We at Yellow Tree Theatre have this dream. We see the people of this community gathering together and getting excited about theatre. We see our theatre as a meeting place where everyone feels welcome, an artistic venue where people of all ages and walks of life can mingle together. Maybe we’re a little romantic, maybe this sounds like a crazy convoluted idea, but we’re okay with that. We like crazy.

Meet the Manager

Jason P.

Manager

Jason Peterson is the artistic director and co-​founder of Yellow Tree Theatre. He received his B.F.A. in Theatre/​Acting from the University of MN-​Duluth. He Just finished playing Jason in Rabbit Hole at The Jungle Theater. Jason recently moved back to Minnesota after spending three years in New York where he appeared in ABC’s Six Degrees, Guiding Light, and As the World Turns.

I’ve been a season ticket holder at Yellow Tree for several years, and will continue to be in the future. They perform great mix… comedy, drama, and some of their plays are original material. The setting is great too. It’s on the smaller side, but it plays bigger. It definitely doesn’t feel like ‘local theater’. This is the real deal. Plus they’re non-​profit! Visit once. You’ll go back.

If you like to laugh (whether you’re a fan of plays or not) you absolutely have to come see A Hunting Shack Christmas at Yellow Tree. I’ve almost been in tears a couple times I’ve been laughing so hard. We’ve been season ticket holders for a couple years and this is by far my favorite play. And it’s only halftime or whatever they call it :-)

Just saw Next To Normal at this intimate size theater and rate it outstanding, acting and voices outstanding. I definitely rate this as a must see and am putting this theater on my go to list. Truly another gem in the twin city theater scene!

Just saw The Woman in Black. Our first visit to this theater it will NOT be our last. Extraordinary acting. The closeness of the audience to the actors brings the audience into the action.

We saw Sylvia last month and simply loved it. A touching and funny play with fine acting. This is the third play we’ve seen at the Yellow Tree and have now bought season tickets and are looking forward to seeing On Golden Pond this fall.

Don’t let the Osseo strip mall location deceive you — this is a great little theater. Recently caught one of their original shows here and was very impressed.
The theater seats about 120 so it’s small, but that means every seat is a good one. Instead of traditional theater seats (which I dread), they use outdoor chairs with mesh seats. I was surprised by how comfortable I was throughout the show.
The sound here is also fantastic. They’ve clearly invested dollars in all the right places.

My kids have attended their theatre day camps for a few summers and they LOVE it! It is top notch. My boys are really sports fans, so it is great to expose them to something different. They are now so much more poised in front of a group and can even sing solos in public with confidence! Last year my 12 year old son said the ONLY thing good about the week ending was that he wouldn’t have to eat a PBJ sandwich on Monday. each session has been very different with a new leader, yet each as professional as the last. The production at the end of the week to see what all they have learned is not to be missed. This is seriously the BEST MONEY EVER SPENT on kids’ extra-​curriculars.

I went to this little theater on Saturday for the first time to see a play called «The Movie Game». I was quite impressed with everything from the coziness of the quaint theater, to the play itself. The actors did a fantastic job. The theater itself sits in a small strip mall in the small town of Osseo.
Tickets were reasonable at $ 20 a piece.
Great place for date night!
I plan to go back to see their Christmas production– «Miracle on Christmas Lake»
