Land Of Paws

Have been going here for years but just recently purchased our puppy from here! The girls were so nice and we are so happy with Brutus! We will def be coming back! They have sooo many cute puppies! I highly recommend this land of paws. I will say the prairie village location is not the same, the girls are very crabby and not welcoming whatsoever. Also, their location isn’t the cleanest.

I am a client of Land of Paws, and I find that the workers there are always very friendly. It seems like they go out of their way to help without being pushy. I highly recommend that you try this place out! They also have great dog food and supplies!

Land of Paws describes itself as an upscale pet store with exclusive pet supplies and treats. They have plenty of leashes and collars, and many baked treats.
They carry several brands of specialty pet foods, such as California Natural, Fromm, and Innova, as well as less healthy foods like Science Diet, which I would never feed my dog. The prices aren’t as good as what I’ve seen in other specialty stores, but it’s only a few dollars’ difference so it would do in a pinch.
It made me sick to see the puppies in the back of the store, especially the price tags. These puppies come from puppy mills — no reputable breeder would sell their puppies in a store. Registered breeders, ones who care about their animals, want to meet an adopter and know the puppies they have spent so much time raising are going to good homes. The animals in here have price tags of $ 600+ dollars, with no mention of where they got them; I can’t find on their website where it says they even sell animals in their store. Puppy mill mothers live terrible lives, where they are forced to breed and breed and breed; they are given no love or attention, and they are often kept in poor conditions.
I’m sure the products they sell are fine for your pets and the workers are pleasant and kind, which is why I’m forced to give it two stars instead of just one — but I can’t imagine spending my money with a business with such little regard for animal lives. I’d much rather go to places like Brookside Barkery, which promotes local rescues, or Treats Unleashed, which is only a few minutes north. Both of these locations offer the same products and prices, as well as bathing and grooming services.

This place is great, we got our awesome woodle here, and to this day u occasionaly see them from the same breeder. not sure the puppy mill thing is fact based.

I visited Land of Paws when I was in KC for work. I frequent dog boutiques in Minneapolis and am always on the hunt for new treats and stuff for my dogs.
Land of Paws is huge! Much bigger than the ones in Minneapolis, and so they have tons of stock of different products.
I really enjoyed the bakery, and was able to find stuff for my dogs, who don’t eat all types of flour/​grains.
I admit, I found it a little odd to see puppies for sale… maybe if they worked with rescues it would be a little more acceptable to the public. I rescued both of mine and am a huge promoter of rescue and not breeding. I did I saw a couple of people opening the cages up and taking care of the dogs, so it looked to be clean and well functioning. I just hope these little guys get taken home quickly.
Besides the point, the woman that helped me was super informative and helpful, and I appreciated her assistance. If KC brings me back, I’ll stop back — but most of the stuff I can access here, I did find a new toy that my dogs didn’t eat in 2 seconds so I may be checking it out again!

Beware parents. If they find you on a cellphone like me and your daughter is pointing at the puppies, you’ll soon be ushered into a private area where your kid is given a puppy and walk away $ 500 poorer/​happier.
Also these dogs are sourced from a hand picked breeder. The owners of this place have two locations and are vets.

Being that I am in dog rescue, I cannot condone the fact that they sell puppies and that they most likely come from a puppy mill, BUT I will admit that I have been tempted enough to play with some of the puppies that they sell. I mean, seriously, they are cute, cuddly puppies.
Land of Paws is an upscale pet boutique. If you are looking for the fancy dog bed, or cute matching collar and leash, they have it here. Prices are high. I think the only thing I’ve ever bought here were some homemade dog cookies and a dog collar. The staff is not very knowledgeable since most seem to be high school girls.

This is one of my favorite places to go shopping for my dogs. My dogs love when I come home with a bag from this place because they know that they’ll be getting treats.
They also have a nice selection of collars for smaller dogs and they’re reasonably price when it comes to collars.
Another huge draw for me is the fact that they started selling dog food for dogs that are on a raw diet. One of my dogs has switched over to raw food and instead of driving to Olathe/​Liberty/​Brookside I’m able to swing by Land Of Paws and pick it up… I can’t explain to you how nice that is! They also have a great selection of high quality dog food. I just love this place.

I first went here when I got my new puppies, all excited to buy collars (lots of cute ones with matching leashes!), beds, carriers and more. As soon as I walked in, I was almost a kid in a candy store.
Until I saw the puppies for sale in the back.
No reputable breeder would EVER let their puppies be sold in a pet store. Period. They tried to tell me that the puppies came from «hobby» breeders. Uh… no, they didn’t. They come from puppy mills. I’m so disappointed because they have cute stuff, but I would never support a business that helps keep the puppy mill business alive.
