Tubby’s Ice Cream

Let me start off with the line tubbys at the milk district was long but it was all worth it. I got a Nutella and m&m only because they didn’t have any more strawberry. Best ice cream I have ever tasted !! I give tubbys a 5 star

Tubby’s is as excellent desert treat, fantastic creamy flavor plus an excellent assortment of toppings & fun presentation highly recommend!

The best thing about Tubby’s Ice Cream is watching your dessert come to life right in front of you. Cream frozen by using Carbon dioxide is fun! Tubby’s then mixes whatever treats you’d like added in right in front if you, and they’re generous with the mix-​ins. But, sadly, it just didn’t taste great. Often the frozen cream lacked flavor (no wonder they pour the mix-​ins on). It’s also a bit expensive. I recommend Tubby’s for the experience but as a constant dessert treat, there are a lot better places around town.

We love this place! I occasionally allow myself to indulge in dairy– but only when I can really make it count, haha. This place makes excellent ice cream for you right on the spot. They are at most of the Tasty Tuesdays in the Milk District. My husband and I like to share a small regular ice cream and we order a couple pumps of caramel with chocolate chips thrown in. They pump out the cream mixture and add the caramel, then they run it under liquid nitrogen to freeze it! Fast process that looks really cool because of all of the sublimation going on. They mash it up and add the chocolate chips– voila! So good.

Tubby’s uses liquid nitrogen to create some of the creamiest ice cream in Orlando! First you pick your size and ingredients (my favorites are chocolate chip cookies and peanut butter) and then they mix them with cream and lastly add in the liquid nitrogen! This ice cream will be as smooth as velvet I promise! You’re gonna be hooked!

While trying to choose the perfect dessert to end our food truck date at Tasty Tuesdays at The Milk District, we chose Tubby’s Ice Cream.
The process they use is awesome and fun to watch and they have amazing toppings to choose from! We chose their regular ice cream flavor with Nutella and Strawberries. Let me just say… BEST.CHOICE.EVER. We got a medium and it was enough for both my husband and I. (I would’ve eaten all myself if I could have!)
Now I’ve found myself to have an ice cream craving EVERY Tuesday and I can’t wait to go back and try some of their different toppings!
Keep in mind! I believe they only take cash (I could be wrong) but their prices include tax. The medium was $ 5 and I believe the Large is $ 6.

Tubby’s Ice Cream Truck has become a fixture at many of the city’s food truck events over the past few months. I began following its progress on Facebook and finally was able to try it out last night at the Tasty Tuesday food truck get-​together in the Milk District last night. I should’ve got to it sooner, but my ice cream from last night definitely was worth the wait.
The concept is both very cool and simple — you pick a size (either one resembling a medium, with the other being a large; I’m unsure that a small size is offered), ice cream flavor (there’s «original» as well as a mint flavor) and then some toppings. This is where the fun begins as there are many from which to choose. I kept it relatively simple as well as close to the vest last night — I ordered a medium «original» ice cream with peanut butter, chocolate and Butterfinger pieces as my toppings. (This probably was overdoing it since Butterfinger essentially is peanut butter and chocolate, but I am obsessed with that duo.) I think that this was $ 5, and it was well worth the price. I can’t remember exactly, but I think that a large ice cream is somewhere between $ 6-​$ 7 (maybe even $ 6.50). The ice cream was wonderful and I ate every last possible bite.
In case you haven’t heard, Tubby’s also offers something very unique — the ice cream is infused with liquid nitrogen. I’ve wanted to try ice cream made this way for a while, especially after hearing about a place down near Lake Buena Vista that used to do this. (I can’t remember its name, but I think it now is closed or moved its location to Winter Garden or Haven … can’t recall, exactly. I’m pretty sure there’s a review of it here on Unilocal,but I don’t remember its name.) Tubby’s does its ice cream in the same manner and is more accessible to me, so I’m very glad to have finally tried it. I wasn’t sure if I would because of the closure/​move of that other place I mentioned. I may need to give Tubby’s a few more tries so I truly can differentiate it from pre-​frozen ice cream that is served nearly everywhere else that serves ice cream, but even after just my one try last night I assuredly can say that there’s some quality here. I likely will bump this up to a full 5-​star review if my future visits are at least as satisfactory as was last night’s.

(P.S. I vaguely remember seeing a sign on the side of the truck last night that said that debit/​credit cards are accepted, though there is a small fee — maybe $.25? — added to the total if you use one. I paid with cash last night.)
