Lulu Salon is a full service salon. Offering every hair service imaginable. Manicure/​pedicure, enhancement, and Nail Art services are also available. We also offer a dry spa, giving clients the best esthetics and massage therapy services in Overland Park!

History

Established in 2004.

We took over our free standing building 10 years ago! Lulu has an open floor plan, ample styling stations, and houses the most experienced service providers in Johnson County. Located off I-​435 and Roe exit, this salon and spa is easily accessible for any Kansas City native.

Business Owner

Beginning a successful career in the beauty industry 19 years ago, has lead Leslie down an impressive path. Being the midwest color educator for L’Oreal, opened creative doors and she eventually landed a job working as an ambassador with Tony & Guy. After opening Lulu Salon and Spa 10 years ago and going through an extensive remodel, Leslie has directed her talented team to many rewarding endeavors. She is instrumental in our unique hair extension system program and its clients, she is also responsible for a large clientele in creative cuts and modern day color techniques.

Ive never received services personally but my client has a standing appointment every week and she is in and out quickly. The salon is clean for the most part and plays an excellent assortment of music.

I had a groupon for color service, cut and dry for $ 35.00 with Amber Kelly. After the service I was charged an additional $ 70.00 for various add ons which the pricing was not discussed before hand I have just below shoulder length hair and have NEVER been charged 20.00 extra for long hair before and I have been Hilighting my hair for over 20 years. Please be wary if you are using s groupon of additional charges and ask what they are beforehand I was quite put out as my regular girl charges this for a full Hilighti and I only received a partial with one color. Horrible business practice and I was not that impressed with my service.

I had my hair done with Amber yesterday and she did a great job. I recently moved from NYC and was nervous about going to another new stylist in KC after my horrible experience last month at a salon is Westport. (See my other reviews). Amber fixed my terrible color with beautiful high and low lights and corrected the awful haircut. I have now found my go to hair stylist in KC. Thanks Amber.

Just finished my second Brazilian with Erica, and for the second time I am leaving feeling absolutely wonderful. Despite the horror stories I’ve heard about waxing, Erica makes sure I’m completely comfortable the entire time and does an amazing job. Yes waxing hurts, duh, but I definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a nice clean wax! :)

This is both for Amber (haircut) and Erica (brazillian wax).
Both amazing. Amber did my hair quickly as I was on a time crunch, including color. Loved it. I requested her use something less harmful to my hair so it didn’t fry it. She came through and did a great job.
Erica, this was my first Brazillian and she was FAB-​U-​LOUS! I won’t say it didn’t hurt, because there isn’t a way to do these without pain. Anyone who gives bad reviews because it hurt is ridiculous. I’ll tell you I’m going back as soon as I can. And that says a lot for a waxing beginner! Did I mention I love Erica? She’s wonderful and her prices are affordable for repeat visits.

I love Lulu’s! Leslie has been cutting my hair for longer than either of us care to admit. I wouldn’t go anywhere else in KC! I just moved to New York, and I’m trying to figure out how to afford flying back to KC for a hair cut! Leslie will have a conversation with you before doing anything with your hair and make sure she knows exactly what you want. She will consider your hair type and explain exactly how she plans to give you the style you want. She will also teach you how to style your new cut. She’s amazing!

I highly recommend Jill Jenkins at Lulu Salon! She’s been coloring, cutting and styling my hair for a few years now. I’ll never use another stylist, she really is the best! And she’s super sweet. She gives the best hair and styling tips. She just cut my long and boring hair into a cute, fun new style, and made sure I knew how to give myself «beachy waves.» I love it and I love Jill :)

I first went to Amber in September 2011 because I had a great Groupon. I never expected that she would still be my stylist 18 months later! I have a very hard time explaining to hair dressers what I want, but somehow she understands and delivers exactly what I want every time! My hair is very thick, wavy, and graying. She gives me beautiful color and highlights and the sleek, smooth look I love every time. I also love Lulu’s Salon. It is a fun place – never snooty like some salons I’ve been in.

Amber did excellent work; I was looking for a stylist that could do a great highlight job on hair that is already home colored (a dark color). I have had a lot of compliments on her work. I plan to go back.

Tonight I got to use my Groupon for a cut, hi-​lite, and wax with Amber. Going to a new hairstylist makes me nervous but Amber was awesome. Most hairstylists run over with clients, but she’s the only one who’s actually let me know she was running a little over, which I really appreciate. She made sure she knew exactly what I wanted and I love my hair. For the wax, I got my eyebrows done. She used a super sensitive wax and I had no problems at all, actually my eyes normally turn SUPER red but this was the least red they’ve ever been. I’ll definitely be going back!

If you are scared to try a new hairdresser. then calm your fears. Leslie at Lulus is the best. She really knows her stuff. She has been doing my extensions now for five years. They look fabulous! I also have to say that I have never seen a bad lookin do come out of Michelle, Linda, or Joe’s chair either. They all do a rock star job.

I too bought the groupon for waxing services and it was so very painful. She did a good job of trying to talk to me to keep me distracted but she didn’t do all that I asked and there was no spray or cream offered. I should have realized when I called her 3x in 3 days to try and book an appointment and she never responded until I tracked her down at LuLus. I was not offered the groupon price if I became a regular but that’s okay because I will not be going back.

This review is for waxing services at Lulu salon. Ouch!!! The most painful I have ever received. I got a Groupon for $ 22 for a Brazilian. That’s a great deal, and I was even offered this price for all future waxes if I became a regular customer. Not worth it. No numbing spray or cream and the old school wax does not come off easily. Neither does the hair. If you’ve ever had a Brazilian wax before, you will be extremely disappointed if you come here.

Joe’s been cutting my son’s unruly Asian hair since 9⁄09. He is the nicest guy. My son loves how quick and efficient he is. He always hated haircuts before going to Joe, but now he looks forward to getting his hair shampooed. If you’re Asian and can’t find someone to give you a decent ‘do, try Joe. Dude’s awesome.
I haven’t tried any of the salon’s other services, but they have a nice, friendly staff.
