Grapes & Paints

Had a great time at Grapes & Paints. Makes even the artisitcally challenged people create works of art! Great for parties or a couple’s evening. Bring your favorite beverage and have a great time!

My salon had our Christmas party here we had a blast! All laughing at ourselves and each other. We brought our own food and drinks and even those who didn’t drink really enjoyed themselves. I already have recommended Grapes and Paints to several people and I’m already trying to find a way back! I have never painted before and my owl turned out pretty cute, as did everyone else’s!

My first time at a place like this and I had a great time! Who’d thought this night would re-​spark my creative side. We had a large group and brought in our own snacks and drinks. The instructors were great and attentive to the entire group. Can’t wait to do this again!

I hosted a private party with 8 of my friends a couple weeks ago and had an amazing time! We had a blast and a memorable evening. The studio is great, perfect for group events. They supply everything but the alcohol, and provide wine glasses, bottled water, etc. Our artist was Mandy — none of us walked in with any artistic skills, but she was fun, energetic, and encouraging — I was amazed with my artwork and had one of those accomplished «wow, did I make that?!» moments. The locations is very convenient and easy to get to, easy to park at, and I love how it’s a separate building of its own. I can’t wait to be back here again with my friends!

There was a beach picture that was close to what I was wanting to paint (with French doors). I signed up with Grapes and Paints, as of all the ones I’d seen locally at this type of paint store was the most attractive of all.
Mandy was our artist of the evening, and she was fun and encouraging. We were encouraged to branch out on our own if we wanted to adjust our painting. I did, and I’m glad. I left out the doors, and added another palm tree, and some starfish. I’m very pleased with how it turned out, and now I might even be able to paint a similar one on my own, thanks to getting out of my comfort zone, and Mandi’s tips. It isn’t Monet by any means, but it means something to me, and I like it.
It was a busy two hours, but I think everyone had fun. I really enjoyed seeing other people’s paintings as well, and the liberties that they took with theirs.

As a birthday gift, my bfff treated me to an evening at Grapes and Paints, and we had a great time.
We arrived on time, not knowing exactly what to expect, but with a bottle of wine in hand. We put on aprons, opened the wine, poured a glass and took a seat. The instructors hand out the palettes with paint, and guide you step by step through the specific painting you are creating. Like Brandi C, my bfff is a bit of a perfectionist, so as she painted she uttered curse words under her breath, riddled with her perfectionistic anxious tendencies. I was doing much better, until I had a major screw up, due to me not listening to the directions. Whoops. An instructor swooped in and assured me that my mistake could be corrected with little noticeable damage.
I am pleased with the final product, and had a lot of fun creating it.
I would recommend this activity for a date or a low key girl’s night out. Check out the website if you are interested in attending a class, and keep in mind that you can attend a «freestyle Sunday» and paint without the guidance of an instructor. Also, check local websites for coupons (living social, groupon, etc), to score a great deal on the price.

I booked a private party as a family gathering and this event ended up being the highlight of our holiday week! There were the obvious concerns at first… variety of ages (grand kids 10, 13 to grandparents in their 70s). We have a few non-​creatives and perfectionists in the group, but things couldn’t have turned out better.
We chose to paint «Paradise» with owner, Amy’s guidance and instructor, Wanda was extremely patient. We brought wine and ordered pizza and they provided water.
Turns out the paints dry pretty quickly, so it was easy for Wanda to guide us through «repair» work and everyone finished with something to be proud of.
Without question, we will rebook and choose a different painting for future family gatherings in KC! Thanks to Amy and Wanda for giving us a priceless family memory!

So when one of my friends asked me if I wanted to go to grapes and paints, I was pretty baffled by what to expect. Im really great at drinking wine, but definitely a terrible artist. I decided to go, my first class, was painting the KU Jayhawks head. These instructors are amazing at making sure your end product turns out a masterpiece, thorough step by step instructions and direction, even the worst artist out there could make something amazing here. I have gone again since then, and was still amazed at the work of art I walked out with. Being able to enjoy a nice adult beverage while doing so just makes it better. Definitely plan to go again, and again.

Well, I learned last night that, while I am crafty, I am not a painter! I am also a perfectionist who tends to get stressed out when things I make don’t turn out the way I want them to… and yet, I’m still giving Grapes and Paints 4 stars, because I ended up having a pretty good time and I think this is a fun concept. (And I can’t blame them for my lack of artistic talent!)
I bought a Living Social deal awhile back, as my husband and I like to do some different activities for date night, and the offer was not only a great deal but also seemed like something that would be fun. Plus, it got us out of the house on a weeknight! Woo Hoo! So, we arrived, bottle of wine in hand, and in short order we were painting. There was actually a pretty large group of people there — a few couples, a mother and daughter, and a large birthday party, and everyone was friendly and having fun. Everyone was also kind to everyone else regarding our different artistic «styles» — there was some good natured teasing, but even I didn’t feel too bad about my not so great piece of «art»!
All of the supplies were provided for us, including our palettes of paint, and clean up is included as well, which was really nice. Many of us had absolutely no prior experience with any kind of painting (elementary school doesn’t count!), but the instructor was patient, and walked around the room several times offering suggestions and help. She kept everyone at relatively the same speed, and was encouraging whenever someone expressed concern over any paint related issues they might be having. She was also quick to compliment different aspects of everyone’s painting.
For the guys out there, my husband turned out to be a reasonable painter, and had a really good time, even though men were certainly in the minority last night. He said he liked trying something new and different, and would go back again.
I don’t know that my finished piece will ever grace any walls, though it is growing on me! However, I would go back for another date night, or with a group of friends — and that should be a ringing endorsement! If even a perfectionist who sucks at painting had a good time at Grapes and Paints, I think just about anyone would enjoy themselves here.

I went here on a work event specifically for women in our office. There were about 13 of us and we all had a fantastic time!
Initially, I was concerned I wouldn’t be able to find it because I was told it’s basically in the Home Depot parking lot. In reality, it’s just beside the parking lot and very easy to find once you get in the shopping park.
The entrance is very inviting and leads right into the painting/​eating/​drinking space. We brought wine and beer which we were able to keep chilled due to their large fridge. The layout provided plenty of space for us to chit chat prior to the painting.
The painting supplies were all waiting for us when we came in the door and we had two women who are art teachers lead us in our paintings. We ended up actually doing 2 paintings (wine glasses & trees) and we got to pick which one we wanted to do. I selected the wine painting.
The artist instructors were wonderful! They gave great direction and were incredibly helpful when anybody had a problem or question.
It was also quite relaxing and fun to joke around with the other co-​workers while making our paintings.
Honestly, everybody’s paintings came out pretty well! I might even hang mine somewhere!
Highly recommended for any event but especially things like birthday parties, bachelorette parties or working social events.

I’ve never painted before and was a little nervous on how this would turn out. The entire experience was a blast. They let you bring your own beer or wine which helps take the edge off. Walking you step by step through the process of creating a masterpiece, you can stop and get help at any time. At the end, we had two paintings that are hung on the wall and have already booked our next visit! Too fun!

I celebrated my 40^th birthday with 15 friends. Everyone had a blast and we all left with something we were proud of. We brought in lots of food and wine, and we still had plenty of time to eat and drink while we were painting. Everyone was so patient even though we took a long time, and they were very encouraging. I loved that they made up our palettes with lots of colors so everyone could choose the colors they wanted to use. I will definitely go back!

You HAVE to go! A group of 10 girlfriends and I went last night, and I haven’t stopped talking about it since I left! The cute ambiance, flowing wine, and good group made it fabulous. You don’t have to «worry» if you weren’t an art major, or competing to be the next Picasso. It is ZERO pressure, and the instructors make it a relaxed and enjoyable! If you’re looking for something a little different than your favorite wine bar, and can hold a paint brush, head to Grapes and Paints! Everyone had a great time, and I highly recommend it.

I was very impressed with this place! It was a fun atmosphere and very entertaining. I would love to come back and have girls night here again. I think the price is also very reasonable and the owners are very friendly and helpful!

Grapes and Paints was amazing! My group of girlfriends typically does a wine night once a month and this was something completely different and unique from the usual… it was definitely a nice change. The instructor and the owner were VERY patient and helpful with us. I will be back again with friends but may also try it out as a date night or with my daughter. HIGHLY RECOMMENED!

This place is awesome! If you’re looking for something different to do around KC this place is ideal. It’s a perfect place to take a date as well as finding out a little about your artistic abilities. I highly recommend it.

This past Sunday I went to Grapes & Paints with five of my friends. It was such a great time. We all decided to paint the wine glass and none of us knew how to drawl. We were allowed to bring our own food and wine to enjoy while we paint. The owner and artist are great and patient. We all left happy with our paintings and enjoyed a good time with friends. Great for a friends birthday party or just to have a night out with friends. Definitely coming back! GOOD time ;)
