The food was exceptional, staff was amazing and very kind! A tad expensive but sushi is always a treat for us. Stuffed mushrooms are awesome, really love the spicy mini lobster roll also. They surprised my best friend with fried ice cream for her birthday and sang as well… so sweet of them. This was a great first impression and we will definitely be going back.

Some of the best sushi I have had in the area. Great food presentation made the table conversation. Server was knowledgeable and very attentive. Highly recommend this place if you like sushi.

This is my family’s favorite restaurant in Oswego. My teenage son who in the beginning didn’t want to go because he is not going to like sushi(although he never had sushi before) went there and ordered a nice ribeye steak(great selection of non sushi courses), after a few times going there he just orders Sushi now. Great owners and always great service. My wife and I are known by a first name basis and are always welcomed with a sincere hello. you’ll love it.

Decided to try this place after seeing it on Unilocal!Glad that I took the time to check it out … it was very good! Started with a friendly greeting from the Sushi Chefs as I walked in! I ordered the Crazy Dragon Maki Rolls, which were EXCELLENT! Beautiful presentation and incredibly tasty. I also ordered the Chicken, which I assumed would come out in the typical cubed Hibachi style. Instead, it came out as whole chicken breasts with sautéed veggies and fried rice. It had a teriyaki flavor which was great and came with Miso soup and salad with ginger dressing. I recommend checking this place out!

This sport was empty when we went, got one appetizer, 2 rolls and some tuna, they brought out everything one at a time which drives me absolutely crazy, bring it out all at once… One person finishes there meal before the other gets there’s, who wasn’t to eat like that? The sushi was just okay but I wasn’t expecting much. Pretty pricy too for what they give you. Service was okay, it’s casual spot, nothing fancy, nothing special.

Chicken Fried Rice is very good, ask for Yum Yum sauce if you’re a fan of Sakamotos. Had 2 rolls, spicey moki mono and Kiss of Fire. Moki was very good and large pieces. Kiss of fire was excellent. Atmosphere was pretty neat though not the greatest booths.

Stopped with two non-sushi eaters. They had good choices too. Lots of good food. Worth the stop!

Came here as a last minute Valentine’s Day date, since I’m a chronic procrastinator and we were trying to eat slightly healthier. We wanted to try a new place & thought we’d give this place a try based on the Unilocal reviews. We’re so glad we did. The place is kinda smaller and you’d probably drive right past it as it’s in a strip mall with Ace Hardware and a bunch of other stores. We had reservations at 7 and arrived just before it. We were greeted warmly and seated immediately. Every employee we passed on the way to our table was very warm, friendly, genuinely saying hi. Nice start and touch! The place has a good overall décor and we were seated in a corner booth. The only thing I’d change is make the place a little darker to add to the ambience & give the booths padded. The booth we were sitting in was all hard wood but we had some black leather seat backs and cushions to aid our comfort. Our waitress for the evening was Rebecca and she was the best! Extremely warm, genuine, friendly, telling us what the best rolls were, what to stay away from, etc. We were seated & she took our drink order after a few minutes. Kelly had a mango martini which she loved. I had a Cap’n & Diet and it was very good. We perused the menu, though I had an idea of what I had wanted by looking at the reviews, pics and online menu. We ordered the poke tuna appetizer & then had 4 different maki rolls: the Kiss of Fire(I’m a man. Sushi. Flames. How do I NOT order this?), the Green Dragon, a Caterpillar roll & the Lobster Mountain(a VD special). Rebecca said we chose excellently! Always good to hear. We waited maybe 5 minutes before the appetizer came out. It lasted maybe all of 5 seconds. The rest of the rolls came out about 10 minutes later. Everything was extremely fresh, tasty, bigger than we normally see at a sushi place and priced about the same as most everywhere else. We loved every bite of all of them. The Kiss of Fire had some hot spice in it, which this gringo isn’t a huge fan of, but its wasn’t enough to really deter me or not have a few more pieces. For us, Swordfish in Batavia is usually the bar for our sushi. We had mentioned this to Rebecca as she had asked what we thought. & she said that the chef actually came from there! How awesome, yet funny! We ordered just the right amount of food as it was almost a struggle to finish it all. We asked for the check and it came within a minute or 2. I gave her the credit card & we were good to go. As we left, Rebecca smiled at us, waving while the rest of the staff all smiled and said thanks for coming, have a great night, etc. All in all, some very minor décor dings for me but we loved this place & will gladly go back for more! Décor was nice & clean. Service, both from our waitress & others, was warm, friendly, prompt, etc. Our glasses were never empty, nor close to it. Food was excellent, right up there with the best we’ve had in Illinois! We’ll definitely be back & hopefully have Rebecca as our waitress again!

I just don’t understand all of the 5 star reviews on here. I was really excited to try this place out after seeing how many Unilocalers enjoyed their experience, but mine was completely different! I am going to start by saying that the service here was excellent and I would hate to undermine any of the waitstaff because they all did a great job. Where my 2 stars come from is the food. I tried the combination tempura appetizer, 2 sushi rolls, and the spicy chicken ramen. The tempura starter was extremely disappointing– it literally had zero flavor… not even a pinch of salt. The sushi rolls that we ordered were ok in regards to flavor and quality of ingredients but they were rolled so loosely that they were impossible to eat without having them fall completely apart. This seems like an amateur mistake. Lastly, the spicy ramen brought the heat-but that was it. It was another exceedingly bland dish with an over-cooked egg and very little chicken to be found.

Stopped in Friday night about 730 pm and we were seated right away. The menu looked great and we were ready for a cocktail and had questions for our server. The place was moderately busy. So we waited. And then we waited some more. Another couple arrived and had water on their table and a server right away. I tried to get someone to acknowledge us and was completely ignored. When another group arrived and was served right away we had enough. Waiting for 15 – 20 minutes when you are famished is not a good time. So we left but my wife did let the bartender/manager? know why and she responded with a weak«sorry». We headed down rte. 34 to another sushi restaurant and they salvaged the night with prompt and attentive service. Shu’s, we will never be back!

Amazing! The menu is extensive and unique. Everything is made to order. Nothing is sitting around and you can taste the freshness in everything you order. The waitstaff is super attentive and you can tell they take a lot if pride in the food and really appreciate that you are there. Don’t let the fact that is in a strip mall turn you away. Once you walk inside, the décor is very tasteful and modern. Best sushi anywhere in the area!

Went in last night on a lark and left totally surprised on how good this really is. Very clean Japanese styled place with staff being very attentive, suggestive and fun. You can see the owners putting a lot of love into and by the reviews so far, it’s paying off. Starter was Ox Tail Gyoza suggested by the owners wife. Perfectly cooked, just enough sear and not what I was expecting. Main course was another special suggested by owner; Crunchy Spicy Crab. This was a lightly fried tuna with shredded crab topped with fish eggs over pressed steamed rice. Very spicy indeed and was forewarned it was and should be prepared. At the end I wanted something for lunch tomorrow and ordered Chicken fried rice, very large portion for the price. Sampled some before I left and enjoyed it. Service, water was always topped off without asking, a very limited beer selection but the crafted cocktail list was solid. For demographics; a nice variety of people in the place. Good for a date night but also good for a group of folks. A solid take out business too as I notice a steady stream of people coming and going. Next time I’ll sit at the sushi bar and give a few items a go.

No Wonder the reviews are so great here. Wow. The sushi was high quality, beautifully done with service that made us feel like we were friends of theirs. The atmosphere was comfy, large space and very well done. We had the Tuna Poki, a few rolls and the Flaming Fire roll or something. All were very fresh tasting and awesome to look at. The kids menu items were great too, our son had the teriyaki chicken one. I can’t wait for us to go back.

BESTSUSHIEVER. The chef is phenomenal, the seared tuna was fantastic, the kiss of fire is by far my favorite. There is no reason for me to have to go all the way to naperville for good sushi. We had a great waiter, he was very nice and was very knowledgeable about all the sushis and he knew exactly what you would like. I highly recommend Shu’s Sushi. It was outstanding. They are very hospitable and very helpful. Five stars all the way guys. I will definitely be coming back!
