I usually have good experiences at Beauty Brands but my most recent has made me decide never to go back. I asked for a haircut. I told Matt how much I wanted off. My hair was all the same length. Without asking me, Matt angled the front of my hair. I did not ask for this and he never asked if it was okay. Now I can either cut off five more inches of my hair, or wait until my hair grows five inches and cut all of it off. For someone who has been trying for seven years to grow out her hair, this is absolutely unacceptable. The worst part is that he didn’t ask me about it, tell me that he was doing it before it was over, or mention it at the beginning. Now I’m stuck between hair I absolutely hate and cutting off an additional five inches.

Sorta surprised I haven’t reviewed this yet. Its alright. I get my eyebrows waxed there by an esthetician — that has always been flawless in my opinion, and if I could remember her name off the top of my head, I would give her great props. Great service and very friendly from her. Its just awkward to walk in sometimes. Sometimes the people follow you around as if you are going to try and steal something, when all you are doing is just browsing, other times, its impossible to get anyone to even acknowledge you. The liter sale is definitely great(even though its gone up and up every year lately) — still a great buy, and will ALWAYS bring me back to stock up. Great variety on brands, and they do run good sales/gifts for certain sales.

I got my hair done by Whitney and she was amazing. I got highlights and a cut. She listened to exactly what I wanted with my color and it turned out to look so good and natural! With my cut she had to fix another stylists mistake. She was honest with me about the how bad it was. When it the cut was over with its was so good. Overall I’m so happy with everything about my hair. I will definitely be coming back to her.

We were in from out of town. My wife went in for a simple shampoo and curl. The girl was rude and unprofessional and unwilling to do what was necessary to do what she was asked to do. Won’t be coming here again.

I had my hair colored and cut this past weekend by Julie. She is great! She took extra time to make sure everything was perfect and my hair feels and looks so soft. The color is beautiful! I’ll definitely be going back :)

The lady who cut my hair was Alex. She was really nice and friendly. We decided to cut my bangs and ahh I was scared but actually ended up loving it ! I wouldn’t mind going back to seeing her again at all. Thank you! :))))

I give this beauty brands five stars for one reason: Kim, one of the estheticians. I have been going to her for five years(despite living 30 – 40 minutes away) because she is a miracle worker with eyebrows. I always get tons of compliments on my brow shape, and it’s all thanks to her. And not only does she do a great job, but she is SOGENTLE. Seriously, the least painful brow waxes ever. If you are looking for a great experience, book with Kim!

I don’t typically do a lot of shopping here, but after a TERRIBLE experience with an eyebrow butcher this summer, I do come here to get my eyebrows waxed. They have several estheticians who actually know what they are doing, and though you can expect to pay a little bit more(17 $), they really do a great job. I highly recommend Beauty Brands for your waxing needs.

Ugh. I was über excited to visit Beauty Brands. I had never been in one before, but had heard they carry awesome products and was eager to check it out. All I have to say is, it is AMAZING how one extremely inattentive and rude employee can make you not EVER want to go back to a place. I had worked in customer service for years, and therefore am a huge stickler for helpful and POLITE staff. I came in and walked right past this employee, and she didn’t even acknowledge me. I was looking for a specific line, and had been perusing when she finally came up and demanded if I need help. I asked her if they carried this specific product, and all she said was«No,» and walked away. Seriously? I know you can’t make the product materialize out of thin air, but do your job and offer to help in another way. «No, but have you seen this product that is similar?» Don’t just snarl one word and walk away. She had been completely pleasant to another customer, so my boyfriend and I felt she probably thought I was not worth her time since I was younger. Which she must have figured meant poor. Sorry, Honey, I have a good job. But I definitely won’t be spending any money at your location. Treat all your customers equally, and at least attempt to be helpful. NEVER just walk away like they are a waste of your time.

Sad to say since it’s so close but I will avoid this location with all costs. Managers are rude, people are unprofessional and it’s just a flat out awful location. I’d rather drive farther to the 95th street location or to Ulta in Olathe. Run away!

For my 99th review I choose beauty brands :) I walk in feelin ugly :( But I walk out feelin beautiful :) Not because I got my hair did, but because the products they sell are top notch! I know beauty is hours away :) Extensive OPI selection, as well as China Glaze, Every professional hair product imaginable. The staff is always friendly and very helpful!

If you are a guy, my advise would be to stop the Russian roulette of haircuts from Great Clips or SportsClips. Myself, I grew tired of these franchises’ inconsistencies, turnovers, and mysterious scalp massage offers. Though a Beauty Brands might be a little costlier and seem more effeminate(in name and décor) than a SportsClips, these negatives are soundly trumped by Beauty Brands’ consistently great haircuts and the ability to make appointments(and for the stylist to keep them!). For this Overland Park location, I would recommend Lindsay G. She cuts both my brother’s shorter hair and my longer hair. She has been cutting my hair for a year, and I’ve been extremely happy.

I’d probably give this place 3 stars normally because it’s a huge chain that doesn’t have anything to boast in terms of quality. However, the Overland Park Beauty Brands gets 5 stars solely because of their esthetician Emily. Ladies, Emily will be your new holy grail in the usually unholy land of waxing. This girl is professional, friendly, and just terrific at her job not to mention QUICK! My advice to Beauty Brands: give Emily a raise and do everything you can to keep her because she’s the only reason you got a 5 star rating!

The quality control here is terrible: one day you get a good stylist, the next day you get hooked up with someone who couldn’t make the cut(har har) at Great Clips. Twice I’ve found someone I liked and they end up quitting so I can’t even ask for them by name. I’ve tried asking the receptionist for recommendations for someone who knows how to style men’s hair and both times they’ve just paired me with one of their male stylists as if men have some intrinsic sense how to cut another man’s hair? I have noticed that the men do have a better attitude than the women, most of whom feel they’re wasting time cutting a guy’s hair and never put in an effort.

Beauty Brands over in Overland Park is my exception to the rule on chain salons. Danielle treats me «oh so» good having been there only twice, I feel like a local. My stylist knows me and we’re already planning a fun night on the town. Top that naysayers?! It’s hard to find a great salon beyond the buzzcut for guys. As I say that, I actually did go for the buzz this time rather than a style. Perhaps a hint of irony here but this buzz was no ordinary lawnjobbie. Danielle knew how to contour the buzz effectively over my skull to make it look just right, going shorter on the sides for the right effect. After her explanation and the finished product, I felt like Beckham, only with auburn hair, cooler, and not as.. . well, you get the point. Prices at BB are still comparable to most, and I always love the smell of the back area. Scratch that, I love the smell of the entire joint. I probably could just loiter for an hour or so for my addiction. The appointment setter always is a breath of fresh air. The populated area does feel a little suffocating and not as intimate for a stranger to rub all over that scalp of yours. The smallness is something to be missed. Even still, I never feel like I’m in one of those«JC Penny» salons. You know what I’m talking about.

Run away! I went to this location because it’s very close to my apartment. The stylist they put me with was Michael. I’ve always been a bit weird about men cutting my hair, but he was the only one available and I really wanted my hair cut. I had brought along a photo of myself from several years prior when I had my hair cut right at my shoulders and asked him to cut my hair to the same length. I even said«I want it to touch my shoulders». Plain English. He started chopping away and I drifted off to Lala-Land, which I typically do when I’m bored. At one point I noticed that the scissors were a bit high up on the back of my neck and got a bit worried. When Michael happened to turn my chair a bit I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror and nearly screamed – my hair was just above my chin line. I demanded that he stop and he went got into an argument over the length of my hair and his apparent blindness – he kept insisted that my hair looked exactly like it did in the photograph. My hair was very definitely touching my shoulders, when now it was nowhere near. He kept denying it and it was absolutely maddening! After 10 minutes of arguing, I had him just finish the haircut because it was too late at this point to do anything about it. He ignored me while finishing up, and when I left he said to me «Next time you get a haircut, be sure to be more clear when you’re explaining what you want». RUDE! I paid for the haircut, though I didn’t want to. I did not leave a tip. It wasn’t a BAD haircut, but it was extremely short for my taste and for the first few days I absolutely hated it. In fact, I went home and bawled that night. I did call the manager the next day and they offered to refund my money. I declined the refund; I just wanted them to know the situation. I’ve been back to this location one other time, and it was okay. The staff here seem a bit snobby and not too concerned with their customers. I advise driving a few more miles west and hitting the Beauty Brands off I-35.
