I stopped in one day in 2009 just to see what it was all about. OMG on several levels. Back then Cora was churning out the delicious down home cooking but the place really needed some cleaning. Everything is cooked on an open pit fire and is just so damn good it’s hard to believe that this little one room block house is a place you want to stop in. After the fire closed this place down for a year or so, she’s back open, all cleaned up, and has fire suppression. While small things have changed due to code enforcement, Cora still puts out the same quality of home cooked goodness she always has. I have tried everything over the years and am partial to the pulled pork with her delicious sauce, homemade potato salad and greens(which she grows right outside the door!). A slide of sweet potato pie(which is ¼ of a pie) is always included. I’ve never, ever, had better! The menu is quite limited, no inside seating and outside seating is on a couple of picnic tables so we always get our food to go. CASH only here and I always leave her a nice tip. You just can’t beat this place for some great food to go.
