Best wings in Kansas City! I love this place and even order wings To-Go pretty frequently. They always come out as I order them: naked and well done with buffalo sauce on the side. Bleu cheese and ranch and they alway give you a nice pile of celery. The staff is super friendly always very busy but take the time to acknowledge a familiar face. It’s also nice to go in and have a couple of drinks at and eat at the bar. I really Enjoy the atmosphere. It’s clean and nicely decorated. The bathrooms are always pleasantly clean too. That’s always a must in a preferred establishment for me. It’s a little more expensive than the surrounding comparable places you could go to for wings, drinks, and other tasty bar food but I do believe for the most part you get what you pay for. The Peanut is worth the couple extra dollars. They also have an area you can sit outside and eat on a nice day and enjoy the view of surrounding Old Downtown Overland Park shops. Can’t wait for spring!

These are the best wings I have ever had, not just the best wings hands down in KC.

Great spicy eggs for brunch with lots of bacon. My husband loved the Reuben and he’s a snob when it comes to them. Great atmosphere, very friendly.

We really like this place. No matter how long between visits the night manager always knows us, the waitresses do as well. Great service, very attentive and the food is really good. I love the wings, but what I have really started to like more is the Cuban sandwich. Best in town. We go there whenever we can and always have a great time. Another bar strong on the KC Royals. That is a must with us. Great sports bar with killer wings and sandwiches. I would give it a five but the TV’s are sort of odd angled and high. It kind of makes it tough to view from some seats but this is a small and fairly unimportant detail overall. Great place to enjoy the evening.

I actually love this place, and gave it one less star for a particular visit with my family. I’ll start with the good stuff though… My friends and I love to go to the peanut to get their WINGS which are the BEST. They are whole freaking chicken wings, and in the best sauce! The dips are delicious as are the sweet potato fries. We are also a fan of their BLT and nachos. The service is typically pretty good there, though a little slower than we’d prefer when we are needing something. There was one particular visit that was frustrating because I brought my family there for wings(which is what they are known for) and they had some sports games on(which is fine, that’s what bars do) However, they were turned so LOUD that we could not hear each other talk, even yelling over the table. We asked probably 4 staff members if there was any way to turn down the volume, as we simply were no longer talking to each other anymore. They said they’d check with a manager but nothing ever improved. So as good as the food was, the customer needs were not considered. I understand a lot of people are there to watch the game. I get it. But this was unreasonably loud and you would think with multiple complaints from a table of 8 would get some attention. Nope. Either way, I will go there again for wings. If there is a game on, I will simply take my business elsewhere.

Great place to go for your typical bar food. I liked the whole dive bar ambiance, the peanut shaped table was cool too. I did order the special of the day which happened to be fish tacos, yum! They actually were pretty good. I would come back here to watch a game and enjoy some brews, plenty of tv’s on the walls!

Love this location, which is a good match for the Peanut’s dive-bar vibe, with the exposed brick walls & scarred wood floors. Lots of local draft beers. The wings, of course, are my fave… they are huge. No fooling, they offer an entrée of three wings & fries, in a totally non-ironic way. It sounds like a snack, but I didn’t finish the fries because I was full. Noisy & fun, good place to watch a playoff game with your buds.

I really can’t believe I haven’t left a review here yet. I’ve probably been here 50 times, and it’s one of mine and my kids favorite places. The wings are the best in KC, plain and simple, and I tried really hard to find a place that beats them… no such luck. Not a wings fan? No problem. The BLT is one of the best too… try the triple and add options like extra bacon, and an egg. Wow. Besides the food, everyone that works here is incredibly friendly. Super fast service at the tables. And a pleasure to be here even just for a beer at the bar. Long live the Peanut. :-)

After living in Kansas City for 5 years now and hearing how great the wings are at the Peanut, i finally gave them a try. Unfortunately i was not impressed. The wings weren’t very crispy and the sauce tasted like someone dumped black pepper in a regular hot sauce. They serve the huge regular size wings too so eating them all sauced up was a little awkward to say the least. Plus they only have the one sauce so you better like a lot of black pepper! My wife really liked her chicken sandwich though so i’ll probably give them Another chance some say, just probably not for wings again.

Wish I could give them 4 stars but I can’t… We had Reubens and BLT’s. The sandwiches are the best ever. They make the corn beef for the Reubens in house. Service was good and the place was clean The reason I am giving them 3 stars is the dill pickles tasted like paint, the ice tea tasted like water and the coleslaw was bland. Those things may seem minor but I find those items concerning because it should be a simple fix by management. It is still worth my time to go back just for the sandwiches. despite the other issues.

This was the first time I tried the famous wings at The Peanut. I don’t normally eat wings, so maybe I’m biased. As I held up a wing to my mouth I had to retract my hand because the sauce/spice was so overpowering, but I slowly worked my way into it. Wow! I decided to go for a second one. Thank goodness for the extra napkins our waitress dropped off. However, the highlight of my trips to The Peanut are always the nachos! They’re amazing! It’s about $ 8 or something for a ginormous plate. Totally worth it. Hope my picture will awe you. I’ll definitely come back here if I’m craving nachos, maybe wings.

So a few things… One, I went during my lunch break. Two, I wanted to try these infamous wings i keep hearing about. They DO tell you it will take a while if you order wings. All four of us ordered the wings. Ok having said all that… its still hard to justify a 75 minute lunch, from sit down to walking out the door. With again 4 people. I had my patience pants on, and I wasn’t in a rush to get back to the office(who is?!) so I wasn’t too worried about it, but it does make it hard to justify coming here over a typical lunch break. Service was good. not great; but certainly not bad. Since we were waiting nearly 30 – 40 for food, we were like the blackhole — the forgotten table. The wings… The wings were just ok. Yup. Just ok. They are larger than most you will see at others places. But they seemed almost burnt, and rubbery. Disappointing to me. So I am going down the middle here with an «A-OK». Seems like a good place to catch a royals game, get a few beers and chill. I wouldn’t say come get the wings over lunch if you have a 20 minute window, That just aint gonna’ happen.

I ordered a buffalo chicken wrap(grilled) and chips($ 5.00 on Mondays) with a drink($ 2.50). My order was delivered to my table in about 12 minutes. The grilled chicken was plentiful and delicious, with a tangy jalapeño ranch sauce and plenty of lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and cheddar cheese. The homemade chips had plenty of flavor and crunch. The interior was nicely done with wood and brick. There were plenty of TVs, and music was playing. I found the service to be somewhat friendly, and attentive. Burgers are only $ 6.00 on Tuesdays.

I’ll give this place 5 solid stars for their chicken wings alone. Double fried. The whole wing still connected. Spicy pepper wing sauce. Yum. I usually try wings every where I go that has them and these are the best I’ve ever had in my life. As far as everything else: it’s a pretty solid bar. Decent beer chooses, great sandwiches, wraps, etc. Lots of TVs and for how crazy it can get during sports games, the waitresses do a really great job. I love the OP location on Santa Fe but the one downtown is great as well. And easy pick for wings and a pretty great bar.

We were really looking forward to finally trying The Peanut after hearing such good reviews on the food, however we must have missed the part about their lack of service. So it’s 2:00 on a Monday, they have 4 groups of customers and at least 3 workers. We walk in, sit at a table near the bar and realize it’s been 5 mins of the 3 servers hanging out at the bar and not paying attention to incoming customers. So can’t give a review on the food because we ended up leaving, but terrible service on their behalf. I wouldn’t even give them one star, but it’s required on this review.

A much cleaner, more grown up version of the other locations. The food is the similar but the service is so much better. I didn’t have long to wait for the as always awesome BLT. My husband ordered the Cuban. We actually took home ½ of our sandwiches. I was able to try the Cuban. It was great. It tasted and looked a lot better than the faux Cuban I had elsewhere; even after warming it up. I liked we were given other choices for sides instead of a bag of chips. There are plenty of TV’s from every seat if you’re there to watch a game. The restaurant is group and family friendly. But there is an awkward four top right as you walk in. I saw 3 different people run into it when coming in the door. Again, the service was really good. We have had service issues whether it was the server or the kitchen at other locations. I am definitely putting this location on my radar.

Craving BLTs and Bloody Marys, my husband and I headed over to The Peanut for the long-overdue first time last week. I expected it to be a lot more of a dive than it actually was. It was nice inside with a lot of families enjoying lunch as well. We actually ended up splitting a triple BLT with a side of chili-cheese fries. Half of both was more than enough for both of us! We really enjoyed the BLT, but I picked off most of the shredded cheese. The fries were perfect because they weren’t smothered. I know I’m a lightweight after two kids, but the one Bloody Mary I had(even after finishing my sandwich) definitely had a kick(and it wasn’t from the spicy mix). The rest of the menu(especially the wings) looked really good! We can’t wait to return and can’t believe we waited so long!

Two visits… and they have some of the best chicken wings in town… I just love the sauce. The ranch and blue cheese dips are tasty as well. They have a decent line up of beers… hard to eat wings without beer! If you want to watch a good there are plenty of screens to do so here.

The only positive things was the waitress who told me to have a good night on my way out and the blue cheese dip for the wings. After a talk post with a large majority of people declaring The Peanut as having the best BLT in town I decided to try it after a long day out taking pictures. I called ahead and placed a to go order to pick up on my way home. First negative, smokers right in front of the door. Not standing to the side of the door, but right in front so that they had to move for me to enter the building. I use to smoke and was very respectful of non-smokers. I am also one of those former smokers that has an issue with rude smokers. First thing that will keep me from going to a business is their lack of concern for their non-smoking customers. The bar looks like the type of bar I would hang out at. Not a dive, nothing fancy, just a good place to catch a game or hang out with friends. It is quite dark inside and could use a little more lighting. The bartender was not very hospitable. I walked up and told him I had a to go order, which he promptly went to get. He came back with the order and sat my ticket down not saying a total or anything. I handed him my card, he cashed me out, brought my ticket back to sign, sat it on the bar, said here you go and walked off. I was a little annoyed at this just because he used a nice tone didn’t make him nice in the least. As I was leaving the waitress told me to have a good evening with a smile and a friendly tone. Definitely a difference between her warmth towards a customer and the bartenders lack of it. The packaging for the wings to go is terrible. A paper tray covered with a sandwich wrapper. The BLT was in a plastic container and I was left wondering where the disconnect is to packaged their wings in the same manner. The BLT was a BLT. Nothing special. Defiantly not great as made out by many people. Just bacon, lettuce, and tomato on wheat bread. Not thick cut bacon, not blown away bacon flavor, just bacon. Not a great quality wheat bread, just a wheat sandwich bread. I am really missing what makes people so enamored with it. It was edible though, making it the best part of my meal. I got cottage cheese as the side with the sandwich. I know this is going to sound weird, but the cottage cheese was chewy. I don’t think I have ever experienced such a low quality cottage cheese and really wasn’t sure what to think. I posted a picture of the wings. If this is the normal cooked level of their wings, I am also missing the overwhelming love for the wings. They were terribly over cooked, burnt to be exact which also made them grossly dry. Even with the amazing blue cheese dip. They ended up in the trash because there was no getting past the dry charcoal flavor. The wing sauce was really good though. I tasted some that was in the bottom of the paper tray and the flavor versus heat ratio is perfect. To bad the charcoal wings overwhelmed that flavor. There were a few positives that kept The Peanut from being an outright 1 star. I would go here for drinks or a game after eating elsewhere.
