Best rent a car option in Orlando Airport area

Rented from Sixt at their location near Orlando International Airport. I have to give the customer service there 2-​stars — there was one attendant with several customers waiting for an extended period of time while a 2^nd staff member was folding papers of some sort. Someone finally asked if she or someone else could help, and she went and fetched another agent. Check in took way too much time, and the attitude was aloof. Here’s a clue — when you give customer service in the land of Disney, there is a significantly excellent local standard. Step it up.
The location itself was sort of dingy. There were seats outside in case you had to wait, but they were in disarray and looked like they could use a good scrubbing.
The car itself came at a good price, was clean, everything worked. Drop off was quick and super-​easy, so 4 stars for that.
…which equals 3 stars.

Fantastic rental experience. Top-​notch vehicle selection and prices that don’t make you hate upgrading to something extra nice.
I only heard of Sixt recently (how did I not know of them sooner??) and have already rented three times, and plan to rent from them any time I travel to a location they have a branch.
The reason for my review is this — –I rented a Tahoe in the Orlando branch, thinking I’d need to return to NY the following week, then back down to FL. Well, my meeting was changed to the following week and thus, I needed the vehicle longer. They’re able to give a few extra days over the phone, but understandably, their policy is that if you need to extend a vehicle for a period of more than a few days you need to come in to the branch and re-​sign for the vehicle. Well, they understood that I was over 2 hours away so when they reached out to find out how the trip was going, they were able to extend me for the week I needed.
Their policies are fine, but what was great is that they saw the situation and how reasonable it was to help me out. They put the customer ahead of their normal procedure, and that in my mind is one thing that makes a really good company.
I look forward to renting from Sixt indefinitely in the future. Cheers!

We seriously had a great experience with this rental company, the prices were great for the luxury cars we rented. We got picked up by a Mercedes sprinter van which was nice and clean, when we got there we got help with our bags and the place is nice and cool modern look. All the attendants were really nice and helpful. Loved their uniforms too! We had a Yukon for the first 2 days but sisters had to leave early so took it back to get a smaller car since we did not need the big SUV. They gave us a 3series BMW without us asking for it and they pro rated the cost. Fast and easy process when returning and only charge what was agreed on. I will definitely rent only from them on future vacations. They had a great variety of luxury vehicles for a great price. Glad to have chosen them.

The rental was Perfectly easy from Seattle Airport. We Rented a practically brand new Suburban (the Red Beast!).
It was a great vehicle for 6 – 7 of us and with so many bells and whistles, it was as easy as it could be to maneuver through the tight Seattle streets. All that for a very reasonable price. Thanks

Prices were the best we could find at MCO, and the shuttle came quickly so the off-​airport location wasn’t a problem. The text I received directing me to the shuttle pick-​up point was helpful.
We new in advance that we might get the «…or equivalent» vehicle, and were happy with the vehicle we received.
Staff we interacted with was friendly and efficient. No attempt to up-​sell us or get us to add insurance, and no surprise charges on the invoice. There was not actually a dedicated «express» check-​in line as the emails I received had led me to believe, but the line wasn’t too bad so it wasn’t a problem.

If I could zero stars, I would. After travel from the airport in a shuttle, we made it to Sixt. Waiting in a non air condition stuffed room for 30+ minutes, we got to the counter. We made reservations 4 months ago for a FULL size SUV and they told us they weren’t any available, they were overbooked! What?!? So we had to downgrade. With barely any discount. Will stick to Almo or enterprise.

Good car rental in general. I rented in Istanbul and they gave me a bit of a problem for gas. Pretty sure that they overcharged me by a long shot.

I am ashamed to say that I used this company to rent a car out of Minneapolis/​St. Paul airport. This company left me stranded at 11:30 pm in a strange airport. My prior reservation stated my arrival date and time.
A phone at the (unstaffed) rental kiosk stated that I could reach help by picking up the handset. The phone rang and after and period of time I was informed no one was available to take my call. I was directed to a «general delivery» voice-​mail box.
When I attended to contact staff regarding this incident later on, my customer service agent Alex was immature, unhelpful, and most certainly unsympathetic. I encourage anyone looking to rent a car to seek a different company!

I would give them ZERO stars if I could!!! $ 8 a Gallon for gas!!! From beginning until the very end they were horrific! It began on Saturday when I picked up the vehicle. I made a reservation one week prior via the Sixt website. Our reservation was for pick up at 1pm but after numerous flight delays due to the holiday traffic we didn’t not arrive until 7pm. The rep told me I didn’t have a reservation when I gave him my credit card and drivers license. I explained I am certain I made one, which was prepaid, a week ago. He told me it must be at another location and asked me to «step aside» so he could help someone else! I couldn’t believe the lack of empathy/​service.
Frustrated I searched through my emails via my phone looking for my flight confirmation. I assumed the rep was right… I must have accidentally made my reservation at another location. However once I found my reservation confirmation guess what it confirmed? My reservation was indeed made for their location! Go figure. Here I was ready to blame myself when it was the «customer service» rep who was in error!
So I jump back in line and luck would have I get the exact same rep the second go round. I should him my reservation number and he magically finds my reservation. Strange.
However they no longer have the car I reserved (or maybe he just switched me out of my car in an effort to punish me for finding my reservation. I’ll never know). He puts us in a small Audi A3. I explained the reserved vehicle was a larger Mercedes and he said the reservation was for the Mercedes or «similar».
We are a family of 4 with 4 large suitcases for a 7 day vacation… The car was a nightmare due to it being so small! We had suitcases on laps… Just a headache.
But the real kicker was the return. We barely drive anywhere and when we return the gas was down 5 gallons. I had originally stopped at the gas station near the rental car location but the pumps were not working. Pressed for time to get to our cruise shuttle I decided to pay for the gas thru the rental car company– HUGE MISTAKE. I was certainly expecting and willing to pay but I was completely surprised to find out that they’d be charging me $ 8 A GALLON FOR GAS!!! Unbelievable!!! I won’t be back!

Prepaid for a Mercedes SLK online and the website took our payment but when we went to pick up the car were told we couldn’t use the debit card for the premium car even though the debit is also a visa.
Frustrating to say the least especially since it’s a local rental

Ease of getting to: no problem but it is off the airport campus. Just hop on their dedicated shuttle from the baggage claim area.
Car: they didn’t have the car I was hoping for in the premium class probably due to the holidays. Told they only had an Audi A3 (though I overheard the counter next to me saying they had another car in my class). Got to the car, it was an A4 (which is a class higher — I’ll take it). The car had some wear on it and the smell of smoke and cleaners. But overall the car was clean and everything was well documented in the Sixt app which I liked — no need for a walk around and extra paperwork. I didn’t have any issues with car whatsoever and was fun to drive.
Service: probably the only thing that kept me from rating higher. Check-​in staff seemed like they hated their jobs (maybe it was because of the holidays), but at least they didn’t try to upsell me anything. It was pretty quick in/​out.
Extras: you have an hr grace period if you’re running a little late which is nice. I’ve had other rentals where the grace period was 30min.
Overall: for the future, I think I’d only rent from this location if I got a good deal. Otherwise, I’d probably stick with something on the airport campus just to be safe with making flights on time and such.

While researching cheap car rentals in Orlando I ran across Sixt. Initially very excited as they had a C Class Mercedes (or equivalent) on special for $ 30 a day which I promptly prepaid for. Then read some of the other reviews and got nervous that I had made a mistake. On to the review:
Shortly after landing in Orlando I received a txt from Sixt explaining how to find the shuttle. A nice touch when in an unfamiliar airport.
By using their app I was able to pick my exact car 30 minutes before my scheduled pickup time. So that anxiety you have while fast walking thru the airport that your C-​Class Mercedes you booked might be gone and you end up with the «equivalent» was removed from the equation. While still sitting on the plane rolling on the Tarmac I picked my Brand New C-​class with only 2400 miles on it from a huge list of available cars.
Yes it is off airport so you have to take a short shuttle. I found this a plus as it made the fees per day a good bit cheaper than an airport company. Also after you book an airport rental you are still taking a shuttle to the cars so what’s the difference.
Also with the app I was able to track the 2 running shuttles to see where they were in live time. One arrived within minutes. Driver offered everybody complimentary bottled water which again was a nice touch.
It was busy and I probably had to wait 5 – 7 minutes to reach counter. No hard sell on the insurance. Told them my Personal insurance and credit card covered and that was it. Walked outside and within 2 minutes Beautiful Mercedes pulls up
Car was brand new as advertised. Had a great time just driving the car in general. Throw in universal studios and a side trip to swim with the manatees and it was a great trip.
Upon returning car to Sixt I was worried about delay getting to airport for flight. — I was literally checked in and on a shuttle back to airport within 2 minutes.
Final bill just received by email and no surprises. The amount I prepaid was exactly what my final bill was.
Note: I read through all of their policies before renting and understood that changes to reservation would be a fee and cancellation would cost me most of the reservation Id already paid. The rules are basically like an airline. If you want the cheapest rate you don’t have the option of flexibility. If you need more flexibility then like an airline you must buy a much more expensive ticket.
I absolutely will use Sixt again anytime i need a rental

Best customer service, best selection of cars and the nicest team you will find at a rental car company. I’ve rented from this company twice and both times the cars have been awesome.
The first time I got Cadillac ATS which only had 800 miles on it so it was almost NEW!
My second rental was a BMW 328 and it only had 75 miles on it. This car was totally brand new I was the first person to drive this car!
They have an awesome reward program which pays off. The rates are super reasonable and the vehicles they have are hands down better than any other car rental company around.

Rented from Sixt after a cancelled flight ended up routing us to Orlando instead of Tampa. Booked the car two days before at a very reasonable price. We were returning the car in Tampa and I have typically encountered exorbitant prices when you return to different airports but that was not the case here. The Sixt rental car facility is not onsite at the airport. It only took about 10 minutes for our shuttle to arrive and about 5 minutes to get to the offsite rental site. The rental experience was quick as well. The car was clean and did not have any damage.

I have rented cars in Jamaica and Mexico.
Yet for the first time in US I got scammed to pay for a pre-​existing damage.
Make sure you take photos from every angle!
The person I spoke on the phone was exceptionally (even for Florida) rude and advised me to learn to read the small print when I rent a car (he was speaking with a heavy Spanish accent).
Typical Florida scam! You get what you pay for — go to Enterprise or Hertz instead!

DON’T.
Read the reviews, you are taking a big chance here. Very low stock of advertised cars — you will likely drive away with a Scion. OR, they will tell you that «you reserved a class, not a car”-very bad customer service, rude, and the only thing they will offer you are these rude clichés.
Reserving a 4 door Mercedes only got me a two door on standard car on arrival.
Overall, I wouldn’t rent here because of the rudeness.
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS EXPRESS HERE, throw away all the barcodes and prep work you did for a speedy transaction, these folks will not even establish eye contact with you when you walk in.

I had booked a reservation through kayak weeks in advance of my flight down here in Orlando. I decided to give sixt a try after reading their reviews. I decided to go with their PCAR category at the time seeing how it was even cheaper than their economic cars (6 days totaling ~$ 193).
It took us bit of walking to find the correct van stall spot in the airport as it seems like there are multiple places they can park, I found our van parked at A12 since it was lateish at the time ~10pm the van was empty. The front office is very new and modern given that they just opened a few years ago here.
Unfortunately upon arrival they did run out the car in the category and had to give us a Scion FRS instead, not a deal breaker but mildly disappointed didn’t get to try out an Audi or BMW. Also I thought the car could have been better maintained. Seemed like the alignment were off while we were driving it as it did make some cranking noise during braking and turning for a 7700+ miles car, the previous drivers most likely drove it really hard to let the car condition deteriorate. The representative was semi-​hard selling on the additional insurance and fueling options but after a couple firm ‘No’ he did let it go.
Also before I left the trip I had signed up for their Express checkout by pre-​filling the required information online. I thought it would be like Avis/​Hertz or Dollar rental members where the key and rental information would already be in the car upon arrival. Unfortunately I still had to go through a check-​in process which I thought was again a bit of misleading or at least miscommunication to me
Another person mentioned the free bottled water and we helped ourselves to couple bottles as well. There’s a small fridge to the corner with free coffee on top of the counter.
My trip had a different drop off point in Tampa, during return it was pretty straightforward and painless the van came and picked us up within a minute after getting off the car in a heavy thunderstorm. Glad they had covering in their locations since Florida thunderstorms are so unpredictable.
Overall its a decent experience, given that it was already late during our arrival we didn’t have to wait too long. Reasonable prices and if they could improve on their inventory to match the reservation more closely I would definitely recommend it but from my experience the German rental company Sixt doesn’t seem to be much different than your average budget car rental company

Someone cue in the lights and pumping techno! Thats the dynamic of Sixt rent a car, the office space is jumping! And you can get as much free Dasani as you’d like!
This is my second time renting from Sixt and I will continue to patronize this business. On both occasions Sixt offered us, not only, the lowest price but also the nicer, newer cars at this low price.
One thing I do notice about Sixt is they run out of cars often. Each time I’ve rented from them I end up driving out the lot with a car I didnt book. First time we booked an altima and when we got there they didn’t have any more so they gave us a 2015 Infiniti (4 door). Yes the car was more luxurious but it was also a more expensive on gas.
I had the same issue with my booking this time around. We specifically booked a 4 door altima/​jetta and when we arrived were told they didn’t have anymore small cars. We got an upgrade (free) to a volvo suv, which I made sure was 4 cylinder. The fact tbat we didnt get the car we requested pissed me off and I don’t particularly like driving SUVs, they are too big in my opinion. We were told we’d have to call at 9am to see if they had a smaller car and if so, drive back to the airport to switch them. Well I wasn’t about to waste any of my vacation time running back and forth to Sixt so we just decided to keep it.
The car drove well, and was good on gas. We drove to Miami, Clermont, Groveland, Orlando and everywhere in between and filled up 1 and a half times.
The return process was very smooth and quick. We were on our way to the airport within five minutes.

I hate car rental places. They always trying to upsell and give you attitude when you don’t go along with them.
Not this place! They have some of the best pricing in the area and they don’t give you a lot of issues! They still tried to upsell with their insurance, but were really respectful when we told them that we got ours through Expedia.
They have a shuttle from the airport, just make sure to call them. Sixt is a German company and like German cars they bring you the quality. Loved my experience with them.
