About Us

Cheryl and I both lived in Hawaii most of our lives. I found my way to the islands in the early 80’s via Uncle Sam and was stationed at the Marine base in Kaneohe Bay while serving in the USMC. Cheryl grew up in Hawaii Kai and graduated from Maryknoll High School. Our children — Osean, Kiana and Zachary were all born there.

While Hawaii was the ultimate paradise for us, it was very difficult to travel back and forth to Florida to visit our families and the trips were all too infrequent. We decided to take advantage of the real estate market at the time and sold our island home to relocate to Oviedo, FL. We’ve been in Oviedo for 6 years now, and really enjoy the family oriented community.

When Cheryl and I left Mililani, Hawaii in the summer of 2005 in order to live closer to our aging parents, we knew that one of the things we would miss the most about the islands was all the wonderful Hawaiian food. Hawaii is one of those great «melting pots» of the world in which the food

At Hawaiian Grindz we can share a pleasant Hawaiian-​themed atmosphere along with great food, island music and surf culture. We look forward to making many new friends here at our restaurant — stop by for a taste of authentic Hawaiian food or have a delicious beverage and play some music in the fully equipped «Music Jamz» area — I’ll sit in on bass guitar if I can!
