From the owner, Carrie Cohn:

I took my first Pilates mat class in the late 1990’s. The movements were so different from my aerobics and weight lifting background; I couldn’t believe that they could be effective. The next day my skepticism was put to rest. I was so sore in my abs that I couldn’t take a deep breath! Well, I was hooked! I had to learn more about this amazing system of exercise that had humbled me so.

In May of 2000, I opened Personal Best Pilates Studio, the first Pilates-​only fitness studio in the Kansas City. Our studio is the largest and best established Pilates studio in the state of Kansas, and was even named top women owned service business in the state of Kansas by the Kansas Department of Commerce in 2005. We have worked with over 3,000 clients, ranging from professional athletes to people suffering from debilitating diseases, and everyone in between. Our goal, quite simply, is to provide our clients with the BEST Pilates experience possible!

Business Owner

Carrie Jessee Cohn, MBA, PMA-​CPT, is the owner and founder of Personal Best Pilates Studio and Personal Best Pilates Instructor Academy (PBPIA). She has been a passionate fitness instructor since 1986, and has experience with types of group fitness and personal training. She was named one of Kansas City’s Top Women Business Owners in 2005 by the Kansas City Business Journal. Also in 2005, Personal Best Pilates Studio was named top woman –owned business in the state of Kansas by the Kansas Department of Commerce. Elected to the Board of Directors for the Pilates Method Alliance in 2010, she is currently serving as Secretary to the Board.

Prior to opening her studio, Ms. Cohn worked in the private sector for 14 years, and has experience in manufacturing, construction, and information technology. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Park College (magna cum laude), and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Missouri, Kansas City.
