Things started off ok. I met with them about trimming some bushes, removing a tree branch and pruning an overgrown rosebush. 3 – 4 Hours @$ 14/​hour. Sounded reasonable. I get a text a week later to let me know they had finished. How many hours did it end up taking? 8.25. Uhh, your estimate said 3 – 4 hours, why did it take over twice as long and why didn’t you let me know so I could approve the additional time? They ensued with a bunch of lame excuses about being sorry about the poor communication.
Whatever. Just send me a bill, I said, not wanting to deal with them further.
They sent me a bill for:
8.25 hours yard work
AND charged me for travel time (for yardwork?!? in Maine???)
AND garbage bags
AND bug spray
Ridiculous. These clowns think they can provide an estimate, do whatever, and expect you to pay them what they choose to bill you. Total Bait and Switch.
AVOID — unless of course you want to pay three times as much as you’ve been quoted and enjoy hassling with unprofessional, dishonest people.
