the local area attractions and provides a comfortable stay at a reasonable price. Hotel staff was friendly and attentive. The breakfast was pretty standard for HI but no complaints here.
I highly recommend the Hampton Inn to the many other hotels in the area. It’s true value for the experience.

Stayed here one night. Checkin took a bit as there was only one staff person at the check in counter. Staffer was friendly and helpful.
My room was a bit odd — they were out of King Size rooms — so they put me in an «Accessible» room. Which meant the room was massively large — the TV and desk were all the way on one side of the room — while the bed was on the other far side.
Watching TV was like watching TV off in the distance. Internet access was adequate, a bit slow at times.
Parking is fee parking in a parking garage behind the hotel and across the street.
I’d stay here again.
