Check out Yes You Canvas! for a no nonsense group painting class. They keep things simple here — sit down, listen to the instructions, paint, and walk out with your own piece of art. We registered online in advance for this class located in Baldwin Park. The website is incredibly busy but my husband manged to find the calendar to make a reservation for a Saturday night class to paint the Eiffel Tower. We walked in and asked the instructor what the check-in process was. She said to grab a smock and a seat. We thought it was odd that there was no check-in process but anyone truly trying to sneak into the classes would be out like in a game of musical chairs. There was only one staff running the class of about 15 people, so we ended up starting a few minutes later than the schedule start time. There are no amenities with this painting chain. A previous class with another chain that I went to had food, drinks, and items for purchase and several staff on hand. What is nice about this chain is that you can bring your own drinks and snacks for no charge. We were happy to bring in our own bottle of wine to sip on. The instructions were clear and to the point and we finished in about two hours. Overall, the price is average for one of these trendy painting classes. Great for a group of friends or a date night. I recommend bringing your own wine or beer to add to the fun!

I wanted to try this place with my daughter for some bonding time. I got a good deal on the price. A web site was offering buy one get one so i only spent 35 $ for the 2 of us to go. We got there right at 6:30 and the place was FULL-no Seats even though i had booked a reservation 4 months earlier. The teacher had to go around the room and figure out who was not suppose to be there and then just choose to pull up 2 chairs and seat us in a spot that we had to keep turning around to see what she was doing. The instructions are step by step and easy to follow but i guess some people take longer than others. Our teacher chooses to spend the«Down time» between instructions on her phone or on the display up at the entrance and on a few occasions outside. We did finish in the 2 hour time window and i am glad i went but i think i will try another place like this next time.

Fellow Elite Unilocaler, Andrea H., and I did a painting class here recently. We had a deal so it ended up costing us $ 19 but regular pricing is $ 35. Registration was pretty simple. You pick the painting you like on the website and enter all info to sign up and register. They send an email a few days before urging you to come early and do not show up late. So the day of, we were the first 2 to show up early(15 minutes early). There was also a group of 8 ladies that ended up coming also but one of the members of the party was running late(to buy a bottle of wine a few doors down). Instead of starting the class promptly at 630pm(like the reminder email stated), the instructor waited 15 minutes to start in hopes that the girl showed up. She didn’t end up showing up until after the instructor decided to start! I was a bit aggravated since we had shown up 15 minutes early! Anyways, class instruction was fine. The instructor stands on a table the whole time and uses a ledge high on the wall to hold the canvas she will be painting. She is tiny and petite and the table seemed sturdy but still. Just odd if you ask me. On another note, she instructed at a good pace and was happy to explain things to those who found themselves falling behind. Thankfully, the piece we painted was pretty basic so it wasn’t too difficult. Overall, it was just ok. I’ve been to many, many painting classes around town and this just lacks some of the bells and whistles that others have. The environment could be a little livelier. The only music playing was what was blaring from the instructor’s iPhone. On a plus side, you are welcome to bring wine, drinks and snacks as there are none for purchase here. Our class lasted about 2 hrs even with the late start. I think $ 19 is an appropriate price for this class. The regular price of $ 35 seems steep if you ask me.
