Specialties
Simply put, we have the largest inventory of auto parts in the Baltimore Metro area. We’ve got brakes, exhaust, batteries, struts and shocks, mounts, even hybrid batteries and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Most importantly we have the greatest team to help you find exactly what you need.
History
Established in 1945.
Standard Auto Parts, Corp. is a well-known fixture in Baltimore, successful because of its long history of skilled staff and loyal customers.
Jack Sutton started the Company, originally called Standard Supply Company, in October 1945. During this post-World War II period, the Company sold auto parts, hardware supplies, and Gleem house paint. The hardware and paint side of the business was phased out, and the Company was renamed Standard Auto Parts Corp. in 1962. The original building on North Avenue was destroyed by fire on February 29, 1960 and the Company moved into its current building on December 20, 1965. This spacious new home allowed us to carry a huge inventory and establish our reputation for having the parts our customers need.
In January, 2003 the Company opened a new corporate headquarters and distribution center at 2020 Hollins Ferry Road in South Baltimore. The new location allowed the Company to grow by leaps and bounds…
Meet the Manager
Scott S.
Manager
I’m one of the managers here at Standard, and the 4th generation of our family business. My great-grandfather started Standard in 1945 and it’s been a landmark in Baltimore ever since. I started just as my Dad, stocking and cleaning shelves when I was a kid, then moving on to pulling parts for delivery orders in our massive warehouse. After that, I earned my way to work face to face with customers on our front counter. Eventually I was thrown into the beating heart of our operation: the inside sales team. That’s where the BEST auto parts guys in the country do their thing. Every so often I go out on the road and visit with our wholesale customers, all the locally owned auto repair shops around Baltimore. Currently I do the marketing. It’s a pretty sweet gig because it’s easy to share great things about a company I love!
