We offer Aikido lessons. We have a wonderful dojo with true Japanese influences. Only way to appreciate dojo is to see it! We have dedicated instructors that have been teaching and studying Aikido and other martial arts for over 30 years.

We share our space with Yoga Garden since 2006. Yoga Garden offers a variety of yoga classes.

History

Established in 1989.

Dojo has been teaching Owensboro and Evansville students since ’80’s in various locations around Owensboro. Starting in 2006 we have our permanent home on Alvey Park Drive.

Meet the Business Owner

Dan C.

Business Owner

Daniel Caslin is the Chief Instructor of Aikido of Owensboro. Started Aikido in 1976 while he trained with Frank Doran at Stanford University. He also trained under Mary Heiny in Seattle.

Dan spent a year in Japan in 1979 studying Aikido full time under Hikitsuchi Michio Sensei, 10^th Dan, one of O’Sensei’s post-​war students, in Shingu, Japan. Other greatly influential instructors in Shingu were Motomichi Anno (8^th Dan), Yanase (7^th Dan) and Tojima Sensei (6^th Dan).

Back in the United States, Daniel trained with Tom Read in Arcata, California and began teaching in Arcata. He later moved to Kentucky, where he opened a dojo in 1982. He has a continuing interest in meditation.

Dan is now a lawyer practicing in Owensboro. He remains affiliated with North Bay Aikido in Santa Cruz, California.
