The Home Depot

As far as material and hardware goes — I think all Home Depots are pretty much the same.
So it boils down to service. The few times I have been here the service has been top notch. I went to a Nuts and Bolts hardware store earlier in the day to buy material for a project. they didn’t have what I was looking for and the associate brushed me off as if I was bothering him.
I went to this home depot and showed the associate a picture of the project I was working on and he walked me around the warehouse helping me pick out the right lumber for the job. They even cut the lumber for me. These guys are awesome.

Took off work early and Rented an auger that doesn’t dig even the softest soul, no apology… Just a 20 minute wait for manager to refund deposit, don’t rent here.

If I were writing this review a few years ago, it would have been a 2 star review, but this Home Depot is greatly improved. It used to be impossible to get store employees to provide assistance, but now, it seems like they bend over backwards to help out and they’re generally friendly, too. The selection is pretty huge just like you would expect at Home Depot. They have a pretty decent garden section, but they store their bags of mulch and potting soil outside, so if it rains, they weigh at least 2x what they should. So that’s a bit of a pet peeve, but since I don’t buy these products every time I visit, it amounts to more of a minor annoyance than anything.
The self checkout experience has gotten much better as well. It used to be that everything was SUPER picky and the scanners wouldn’t function if you didn’t obey their oddly programmed rules. This was made even more frustrating by a lack of attentive personnel to assist. But no more! Checking out through the self checkout is a breeze and there is always a friendly person there to help out.
Having said that, I’m still on the fence regarding Home Depot vs. Lowes. I seem to come to this Home Depot more often than Lowe’s, but I really don’t think the differences are all that major, so I’m definitely not shunning Lowes and I do think there are times when Lowes beats out Home Depot, such as in their selection of decking materials.

I use this Home Depot due to its location, and have done so for years. I will not be buying from this store again. While the associates throughout the store are helpful, the strategy seems to be to eliminate all cashiers and rely solely on self checkouts. This is infuriating. The machines are buggy and if I happen to be buying anything large, I must wait on the single cashier manning four machines. This shows a complete disregard for the customer and shows they would rather cut a couple jobs to save a few bucks.

I give Home Depot 1 star for effort that’s about all the receiving team gets, chalk another crapppy place to unload if you have to use docks, flatbed no problem in and out any body else wait, wait, wait, wait shop at menards!!!

Seriously impressed. Maybe I caught them on a great day but being the holiday season and all, I wasn’t expecting such great service from every employee I came across. Compared to the other locations, the employees at this location were eager to help and seemed excited about my home projects.
This trip started out with searching the lumber area for some wood boards to use as part of this years Christmas gifts. I was worried having never really dealt with this side of the store but they had a very nice man in the back that cuts the boards down come to help me pick out something that fit my needs. I needed about 8 cuts of this single board and received no grumbles or anything but positive, kind support and happy holiday wishes. I traveled further to find some picture hanging items and the very next employee I walked past offered to help walk me to them and even asked with a smile if it was for the wooden art boards. The final employee I dealt with was at the register and she had a pleasant demeanor about her. At other locations I have had to search, beg and plead for help that never comes. Not this one, not today at least.

I have to admit, I do love Home Depot.
They have some drawbacks — huge warehouse, so-​so customer service, crummy sales. Pretty much the story at any big retailer.
But boy do they pretty much have everything a person could need. Sometimes if I have spare time, I just browse to see what I might need — like a light switch controlled by my phone. (True story)
What I really like about Home Depot is their returns policy — I have taken things back more than 60 days later … I don’t get to the big box stores all that often; I have taken back opened goods that when I tried it out I didn’t like it (a night light that was actually too dim); I have taken things back without the receipt.
They never give me grief, they never refuse to take it back, and they are always friendly.

This is my neighborhood Home Depot and my go to store for any kind of home improvement projects. Some days I run in to buy a $ 3.00 Christmas light timer. Other days I’ll spend more money on varying projects to make me, my wife, and my home happier.
This HD location is better staffed than most and has friendlier employees than other stores in the Metro. Employee friendliness and service is one of the main reasons I started going to Lowes while still living north of the river. Without a Lowes close to my house, I decided to give HD another shot when I moved to OPKS last year. I’ve really been impressed with their effort to go above and beyond.
It’s no different store – wise than any other Home Depot location, but this location is great step up over the others.

It was Aug but a dark cloud hung over the parking lot. I had to urinate and pick up a garden sprayer so Home Depot seemed like a good bet. I went directly to the back of the store to relieve myself before shopping. The bathroom wasn’t in it’s usual Home Depot spot, I wandered around until I found a sign saying go no further! unless you want the restroom. I braved it and continued into the harsh lights. A man stood at a urinal next to me laughing and blurting out sentence fragments about paint and lighting. I squeezed hard and skipped washing my hands to get away. I stepped out and found myself disoriented and unable to find my way back to the entrance. A cross eyed man with a belt full or tools tapped my shoulder and asked if I needed directions. His voice slow with the insinuation of «You’re not from around these parts are ya?» I inquired about a garden sprayer. «That’s on the Kill Wall,» he says under his breath. «Where we keep all the chemicals for whatever killing you need» He points a gnarled finger that ends at the knuckle towards the other side of the store and lumbers off. Feeling a sense of danger and anxiety I cut through the plumbing section only to regret my decision. Large pipes and cutters seemed like perfect tools to dispose of a body. I approached the Kill Wall and found my sprayer marked down half price! After a new york minute at the self check out I found myself so happy to be back out in the sunlight walking amongst the living again.

Fabulous customer service! The paint department is almost fun to visit!

For my one hundredth review, I am choosing Home Depot because they have been my homeowning support for the past ten years. They are indeed special.
I like this one for several reasons. First, they are just down the street. When I think of something I need, it is easy to hop in the car and be there and back in fifteen minutes. As well, they have everything I could ever need or want for my home! I generally like to support the smaller stores, but honestly, they are way overpriced and often do NOT have what I need. Home Depot always does. From repairs to decorating to yardwork and landscaping, this place has it all for a reasonable price. Also, now I can go online to make sure they have certain items in stock before I make the trip there.
Finally, and this is always a huge deal to me, their customer service is outstanding! It’s like a store full of my dads just waiting to kindly help me and answer my questions! Today, when I went to buy bags of heavy stuff for my lawn, three different teenage young workers offered to help me carry and load, and they were so courteous. This is what bumped it up to five stars. I hardly go anywhere where young people demonstrate sincere manners like that. I declined, as I do have some muscle power of my own, but the offer was well-​received.
I have been to other HDs and similar places and really felt like I was in foreign territory; I always come back to this one.

I have friend who prefer the local hardware stores. It’s true, these local stores sometimes have an expert staff. However, Home Depot has a much larger selection
and I often find really good quality merchandise at a lower price than the local stores.
When I rented a rug cleaning machine, I found that Home Depot was much cheaper than local hardware and grocery stores.
Recently I went looking for a bird feeder. First I checked a small store that specializes in bird houses and bird feeders. The clerk was an expert on «bird everything» but the prices were sky high. I took the information I’d learned and went to Home Depot where I found a comparable bird feeder for 25% less.

I normally shop at the HD in Olathe but today I was closer to this location. Facing Step One of a remodeling project, a friend suggested looking for cabinets at HD due to her satisfaction with a recent bathroom remodel.
After looking around for a few minutes I was greeted by Mitch. He really knows his stuff about the products he is selling and how to use the design program on the computer. He made several suggestions on creating designs that provide the most efficient use of the available space and best products for the money.
I left feeling like I do not need to shop anywhere else. I love this quality of customer service. Sadly it’s a lost art form in our country. I hope his style influences his co-​workers because I’ll drive the extra distance for excellent customer service!

Customer service stinks. Today, two employees in the paint department were not only unhelpful, but unfriendly bordering on rude. I walked out and won’t be back. Lowe’s, it’s you and me from now on.

So, when thinking of Home Depot I am forced to think of why I need to go to Home Depot — — - which usually means that something in my middle-​aged home has decided to quit working. This brings on a wave of nausea and nervousness. Combine this with the fact that I know nothing about home repair.. .. .and never seem to find a patient salesperson equipped to deal with my ineptitude.. ..

the shortest Home Depot visit ever due to a helpful person and a quick checkout. to that i feel that they’ve upped thier game at this home depot since June,. thank you. well done.

I hate shopping here when I need something for a home improvement project.
If I have any questions I feel like I have to hunt someone down for help. One time I tried to get an employee’s attention and had to call out 3 times. –He was very busy conversing with another employee.
