History
Established in 1859.
In the beginning, J-C Press was much different than what you see today. It was a newspaper. E.K. Whiting started the Owatonna Chronicle newspaper, and acquired the Owatonna Journal forming the Journal-Chronicle (J-C)Company. Mr. Whiting sold the J-C newspaper operations to the competing Peoples Press in 1938 to focus exclusively on commercial printing and stationery supplies. After Mr. Whiting’s death, his two sons successfully operated the family business from 1940 until 1983.
In 1984, E. K Whiting’s granddaughter Sabra Otteson became sole owner of J-C Press. Through her leadership, the business has evolved into a full-service print and marketing company. Currently, J-C Press employs 46 people and serves over 400 clients across the United States. Today, J-C Press helps clients deliver information to their customers. While the methods of communication have changed over the years, J-C Press is always evolving with innovative ways to reach target audiences.
