Signature Rent A Car

Signature also goes by Economy Rent A Car. Rented a car 3 weeks in advance at a good rate. Got to airport and called to get a shuttle pick-up…the on-​hold music was forever. Called from my cell phone in hopes a shuttle would pass — same thing. Took a taxi to the Signature/​Economy Rent A Car. When I got there, I was informed they had absolutely no cars to rent but they would help me get a car elsewhere — AT TWICE THE COST!!! I asked about why they didn’t answer their phone and the reply was «We are so busy helping customers.» When asked about the shuttle they replied «They are circling all the time to/​from the airport.» I was there about 15 minutes while they try to get me a better deal elsewhere… when I was leaving I noticed (and mentioned) the phone had not rang once since I was there. On the way back to the airport in the shuttle — I discovered the instructions were to only drop-​off but DO NOT PICK-​UP (two separate places). Signature/Economy’s method to deal with patrons is to not let them know prior to arrival there is a potential problem, ignore all the calls, and avoid picking up potential upset customers.
It is a sham!!!

Good experience on my end. I didn’t deal with the hard upsell tactics. I was in and out fairly quick. All the agents actually seemed nice, so although I was a little nervous when I read the reviews while on the shuttle, everything was actually just fine.

I rent a car a month all over the east coast normally with the Major Car Rental Companies, Alamo, Budget, Enterprise etc. On My trip last week to Orlando I used PriceLine & was awarded the best deal thru Signature-​Economy in Orlando. I thought it might be different to try a smaller-​local outfit. The experience started out on a positive note as the Transport Bus picked Me up rite on time but as soon as I was dropped off at the Rental Office things went SOUR IMMEDIATELY! Long lines, Customers visually shaken, a few yelling & 1 Lady in tears. The majority of the staff were Unfriendly & Frustrated. A copy of Your insurance coverage limits was required, Or You might as well say the entire policy. They Wld NOT accept any phone calls from Your insurance company for Valadation. I have NEVER seen such a thing & the only alternative was to purchase their insurance at $ 22.00 p day! A RIP OFF! I called My Carrier & Luckily they emailed a copy of My policy to Signature –Economy. The DO NOT HAVE a FAX MACHINE per the Customer Reps. I find that hard to believe! It was a MESS to say the least. After 85 minutes when I completed ‘The Chamber of Horrors’ & they pointed to My car it was NOT what I rented. By then I was too irritated, frustrated & mad to fight that battle so I ENTIRE amount back to My Credit Card Company. I DO OWE the majority of the bill but I REFUSE to be Bullied & Forced into a transaction that was HIDDEN! Time will tell. To sum it up, stick with the PRO’s. These Folks were a REAL DISAPPOINTMENT to say the least. Honestly, things were such a mess, Customers upset, Long lines, Bad attitudes etc etc I felt ‘Sorry’ for most of the Employees. WARNING!!! This is a scam like I have NEVER seen!!! They would not honor orbitz booked and paid prices!!! Orbitz called and the manager REFUSED to talk to them. I am nor working to get refund from Orbitz. Lots of hidden fees. TOTAL RIP OFF! They get you there and pressure sell you.

I really wish I could give negative stars. I can’t imagine any rating greater than 1 is a legit rating and is not a rating from an inside the company source.
We put in our reservation over a month ago. Thought it was crazy cheap and should have known.
1^st. they go by Economy Rental Cars
2^nd. They advertise its a rental from the airport. There was a shuttle that picked you up after having to call and determining where to go for the shuttle because nothing is advertised in the airport. Hind site I should have used one of the 15 companies actually at the airport but who know until we arrived.
3. The lines were crazy long because you could just see and hear the unforgiving and unrelentless up selling going on at every station.
4. Once I got up there everything was going smooth, got the keys, and then that’s when crazy started to happen.
— we just need to verify your insurance. I hand the guy my insurance card.
— Florida is an at fault state and I don’t see that you have Loss of Use Coverage
— what is loss of use — it’s a required coverage in Florida that if you get in an accident they will pay for having the car out of commission until it’s repaired
— I ask is it required by Florida? Yes. Then it’s covered by my insurance because law states once I pass state license my insurance picks up the required coverage for that state.
— he asked me to call my insurance company to confirm. I call my insurance company and the gentleman in after hours confirms that is correct. I tell the economy guy and he says he can’t talk to him. I told him I have him on the phone and they can verify with you. Sorry I can’t talk to him. I explained I did what he asked me to do. I explained that I can give permission for him to speak to my insurance company. He absolutely refused.
— needless to say he asked for the keys back and asked me to leave. The cost of the car doubled in price from what I set my reservation for online. BAIT AND SWITCH… please beware

I reserved a rental car from Economy Rent A Car on 12/​23/​2015 that would be used from 01/​15/​2016 to 01/​24/​2016. When I arrived at MCO airport (on time), I was informed that they had rented out my reservation, no cars were available and that I would have to pay $ 71.81 extra to rent with another company.
This shameful company has refused to refund the documented difference, so I have reported them to the Better Business Bureau, and I encourage others that experienced this issue to do the same.

Paid for parking and shuttle service to airport. They made us park blocks away and walk back. Then waiting at airport over an hour to be picked up in a small bus and not everybody fit. Tried to leave us there but we demanded to squeeze in. Now waiting in line to get car back. Let’s see how long that takes. Do not use this place!

DO NOT RENT A CAR FROM THIS PLACE!!! You have been warned! As if the other 140 reviews that gave this place a 1 out of 5 stars wasn’t already enough to turn you away!
Booked my car a month and a half before our travel date. Booked a full size SUV and when we arrived, they did not have any SUV’s left. We had a party of 4 but they still kept offering us a convertible! Customer service is not in anyone’s vocabulary at this place! They had about 6 – 8 people behind the counter that just look at you and laugh and speak to each other in Spanish and no one wants to help! I have no idea how they are still in business!

Save yourself the trouble and rent somewhere else…
I was quoted for 5 days $ 70 + tax and fees, I thought to myself cool probably be like $ 150 total… Nope was about 230 $!!
All the hidden fees is ridiculous «facility fee», «energy fee», «Floridia fee», «airport fee», I kid you not there’s like 8 lines of different fees…
In addition $ 19 a day for insurance was rape! Usually places charge about $ 10 a day.
I did like that the gentlemen gave us the option of $ 25 unlimited tolls, and $ 30 gas cover (so you don’t have to fill up the gas), but gas was under 2 dollars a gallon so I opted not to have that fee.
Now on to more cons…
I reserved an economic gas saving car. They said they were out and were trying to sell me on a mustang convertible for an extra $ 5 a day… I told him no, so he had to check «the back.» He came back with a turbo dodge… I went ahead and took it.
VERY IMPORTANT VERY IMPORTANT! Make sure you thoroughly examine the car inside and out, because they will charge you for damages. Before I left the lot, I had to notify them that there was scrapes on the bumper, also the visor was missing inside the car so I wouldn’t be charged. In addition the gas was only ¾ full…
They just said «oh, I’ll note that down.»
Never again.

If u choose to be sure to have a copy of your insurance policy ready!

If there is negative star, I’m definitely going to give it to this company. Never rent a car there. I find a rate for 100/​7day pay 10/​day extra for under 25, pay 30/​7days for toll. Total is 200 not include tax. They charged me 251. When I return the car they say your deposit is back to your account, I check and it was there. Next day the money’s gone. I call them but they say «I see you invoice and you already paid, we don’t do refund or return on credit card» (WTH is that?).
In conclusion, just don’t rent there. Other companies may have a better and cleaner way to do business for you.

If I could award this place no stars, trust me I would. I just had the worst experience!
My parents rented us an SUV and we even had mentioned that we were going to arrive very late in the night due to our flight. However, they not only tried to sell us on some expensive «deals», they also didn’t have our car for us! They only had regular sedans as well as luxury SUVs that they would not give us without an incredibly hiked up price. Afterwards, when we decided on a car, they informed us that this car was gone as well.
Definitely would not recommend this place. Incredibly horrible service and definitely not willing to work with customers. Spend your money elsewhere. It isn’t worth all the headache that you are going to get after trying to reason at the counter.

This company picked the wrong dude to mess with…
I was here on 12÷9÷2015 with my family of 4. I have NEVER been so frustrated and upset with a business in my life. Upon arrival, you will be greeted with a trendy lobby with décor that reminds me of your local city night club complete with that annoying trance house music. The staff LOOKS professional but is far from it…
This place is a scam and I am in contact with proper entities in regards to:
1. bait and switch (they will make up arbitrary «down payments» if you don’t have proper identification or insurance forms“
2. fraud (they will charge you for existing damage to vehicles). They basically corner a customer by having multiple staff members circle the car once you bring it back. After inspecting it, they will snap photos of dents, scratches, etc. The group of employees then returns to the lobby and presents the customer with a bill for astronomical repairs. I am sure with digging I will find that the repair company is someone connected to the rental company.
3. They will essentially bully you into buying upgraded insurance even though your insurance is more than sufficient. If you do not buy the upgrade, they will charge you a safety deposit of $ 500-​$ 3000 (depending on your skin color or nationality).
This business clearly has no ethics, morals, or professionalism.
I hope this review does not fall on deaf ears with potential customers. DO NOT GO HERE

This place is scamming so hard. Long wait times at the airport and at the off airport location are the least of your problems with this business.
They kept saying «Florida is a no fault state» as a rebuttal to me wanting to use my credit card insurance to cover the car. They then asked for my insurance policy print out because I refused to buy their insurance. I asked why Florida is different and if their laws are different from other states as I have used my credit card insurance to cover rental cars in multiple other states. The man there kept dodging my questions and had me sign an electronic signature pad with no total and no information. When I provided him with an electronic copy of my personal auto insurance that does cover rental vehicles (which I didn’t think he expected me to be able to produce), he swiped my credit card to put a $ 500 hold that has still not dropped off even though this was 4 days ago and I ended up leaving and cancelling my rental after asking for a refund.
Agents were very bullying and threatening and kept repeating that I would have to pay $ 50/​day if I was to return to the airport. Ended up going back to the airport and it was completely worth it. Paid a little more ($ 27/​day) at the last minute to rent with Alamo with 100% peace of mind. I declined their insurance, explaining I had my own and they did not demand to see documents or place any strange holds on my credit card.
I think this business baits in travelers on a budget with low prices and it ends up costing much more than national chains and being a massive inconvenience. Run away from this place!!! Going to contact Expedia and ask them to please remove this company from their website.

First, the positives. The car was exactly what was advertised, clean, new and efficient. The drop off process was easy as well.
The NEGATIVES: read the fine print!!! They charge you $ 25 a day extra for insurance even if you have full coverage of your own already. This trimmed my honeymoon budget by way more than expected and was truly saddening as I’ve been saving every penny for this special trip.
Juan (I think his name was) gave me a small discount because of the circumstance, but still when every penny counts, it still stung.

Car was fine– clean and it worked fine so stars for that. No problems with insurance issues like other reviewers.
Agent at front desk said I could add a spouse for free. However, since we had different last names, he wouldn’t do it. He asked why I didn’t take my husband’s last name and said it was weird. He might have been joking?
They said shuttles were every 15 minutes. We waiting 45 minutes for the shuttle upon arrival and 30 minutes for shuttle to get back to the airport. The car lot is a bit far from the airport.
Had an issue with the billing but the company got in touch with me and offered to make it right.

Don’t go with this car rental agency. Awful awful awful. After standing in line for 45 min (btw no one was in front of me except the people being helped at the desk), I was told I needed to give them a $ 1000 deposit despite having proof of full coverage insurance through both progressive and Amex. They are a complete joke of a company with arrogant staff to top it off. Needless to say, I decided to take my business elsewhere. As I was being shuttled back, I overheard a bunch of people complaining as well. They were booked at $ 117 for the week and ended up paying $ 350. Glad I was smarter! Winning!
Save your time and trust me, just go elsewhere. Wish I could give them negative stars for wasting my time.

AKA — Economy Rent A Car
These guys are complete scam artists. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. You will think you booked a great deal, only to realize you have to wait an hour for a shuttle to take you to their off-​site counter. Then you will be presented with a bill that is at least twice the rate you originally booked. Then you will be asked to show a full insurance form (which you won’t have because who does?!). At that point, you’ll be told that you need to buy their insurance or place a minimum $ 1000 hold on your credit card.
Then the «manager» will start to negotiate a price with you. It’s like buying a car, I swear. All the while up selling and blaming YOU for not reading all the terms and conditions ahead of time.
Short story: you will not get the deal you think you got, will receive poor customer service, and will be lied to. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. I took the shuttle back to the airport and
I was able to book a better car, for a better price, AT THE AIRPORT… And got great customer service! This company is a scam, don’t waste your time.

Unlike other reviewers we were able to call the rental company using those weird rental propaganda like telephones in the airport to verify where the shuttle would be.
Now, we reserved our «economy class» vehicle months ahead at one rate. When we arrived to pick up our vehicle the price dramatically increased– how you ask?
— mandatory insurance at $ 22.00
— 10% airport sales tax
— Florida fee per day
My first issue is being told that insurance is mandatory when thats total bullshit. I’ve used enterprise and Avis and was able to use my credit card.
Our rental went from $ 190 for 6 days to $ 350.
Our advise to future Florida visitors shop around, call ahead, don’t fall for bullshit or when possible drive down so you’re not robbed by these companies robbing families just trying to have a nice vacation.
