JJ’s in four words: big, fast, chipper, rare. Sandwiches are stacked high with signature, house roasted beef, scandalously pink and fall-apart tender. Sizes decoded: small = hamburger bun, regular = bulkie roll, super = onion roll. Go super, because hey, that’s you. Also available, hot pastrami, burgers, cold cuts and other meaty fodder, but when your namesake is roast beef, eat the namesake. They suggest it with cheese, mayo and BBQ, yet everything about that«New England tradition» hides the beef itself. Horseradish cream and a side of au jus is all you need. Fast. Five meals brought to our table(one of three in the joint) in less than ten minutes, with a hefty suspicion five of those ticks went towards the well done burger(before you freak out, it was for a kid). Folks at the counter are incredibly friendly, engaging more than a few locals who passed in for a quick grab & go lunch. Rare. As in a reasonably priced take-away spot in the heart of downtown Osterville. Try the meal deal: regular beef, fries and unlimited fountain soda for $ 11. Also rare? Meat that bleeds a little. Both appreciated.

Great roast beef in the Cape — basic take out shop with some tables — rb not as prevalent around here as north shore but this is a good one

Big fan. Terrific roast beef and sauce is pretty good. Reminds me of Harrison’s. Seriously. Almost wonder if there is a relative up there. Stop in whenever I can.

Killer Roast Beef, Wings and Fries. Lil secret… the pastrami is a hidden gem. Me? My last supper would be a Super Beef with Mayo and American Cheese and I’d die happy. Stick a fork in me I’m done!

So… I’ve hear some good reviews about JJ’s over the last few months and had to take a ride out to Mashpee today. On the way back I thought now would be a good time to give it a try. Sorry sir we ran out of roast beef, it was a busy lunch. Its 1: pm. isn’t that still lunch time? Part of me thinks… wow it must be pretty damn good to run out by 1. The other part asks… How can a business with Roast Beef in the name run out of roast beef? Being an Osterville native I have high hopes for the place and will give it a go next time I’m out that way at lunch time BEFORE1 I hope

Cheeseburger, super chicken cutlet 6/10, two fries, two mug rootbeers. $ 24 Fries weren’t worth 3.95 each. Cheeseburger was decent. Ehhh. Reminded me of Cottonwood, Ca… a little mom n pop burger joint, hole in the wall. Staff was pleasant. Good if you just want a burger or roast beef sandwich.

Great RB au jus on an onion roll. With or without sauce. Takeout or eat in. Makes for a nice lunch. Owner is very welcoming.

Great RB sandwich. Being from the North Shore it was a reminder of home. Super Beef is overflowing with roast beef. I could have one every day. Maybe I’ll go now…

In the world of manly sandwiches, these guys do it right. From the roast beef to the sauces to the delicious onion rolls to the ice cold Mountain Dew Code Red eyeing me from the cooler this is a nice lunch/quick dinner destination. You really can’t beat the prices here and I promise you won’t leave hungry so what’s there to lose?

I love this place! They have great roast beef sandwiches and an awesome French dip… But what you also don’t know is that the wings are some of the best around, the bacon cheeseburger is always great, the Cobb salad is tasty, and their fries rock. I would highly recommend JJ’s!

First time there and I got the Pulled Pork sandwich. It must have weighed 3 lbs, it was only 6 bucks and it was delicious. Great find, I had no idea it was there I will be back again sonn and often.

Hands Down the best Roast Beef sandwich I have ever had. The horseradish sauce is amazing and kicks the sandwich to another level of tasty. The beer battered onion rings topped the whole meal off. I love this place. The cost? Cheaper than A Burger King value meal and 100 times more fresh and filling. I had to put half my sandwich away for lunch the next day. Give JJ’s a try it is worth it.

Four stars for a ho-hum take out place. The highlight for me is the Chicken Cutlet Sub. Crispy battered crust, very fresh buns with that odd flavored mayo I love that I’m sure comes from a giant tub. If you order a cheeseburger sub they ask how you want the meat cooked. A nice touch I appreciate considering how varied other sub shops cook their beef. A nice place that has very serviceable product.

The super beef sandwich is outstanding. I go back here for lunch and get this godsend sandwich as much as I can. Its tucked back in where the old Sweet Tomatoes used to be, kind of hard to find in the back of the parking lot but go on an adventure and find the holy grail of roast beef. You will not be disappointed.

After months of talking about trying JJ’s we decided a recent Sunday would be the perfect opportunity to stop in and finally see what this place was all about. In a town with limited sandwich options that mostly tend toward the beansprout-wheat-alfalfa-lowfat-ladida, I secretly had very high hopes that this place would deliver on back to basics hearty roast beef. Unfortunately there were a few things that just didn’t live up to my high expectations. We went in and placed a take-out order that consisted of 2 Super Roast Beef Sandwiches, a kid’s meal of their chicken tenders and a side of their crinkle cut fries. First hiccup: the timing. We placed our orders and waited. And waited. And waited. 30 minutes passed and multiple parties came and went before we got our food. The staff was friendly and apologetic, offering to throw in a free soda or chips to make up for the wait. But it was still a mystery why there was a wait in the first place? It made us wonder whether some of the order had been ready and sitting out to get cold that whole time. * More on that later * Food in hand we headed home. Second hiccup. Once home we found they hadn’t put any au jus in with the roast beef– despite a specific request(and second reminder) to do so. This minor mistake ending up being really unfortunate because the roast beef, while tasty, was dry and in dire need of some jus. The chicken tenders were… chicken tenders? Bonus points for making their kids meals huge– plenty for kid or adult and it came with a heaping side of fries. They tasted alright but I think they’d been the aforementioned victim of sitting out on the counter because they were cool bordering on cold when we got home(and home is less than 5 minutes from JJ’s) Overall– I’d say this was an alright meal and I appreciated the staff’s friendly attempts to rectify how long the takeout order took. But the missing au jus and the fact that half our order ended up suffering from the long(and never explained) wait time makes this only so-so. Since a girl can’t live on alfalfa alone, I’ll hold out hope we caught JJ’s on a bad day. I’m willing to give it a second shot(and a rating rethink) some other time.

I’ve enjoyed stopping here for lunch on my way to and from the beach. Great roast beef straight from the oven to the slicer to the plate, and also great burgers. The owner has always been very personable and outgoing and appreciates local patrons. Highly recommended. As a note: The sandwiches don’t come with a side, but splitting a side order of fries works well with company.
