Nice salon and helpful staff as a whole. Had haircut and colored by Song. She’s amazing! I told her how I handle my hair daily (absolutely no more than 10 min will be spent on my hair daily, at gym 5 days/​wk and need to pull into ponytail) and she was able to deliver a gorgeous cut and color. I’ve been getting compliments non-​stop. My issue is not too many stylists can cut my hair in the way that I can maintain on my own. I would say that Song is one of 3 best stylists in 15 years; I’ve lived all over the country. I’ve recommended Song to other friends and will be back in a few months. Thanks!

I recently moved to the area and wanted to get my hair done. I found this salon on Unilocal and decided to give it a try. I am so happy I did! Ariel was amazing! She walked me through each step and delivered exactly what she said she would. Love this place and would definitely go back!

This place is amazing. Came here and had a great experience. I came with my cousin and walked out looking like dolls! Love the later hours and all the women in here are just so nice! Will be back next week for a blow dry!

A friend of mine recommended to go here to get my hair done and ask for Dawn. Since I just moved to the area I had no idea where to go. Dawn was so great, she squeezed me in for a consultation just to see what condition my hair was in and what I was looking to have done. A week later I have a great new cut and have booked another appointment for color. She is very knowledgeable and has some great ideas for my type of hair.

I live in Manhattan and take the train up every couple of months that’s how good this place is. Lorraine, the owner, knows all of her customers and is knowledgable on products and education for both customers and staff. The space is open and well-​lit. The spa is in the back in a huge space separated by a door so you can’t hear anything out front. It’s not a room, it’s a well thought out big private area for you with separate rooms and lockers that smells amazing and is relaxing and inviting. Marilyn will give you the best facial of your LIFE. I love it here!

Ruth Hayashi is the most wonderful waxer and very special human being. For such delicate work, she uses compassion and highly professional demeanor to perform her magic.

The quality of work is good but this place is way overpriced. The shampoo girl was really nice but everyone else did not make you feel all that welcomed. It was also not made clear that if they blow out your hair after it is cut, it is an extra charge. I have never experienced this and it definitely rubbed me the wrong way – I can’t wrap my head around it. I will not be returning and am in search of a different salon. I guess if you want a decently priced cut in Westchester you have to ask for junior stylists?

I had an outstanding experience at Shine recently! I have naturally curly dark hair (with a few pesky greys coming through!) and got a fantastic cut and single process color from Kathy. As a bonus, unbeknown to me, I booked my appointment during their 10-​year anniversary celebration and received a free surprise polish change and deep conditioning hair treatment. Score! I left Shine feeling like a million bucks and will definitely be returning. The staff was also exceptionally friendly and helpful as per the other great reviews here on Unilocal.I received personal attention from the owner/​founder, who clearly cares about customer service and satisfaction.

I’ve only been to Shine for brazilian wax with RUTH. when i began brazilian waxing, i needed to find the BEST in my area. I found Shine (specifically, Ruth) in the Best of Westchester, as she’s been voted #1 repeatedly. When I learned that Vanessa Williams has Ruth do her wax, I was sold!
Ruth uses only chocolate wax, because of its natural anti-​inflammatory properties. So not only does the entire experience smell like brownies are baking, but it stings less afterward and results in less irritation to that sensitive area. She is extremely professional and quick. And most of all, she is very sanitary. she never re-​uses a waxing stick or double dips.
It costs $ 60 for existing clients each time, which is expensive but worth it. It is a little more (maybe $ 80?) for first timers.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

My hair is a great source of pride and an integral part of my overall image. That said, I have fallen victim to more than my share of bad hair cuts, color, and treatments. I’ve gone near and far, spent hundreds of dollars on the «in» look, only to wake up to the horrible reality of hair I despise. Needless to say, discovering such a gem of a salon and stylist/​colorist (Dawn Saracino) just a stone’s throw away from my home has been a gift and a privilege. Dawn has been my go-​to hair maven (both personal and editorial) for nearly 6 years, and has transitioned me from corporate-​chic, to boho-​chic, to sexy-​chic. She is passionate about her craft, and is diligent about staying on trend through classroom training, practice, and imagination. She is intuitive about hair’s behavior toward weather, stress, or age and combats it accordingly with the necessary technique. Best of all, she listens to EXACTLY what you want, and interprets it with «shear» excellence. My best kept secret– I only hope she is still available for me after I post this review. I have yet to find any hair stylist who knows EXACTLY how much warmth, depth, and Va Va Voom I need. No matter what your age (my 12 year-​old daughter is a customer too), you WILL look and feel absolutely beautiful and amazingly ageless.
As for the rest of the staff– everyone from receptionists, stylists, manicurists, and assistants create a marvelous experience for the customer. Oh yes, l should also highlight that the best scalp massages and facials (Marilyn) on the planet are available at Shine. Coffee, tea, brownies, and beautiful floral arrangements complete the SOHO-​like ambiance. This fabulous hair salon & spa is a haven for Westchester moms, brides, divas, junior divas, and socialites. A genuine find!!!

Have been going to Shine for several years, always pleased with my haircut, and pedicure. I feel pampered when I am there and look great when I leave, The salon is immaculately clean, staff is warm, welcoming, and totally professional. Have referred many friends and family here. Tony has done hair for six of my nieces weddings, and did a masterful job, tailoring the look to each of their unique personalities and styles. All of my nieces are beautiful, when Tony was done with them they were truly stunning. I highly recommend this friendly and talented staff and salon.

I’ve been going to Shine (Dawn in particular) for the past year and have been SO happy with my haircuts. The salon is beautiful and staff is always so nice. I recently got married and Dawn did my hair for my wedding. I got married on a warm day in June and took a chance and wore my hair down and wavy — it looked PERFECT and stayed all day & night, I couldn’t believe it! Dawn even called me ahead of time and recommended that I ask my florist for a certain type of flower and we could try to put it in my hair the day-​of to keep my front layers out of my face. The flower ended up looking amazing, I couldn’t have been happier with my hair or the service. I highly recommend Shine and have sent so many friends & family members to Dawn who have all been equally thrilled. If you go on a Saturday, you can even stop by the Farmer’s Market across the street

Overall, I was not satisfied, but I may try this place again and my experience there was not bad. I have pros and cons. Pros: staff was friendly, place looked clean,
Cons: $ 60 for a mani/​pedi, no nail dryer, one nail was already messed up by the time I left my parking space, 5 nails were messed up by the time I got home. I live about 6 minutes away. No tipping on credit card, did not tell me that shellac mani would take longer and was not available.

I have been to Shine Salon years ago when they were upstairs to the current location and the waxes were the best. Lorraine made you feel real comfortable and she was great. I have been looking for a place in Ossining to go get a Shellac manicure and they came up on the web. So I figured since I use to go there why not try them again. The receptionist was really friendly and sweet and very professional but when I went to start my services I went to the back of the store and the person who did my pedicure didn’t make you feel welcomed and then she started what I figured was the worse pedicure I ever received. It lasted about 20 minutes and the cost for that was $ 38.00. Not worth the money. Then we went off to get the Shellac manicure and I have had them before and when I got home the polished all bubbled up and the manicure that is suppose to go along with the cost never took place. Boy was I really disappointed and sorry but I will not be going back to them.

This salon which is located in a beautiful space with exposed brick offers exceptional services where they seem to be difficult to find (north of NYC and even harder to locate north of White Plains). I tried different services — shellac manicure, pedicure, eye brow waxing and lash dip. It is easy to understand why Shine has been named year after year in Westchester Magazine’s Best of issues. The services are top notch and the staff is both skilled and professional. The only thing I do recommend is you have to book early enough to get the time you want. A really amazing surprise on Main Street, Ossining! Yay for great services north of White Plains!

One of those popular ‘unknown’ gems that is always booked by word of mouth and the same clientele. From hair to nails to Brazilians every need is expertly sated. After checking in you’ll soon find a cup of coffee or tea in your hand with snacks and desserts in reach. The employees are very friendly and you get a sense of continuity from them that shows a good relationship between clients and staff. My haircut was exactly right and the master hair stylist offered to trim my unruly beard which has been vexing me forever. I must say I looked like Crowe from the movie ‘Gladiator’. (Yeah, right.) But close enough that it didn’t matter, so says my wife. I can’t vouch for the Brazilians but I was reassured that the store has been voted one of the best in the ‘Best of Westchester’ magazine. I treated myself to a spa pedicure and massage at my wife’s behest and found myself almost staggering out of store. And I swear on my soul that after I got into my car I discovered I had put my sweat pants on backwards! Yeah, that good. Prices were reasonable for these services and I had no doubt that I got more than my money’s worth.
