History

Established in 1964.

Originally owned and operated by Jim (Jumbo) Mahaney and his wife Pat, Jumbo’s has remained a staple of the Owosso community for over 40 years. In 1998 Long time Friend Joeseph Merkel purchased Jumbo’s and reinstated our commitment to Great Food, Great Drinks and Fun atmosphere and has passed that commitment on to the next generation.

The atmosphere is fun, with a few arcade games and a pool table and lots of different seating options to tuck yourself away at. As long as you don’t mind UFC there’s TVs to watch. The food on the other hand doesn’t have much flavor at all, aside from the olive burger which was disgusting and without a doubt the worst I’ve ever had in my life. I’ve eaten here half a dozen times and nothing stands out at all. Even the fries, cheese balls and fried mushrooms just aren’t flavorful and are often lukewarm when served. Every time I go here I leave underwhelmed.
If you’re looking for good American food you could do much better, such as Greg & Lou’s. For a bar it’s merely serviceable.

Great tasting burger with bacon, onion rings and BBQ sauce with crisp fries. Not cheap, but it made it a tasty splurge. Fountain drinks were limited to the usual sugar-​caffeine combos, but they will serve ice water with fresh lemon slice. Pleasant service, timely, and helpful with menu selections. My friend liked his cheeseburger but wasn’t sure it was worth over $ 9.

For a small town bar, Jumbo’s has a great selection on the menu. I chose a veggie wrap that had a hummous sauce in it. I haven’t had something like it before, and it was very tasty. Jumbo’s also has burgers, sandwiches and steaks. I definitely look forward to trying something new the next time I’m in town.

I live in Traverse City, but every time I’m in Owosso I make sure to stop by Jumbos. It’s a great neighborhood bar and grill. They have an excellent staff and a good beer selection. The burgers are the best!

I heard good things about there burgers. Finally decided to try it out. The burgers lived the hype. I even ordered my burger well done, it was cooked perfectly and was very juicy. The place is very nice on the inside. They also have a salad bar. The bartender Heather was very nice and friendly.
