Pounder’s Chicken Ranch

I have been to Pounders a good many times back in my day. I never remembered particularly wanting to go, but I DID want to drink, and that was easy to get away with. This place definitely qualifies as a college dive bar, complete with the sticky floors, 2 inches of water (I hope) in the bathroom, packed wall to wall, and a whole lot of freshman.
Supposedly they once served food at this place during the day, but I personally would never eat anything from a place like this. On certain nights they feature «hunch punch» which is served out of a trash can, and it always takes a while to make your way to the bar. This place isn’t completely terrible, I would recommend if you are looking to experience a true freshman type bar, but other than that I would advise against wearing flip flops.

Pounder’s was once cool in my book… back when I was a freshman in college, wanted to fit in and went to all of my sorority’s social functions. Fast forward five years and I no longer can stand to be anywhere near this dive bar slash «chicken ranch» what ever that means.
During the day Pounder’s is a bar and wing house type place. At night it’s transformed into a club-​like atmosphere where college kids come to party and drink the night away. You will find a lot of Greek organizations here during the school year because this is where most of them have their social functions at.
The beer is cheap, and tastes like it. The food is cheap, and also tastes like it. Their drinks and shots are also affordable, but the patrons who come here take away from your experience. Most people are drunk, loud and obnoxious.
During the week, each night has a different theme, special or something happening. Beer pong and flip cup competitions are said to happen here from time to time although I’ve never witnessed it.
Overall, this is definitely a place for college students. However, if you don’t fall into that category you are better off avoiding this place and would probably stick out like sore thumb any way.
