The Daviess County Public Library provides residents the means to pursue lifelong learning; to meet their recreational reading interests; to find, evaluate and use information in a variety of formats; to get answers to their questions; and to better understand their personal and community heritage.
History
Established in 1913.
HISTORY
1913 — Established as a Carnegie Free Public Library on the corner of Frederica and Ninth Streets.
1968 — Moved to 450 Griffith Avenue as Owensboro/Daviess County Public Library.
1993 — Online card catalog began.
1995 — Daviess County Public Library Taxing District was formed and the library was renamed Daviess County Public Library.
1997 — Internet access for the public became available.
2005– Groundbreaking for new building.
2007 –Moved to 2020 Frederica Street, Owensboro KY.
