Hair Lovin’

So I’ve been going to the same stylist for 8 years, however, because of my schedule, it’s now become increasingly difficult to make the 2-​hour drive down to get my hair cut. Enter, Hair Lovin’. I received the recommendation of this place from some roller derby friends of mine, so I decided to give it a shot. I’m pretty edgy; I usually have off-​the-​wall suggestions for my hair (e.g., lines shaved in the side, bright blonde on the top, etc.), so I was a little worried trusting someone else to give it a shot. I contacted the salon via Facebook with a photo of the hairstyle that I wanted to see if they could swing it. They recommended that I see Beckie. They scheduled me for the next week, later on a Friday evening.
I went into the appointment fairly nervous. As I said, I had not been to a different stylist in years, and when you’re talking about doing crazy things to your hair, it can be a little unnerving wondering if the new person will be able to do it. Upon walking in, I was greeted by all the ladies. They do have an extensive little snack/​drink bar in the back room. I didn’t get the pleasure of trying any of it, but it sounded great.
Onto my stylist… Beckie was amazing. We discussed the cut (and the color that I want that we will do later) and she made some suggestions that I appreciated. I’ve had my head shaved around the sides before, with lines in it, and let me tell you… it’s always been a little painful because my scalp gets razor burn essentially. My cut with Beckie was anything but that. She was super careful and gentle with me. She’s also a great conversation partner. She took so much care in getting everything trimmed up nice and neat. It’s seriously the best haircut I’ve ever had. Also, to add to that, the shampooing process… I literally almost fell asleep because it was so relaxing. I can’t wait to go back and have her do more awesome things to my hair. I would recommend to anyone.

I think this was one of the best hair experiences I’ve ever had. Jennifer was amazing! I left feeling so beautiful! Highly recommend:) I will be back!

My wife for once loved the way her hair was done awesome job folks. I recommend this place if you want style and not just simple stop and chop.
They also offer drinks to which is rather unheard of to me.

Before I moved, I was a regular at Hair Lovin’. I have worked for many salons, and have known many stylists, and I have to say this is hands down one of the best salons in the Kansas City area.

I would trust any of their staff with my hair, Jen, Becky, Dana, Michaelene, they are all so talented and wonderful. If you are looking for an adorable boutique salon with a talented and welcoming staff who are passionate about what they do, you absolutely have to try Hair Lovin!

I’m from out of town and found Hair Lovin on Unilocal.My hair was shaggy to say the least. I gave Jennifer Pray permission to do what she thought would look best. BOOM. My hair looks great. She was great. The ladies were very nice, outgoing, and experienced. They have cold drinks and today they had fresh baked chocolate cookies. Great experience all the way around.

Exemplary service. Michaelene Reeder is a hair GODDESS! If your looking for a hip retro-​chique boutique this is an excellent find. The friendliness of the stylest and the goodies in the back are a nice touch. Kudos Ladies!

This salon has an amazing youthful vibe but it doesn’t feel exclusive to one age group or sex. The girls are so talented they can do everything from classic hair to something a little more wild.
I’ve been seeing Beckie for about two years now and I’ve never been happier with the color or the health of my hair (natural brunette that goes blonde a lot).
All the products at the store are there because they believe in the results. No crap products and are just oily and weird.
If you want to go somewhere and feel at home getting your hair cut, this is the place. From the teal walls to the fresh cookies and fridge in the back, this place has some great, happy energy.

Love love love this place! Very professional, but relaxed atmosphere! Beckie, jennifer, and Dana are all very passionate about their work and it shows in the finished product, which is my hair that always looks fabulous!!! I highly recommend this salon to everyone. You’ll all looooooove it!

Having your hair done can either be a joyous event where you walk out feeling amazing or the total opposite. I’ve been going to Dana for the past five years and never have I walked out of Hair Lovin feeling anything but refreshed and beautiful! Can I also mention she always has yummy fresh cookies to snack on? If Dana isn’t available, Jennifer and Becky are also very talented hair artists as well. If you’re looking for a new home for your hair, look no further.

I was a first time customer who came in with a hefty request and received beyond exceptional service from not only Jennifer, but the entire staff. Unfortunately I did not schedule enough time for my hair coloring request, however Jennifer went above and beyond to ensure that I walked out with exactly what I wanted. Not only was she patient, thorough and meticulous, she took extra time out of her schedule to finish my hair. The result was a beautifully vibrant peacock ombré. I could not be more pleased and am happy to say I have found my niche after searching for 3 years in KC. The staff is respectful, upbeat, and work as a team! I would highly recommend Hair Lovin’ :) Professional on every level.

I’ve been going to get my hair cut and colored at Hair Lovin’ for over a year now and I cannot rave enough about this place. All the stylists are so awesome at what they do and make you feeling like a million bucks when you walk out that door. Beckie is awesome at making your hair look the way you want it to look. I’ve seen her do some funky colors on others and let me tell you… this girl is versatile. I highly recommend this place to anyone that’s looking for a new salon or anyone that’s just looking a for a change. I wish someone had told me about this place when I first moved to KC. I won’t be going anywhere else.

First off I called because I had bleached my hair and it was a horrid bright orange/​yellow and my 21^st is a day away. At first they didn’t have any openings then heard my story and they were completely sweet and got me in! I showed my stylist I picture of an auburn red I found on Pinterest and my hair looks EXACTLY like what I showed her! This place is awesome and I’ll definitely be going back! Thank you ladies for being amazing! That’s hard to come by! I don’t know what I would of done without you all!

I used Jennifer first for make-​up for an event but loved her so much that I went back later to get my hair-​cut. Jennifer’s very warm and friendly, and she’s always willing to answer any of my questions and try new things on my hair. She also doesn’t try to push me to buy the products she uses on my hair which I appreciate!
The place just has such a warm and friendly vibe. And I love their online booking system where it’s easy to schedule my cut, color, and eyebrow wax all together. I don’t even live or work near there anymore but still make the drive there. The prices are competitive and affordable compared to other salons. Overall, just great staff and great service!

i went to Jennifer after she cut my 20 year old daughters hair, which also shows her versatility btw, she did a great job! I am so happy I went! I will be going back and will also take my younger daughter there. So glad I found this place! It is a hidden gem.

I was in town just for the weekend and was lucky enough to find out about this great salon. And luckily I found Becky. The best hair style I’ve had in a long time, and the price was right!

I LOVE Big Hair Lovin’!!! I found Beckie a few years ago and she’s the best thing that has ever happened to me & my hair! She is an expert with color and her ability to design a range of styles is unbelievable. She is truly talented. I would follow Beckie to the moon if I needed to. Luckily, she in a darling new little shop in downtown OP. The other two stylists at Big Hair Lovin’ are also as sweet as pie.
