Service was good, staff is very nice. Food is equivalent to Denny’s. I ordered a New York strip steak(medium rare) and a chocolate torte. I got a New York strip, well-done with sloppy potatoes drenched in butter as a side. The chocolate torte was sliced out of a box. They don’t even try to hide it, the cake came out 2 minutes after I ordered it. It was refrigerator cold and super rich. Oh, and the cherry on the Sunday… my bill was $ 55+. People come here because it’s on-property, definitely not the food quality. I’d recommend off-site or room service.

Not sure why anyone gives more than 3, other than the location. That being said the service was Excellent. I ordered fish tacos which weren’t fresh and I realize fish is a touch subject, but I thought a coastal restaurant would be a good bet. No. Mr. Ordered a pie which was good. The service and location of this restaurant and hotel are keeping business, not the food… and crazy, I would come back just for those reasons.

Meh over priced an under wow’ed is how I could best describe it. The prices were ridiculously high! With out the flavor to match. I ordered a turkey club it was ok I was very excited about the funnel cake desert tho that came with bitter strawberries and no sauce to go over it just a dollop of whip cream it had potential but sadly it wasn’t reached. Customer service was horrible I had to wait 30 mins to be noticed and another hour to get my food I should have just ordered room service but I was trying to be frugal blah they need to step it up!

Super limited menu for a hotel restaurant, definitely should be more of a selection. But everything we ordered was great food. I guess they also have a high turnover rate for waiters because none of them knew the menu very well or what the bar had available for different alcohol options. Hubby doesn’t like Tito’s vodka so we asked about Belvedere or Grey Goose and they had no idea. Great food, mediocre service. You decide.

This is an Embassy Suites hotel restaurant … It has very solid food and service. The fresh local cocktails are good –we liked the margaritas and blueberry drink. The potato chips with Siracha and quesadilla were great. For dinner fish tacos, hamburger, gnocchi and fish and chips all good, and BLT is really good. Nice friendly service.

I found nothing remarkable here, except the high price. Just feeding: no passion by cooking and consequently no tasting pleasures But the breakfast was good

The hotel staff was very friendly. Unfortunately, the food was not great, mediocre At best. I really hope they step it up. Their prices are high and the food is not worth it. I’m actually here for the weekend and looking for a place outside of the hotel for dinner :(

I heard they got a new chef. I was not that impressed. I ordered room service one night and the food was served in to go boxes where I thought u was gonna eat off a plate. That didn’t happen. The quesadilla was good. The club was good. The shrimp po boy had no flavor and I sent it back. The menu kind a sucked not a lot to choose from and not that unique. I will come back here one day and hope to find a decent item I can order not just the usual fish and chips and pasta dishes.

Stayed at the hotel for the weekend for a little getaway with my. Decided to go downstairs for some food at this resturant… It was during a weekend so we were one of three couples that dined there. Well we decided to order a yummy new york steak that was $ 38 priced. Well boy were we wrong! The steak was terrible… No seasoning amd was cooked to the rubber. I gave this place s two because our waitress was really nice. Will not visit again.

None of the food, that they had on their Unilocal page, where not on the menu, the menu had about 10 items on it, none of them okay for a Vegetarian or a Diabetic, the restaurant was empty, for a Saturday night, 3 once water was 4 dollars, 2 fish tacos with no side, was 15 dollars, they didn’t offer any bread either, it’s not worth the price ! French fries 10 dollars… Not only that there were 3 other tables that had a few people, but we still waited about a half hour for our food ! The only reason I gave them 2 Stars, was become the waitress was so nice and understood, and she hears this all the time. I would never go back even if the food was free ! Avoid, Avoid, Avoid !

Have lived a block from Embassy Suites for 15 yrs. Heard Coastal Grill was terrible but decided to go to the bar last evening for a burger. All parking lots were essentially empty. Always used to be a bit busy even on Sunday nights. Got the menu…$ 22 for a hamburger, only 3 other things on the menu. Only 2 other tables filled at dinnertime. These people are out of their minds if they think this is going to make it. The bartender said«well, last Tuesday was busy» when I commented how it changed. Stark, expensive and ridiculous. We left and won’t go back until new owners come in.

Well I have not been to this restaurant since it was Capistrano’s but that was more like 10 years ago and I enjoyed it then. I just tried Coastal Grill tonight with my daughter. We started with their house Pinot Gres. Which was excellent, light and Crisp. We ordered waffle fries which were not your ordinary fries. These are made with Yukon Gold and Yams topped with shaved Parmesan I’m pretty sure it was sprinkled with truffle oil and some fresh herbs served with an apricot jam and a spicy Aioli. Can I just say OMG? There were very few items on the menu but they all sounded so amazing we couldn’t make up our minds and definitely over ordered. We then shared the kale salad with butternut squash and dates pepitas and a pumpkin seed vinaigrette that was super yummy. Another OMG! I had the arctic char. I’ve never had this fish before but it kind of had the flavor and texture of trout without the bones, a cross between trout and salmon maybe, super tender, cooked absolutely perfect. A top fingerling potatoes and roasted red tomatoes and finished with a mustard seed caviar they called it, but no fish eggs involved. Can you say«you had me at hello»? My daughter had the sweet potato and pecan raviolis. I really like this dish. The raviolis were toasted so this is not your typical Italian ravioli. It’s very unique, creative — great flavor. I don’t know if there was something in between the time it was Capistrano’s and the current coastal Grill, but I loved it. The menu was simple but very creative. The staff was great, very attentive and the chef was kind enough to come out and meet with us. I just had to tell her what a great job she was doing. I’m excited that I live just across the street and know that anytime I want that amazing refreshing kale salad it’s just to walk away. A job well done with Coastal Grill Chef. I’ll be back. Patty

Well we tried to eat here but the noise was unbearable, the menu inadequate, and then the waitress announced they were out of the wine we ordered. We decided to go elsewhere and they charged us $ 2.00 to get out of the parking lot! Unbelievable.

First of all, let me say that the servers were excellent. The steak was good too. BUT we waited too long for the food to arrive. Worse was that the mahi mahi was terrible and the couscous is not real couscous. Also the drinks/cocktails were way too weak. Will not be going back.

First time: ordered a steak sandwich from the bar and asked for it medium rare. Sandwich took 25 minutes and came out almost well done. I found a few medium rare chicks and quickly realized that my food had been sitting under a heat lamp the whole time. The arugula was incredibly bitter because it was old, plain and simple. Second time: after a 25 minute wait for a Cobb salad and a flatbread pizza, I had to walk to the back myself and chase someone down to tell them I needed to change it to takeout since I was now running late. Flatbread had cold tomato sauce with mozzarella that wasn’t melted. Never ever again.

My girlfriend and I came here the first night we stayed at the hotel, just expecting a standard hotel restaurant meal. Samantha, our server, came over and greeted us with a big smile and welcomed us. She was very friendly and helpful throughout the whole meal. She was very accommodating of a food allergy, double checking drinks and even triple checking some food items without even being asked. She was fast and efficient, very knowledgable, and made great food recommendations. All with a very quirky and charming personality. Previous reviews complained about the service, but thanks to Samantha we can safely say that is no longer the case. Thanks Samantha!

Food took a long time and was not very good at all. My steak was terrible and my girlfriends ribs were terrible too. Our waitress was good and the drinks were good, so I’ll give them 2 stars. The atmosphere was very cafeteria like.

Great Christmas brunch buffet! Service was excellent. Give this place a chance and it could be one of the nicest restuarants in this area. Location is beautiful, and thanks to Letty, she accommodated our large group. The ham, turkey, lamb and all the fixings were fresh, hot and full of flavor. They also accommodated our request for vegan menu. Nice kids buffet. Great selection of deserts too. Some were too rich. I can’t wait to go back for lunch or dinner. Thanks Ivan for taking care of us. We all enjoyed our experience.

I enjoyed a nice lunch with my girlfriends at the new Coastal Grill. This restaurant is located inside the Embassy Suites Mandalay Beach Resort(where Capistrano’s use to be). They just opened last month and the remodeled space is beautiful. Much more modern that the previous restaurant(Capistrano’s), very open and airy. The new modern bar is gorgeous with stainless steal and granite accents. For lunch we had the spring rolls(more like santa fe rolls) which were very good. I has the grilled vegetable tacos, my friends tried the pulled pork sandwich(huge portion) and the fish tacos. All were exactly as listed on the menu and described by our server. Service was quick and friendly. This is a wonderful spot for a lunch date or dinner. Hoping the weather is nice next time I am back so I can sit on the beautiful patio and enjoy a cocktail!
