Specialties

Rice & Beans Cocina Latina is more than just food, is great food at a great price in a clean and nice environment.

Our customers are always #1. Having that in mind, our service is very good compare to expensive restaurant. Remember, here you are getting table service for only $ 6.89.

Our secret is Passion, an important element for any business to succeed. We wanted to bring back the way our grandmothers cooked, that is the reason why we don’t serve anything that have being previously frozen, it’s all cooked right here all day long.

Our menu has a great variety of dishes, starting with our Lunch Special, that includes: 4 rices & 6 meats to choose from, black or red beans, sweet plantains or yucca and an optional salad. Sandwiches, Mofongos, Steaks, Chicken and Fish. Homemade soups, empanadas, Tropical shakes, like mango, papaya and much more… Just think, we have every little craving you might have for «Latin Food».

Visit us, we won’t let you down :)

History

Established in 2008.

Coming from New Jersey to Florida, and moving to Orange county where the hispanic population is growing every day. Laz & Kenia Gonzalez include themself among the newly arrived and among the swelling number of their etnic.

After coming to Orlando in 2004 from their longtime home in New Jersey, the cuban native and his Dominican-born wife Kenia, opened a Coffee Shop in Altamonte Springs. But what they really wanted to do was to open and run a Latin Restaurant based on the lack of them, comparing to New Jersey.

They saw the opportunity, and encouraged by friends and members of their church, their dream became a reality by opening Rice & Beans Cocina Latina in Waterford Lakes-2008 & their second location in The Loop (Hunter’s Creek Area) John Young Pkwy & Osceola Pkwy in 2010.

Laz is still employed by the Airlines, leaving most of the day-to-day restaurant business to his wife Kenia. She runs a very tight Latin kitchen, training every single one of her employees to ensure consistency.

Business Owner

Rice & Beans Cocina Latina is an Orlando Cuban restaurant, family owned and operated by Laz Gonzalez, native of Cuba, and his Dominican-born wife Kenia Gonzalez.

Encouraged by friends, family and members of their church Metro, they decided to make their dream a reality. In 2008 they opened their first location in Waterford Lakes, with the help of family and a few employees. The dishes are authentic Cuban-Dominican recipes passed down from friends, mothers and grandmothers. Opening day, they were overwhelmed by the response of their customers… they had a full house! Word-of-mouth has brought Rice & Beans Cocina Latina to where it is today.

Within their first year of operation, they earned the reputation for being one of the top three «Best Latin Food» in Central Florida, by My City Eats Magazine, and have been reviewed by two of the most reputable food critics in Orlando, Heather Mcpherson of the Orlando Sentinel and Scott Joseph of Orlando Home & Leisure Magazine.
