We came here after Dairy Queen proved inedible. Good choice! Leon’s provided good customer service and an excellent turtle sundae and egg nog malt. Very delicious, glad they are still open in Winter!

I got the plain olé vanilla custard. It tasted like it had some kind of sweetener added to it. Like stevia or something. Not sure if it was an off batch but I didn’t love it and really wanted to. BUT I will come back and try something different and if it is, I’ll change my review! Customer service was great!

How have I been to Oshkosh this many times without a trip to Leon’s?! With a 50’s vibe and a wide array of custard choices, Leon’s is THE place to hit when you have a sweet tooth. If you can’t decide what to get, definitely go for one of the sundaes. The grasshopper is sinfully delicious.

Terrific little old fashioned 1950’s drive-in, complete with waitresses who bring your food on a tray that they fasten to your door. My waitress recommended the beef sandwich, which I loved. Tasty, nice portion of pulled beef on a hamburger bun. In fact, it was so good, I ordered a pulled pork sandwich. A good bet, Leon’s. Oh, and the vanilla shake was very good too. I give it five stars on the drive in scale.

I have been here on a couple of different occasions, both as a quick stopover for dessert after a date, and the place was a big hit on both occasions. This place is basically an Americana throwback to the drive-ins of the 1950’s and 1960’s in small town USA. The difference here lies in the fact that it is not some kind of marketing theme, this place has been in continuous operation since that time period. Folks in the older generation(or History Channel buffs like myself) are sure to enjoy the sheer nostalgia of it all. From car hops in hoop skirts to having to turn on your headlights for service, I doubt much has changed in how this establishment does business from the way it was 50 years ago. I have never had any of the lunch or dinner items off the menu, so you will have to look elsewhere for opinions about that, but as to their signature custard, it is simply divine. It is nice and thick with a robust flavor and they have several options for how you would like it prepared. The first time I visited I had what is called an «Avalanche», which is essentially Leon’s version of a Blizzard that you would receive from Dairy Queen. The difference being that these make DQ’s take on the frozen dessert look incredibly weak by comparison. It was smooth and flavorful and they did not skimp on included toppings either. Most recently, I went with Carmel Cashew sundae, which was the ultimate mixture of sweet and salty. It was absolutely delicious. I polished off a large in rapid succession. The only bad thing about Leon’s is that you need to be mindful that this is not light frozen yogurt you are dealing with here. It is VERY thick custard and because it tastes so good you will end up gobbling it down in short order. Since chances are you do not eat stuff like this very often, it hits your gut like ton of bricks. Or, at least, that is the impact it has on me anyway. It is probably a good idea to hit the gym a little bit harder for a couple of days after a visit to Leon’s, but it is a justified sacrifice.

This was only my second experience with custard and it was awesome! Per the other reviews I ordered the turtle sundae and it did not disappoint. Creamy vanilla custard with hot fudge and hot caramel and delicious pecans. Perfection! My son ordered the peanut butter cup special that was also amazing. The waitress was sweet and service to our car quick. Well done.

Amazing sundaes with smooth and creamy custard — I highly recommend the Turtle and Dusty Trail. Portions are small for the price though. Cute little place with the car hops and their retro outfits.

Eat your Tums before ordering the Joos. The custard is why you go there. Turtle sundae is awesome.

This has to be the absolute best frozen custard I’ve ever had! It is so amazing each and every time you go. The service is so friendly and especially patient when you can’t decide which frozen custard to choose! I’m from CT but spent the summer in Oshkosh and this place was an EAA Air Academy favorite!(And mine now too) I would probably be there right now if I could!

I’ve grown up with Leon’s. They never disappoint. The best item by far is the Turtle Sundae. It’s all in the proportions. Good pecan to chocolate to ice cream ratio. I’ve never had anything besides their custard/sundaes so I can’t say. Carhop service is fantastic-they even give dog treats to pups in the car.

TURTLESUNDAE –frozen custard – clearly smoother than ice cream –a delicious specialty –draped with hot fudge & crunchy pecans SERVICE –with carhop service by tray I expected a roller-skating teen –but got a 1950s-attired full-figured woman –helpful, sweet, smiling like she enjoys her job(what a concept!) ARCHITECTURE –nostalgic Streamline-cantilevered roof plane –but turquoise & pink highway signs seriously need paint re-touching –& the all-asphalt hardscape looks tattered by winters of neglect

I think the coolest thing about Leon’s is that it hasn’t changed since the times when my grandparents would go on dates there. My dad grew up in Oshkosh, so when he’d take us to visit family out there, my grandparents would make sure to have a gallon or two of Leon’s custard waiting for us in the freezer(out east, there doesn’t seem to be anything like it!) It’s seriously some of the best ice cream I’ve ever had — the basic flavors are great on their own, & the specialty sundaes are delicious, too(especially the brownie one — TRYIT.) The only bad thing about custard is that it apparently melts really quickly, so you have to eat it just as quickly(on second thought, maybe that’s not a bad thing after all…) The spot itself is super retro — seafoam green & pink, with girls in poodle skirts bringing your custard to your car. Love it!

Leon’s and Ardy and Ed’s obviously compete for the same customers, but it’s win-win for us. We just go to both. The standout here is the custard. Rich, creamy, a wide variety of flavors and of combinations in sundaes, etc. The root beer is good too, and there’s the usual dogs and sandwiches, but to me this is more of a «dessert» place. The place looks like it time-warped in from the ‘50s, like Ardy and Ed’s, but it has its own style. Stop by if you’re in town for EAA or anything else.

At this age, its hard for me to justify eating a chili dog with gooey cheese and a Joos burger. I am always one to try everything at least once. So at least I know now that I’m not missing out on anything. The one thing I will try again was the custard! I had the turtle sundae which was pretty good. I’ll give Leon’s 3 stars for the custard!

If your in a mood for custard instead of cedar crest ice cream, go to Leon’s. Their frozen custard is world renowned and the joos burgers rock. I am from the south end of town and I am addicted to Ardy and Ed’s drive-in; however, when Ardy and Ed’s is closed for the season, Leon’s is still up and running.

I know we aren’t suppose to review places we haven’t been to recently, and it has been AGES since I’ve been to Leon’s, but I still fantasize about this place. It’s the custard place we visited during trips to Oshkosh as a kid. When I see another Culver’s I instantly think that it doesn’t compare to Leon’s. It is still the best custard I’ve ever had(sorry Ollie’s).

Boo. They mix politics into their custard. must be what makes it taste so good, yet so bad.
