Your first Unilocal review is usually triggered by either a very positive or a very negative experience. Unfortunately, in this case, it is the latter. My friend locked himself out of his house in Cambridge, MA. The company’s website quoted a 15 $ service fee and the price for a residential lockout«starting at 35 $.» This is also the information he got over the phone when he called to get help. The good news first: Somebody arrived within 25 minutes and opened the door to the house and his apartment without having to change the locks. The bill came up to a 110 $. Not cheap, but okay(it was a Sunday afternoon). Here comes the part that enrages me: My friend didn’t have cash, so he asked to pay with his credit card, and after the guy gave the card details over the phone to the office, the charge suddenly increased by another 225 $! The total charge now comes to 335 $ for a lock-out service that took 10 minutes and did not require change of any equipment. Wow! When my friend called back and asked to clarify the charge(there are actually two credit card charges, 110 and 225 $ each, so it looks like a mistake was made), he was told that«the price sounds reasonable.» The dispatcher did not comment on the apparent double charge. Mind you, their website says, «We won’t charge you an arm and a leg for our services» — I wish! Was it a very complicated lock that would justify that enormous price tag? We tried the«card trick» a day later, and we were able to open both locked doors within seconds — faster than the professional they sent. We are going to dispute this unapproved double charge from his credit card. Beware of these deceitful business practices at PMJ Locksmith Services. EDIT: We tried to contact the business directly to resolve this issue, but got no response.
