Description

Specialties

Local Color Art Studio is an educational facility dedicated to providing an array of tools to the youth and adults of our community for engaging the senses and exploring the nature of self expression through the creative spirit of the arts and crafts.

History

Established in 2001.

LCAS was born out of the recognition and reaction to the void left by years of cuts to the art programs in and by the public school system. As those cuts continued, Nancy N Brown left her twenty years as an award winning art teacher in that system on a mission to restore and enhance art education to the level appropriate for today’s times. With the support of her husband, Sonny Brown, her family and friends, LCAS quietly opened it’s doors in 2001 in the old Cornell Tile warehouse building on Edgewater Drive in Orlando, FL. (College Park). There was an immediate positive response to the studios offering of after school art classes. The need was established and Local Color Art Studio began its quest to prove that art has a much more significant role to play in our daily lives as it relates to education and the everyday appreciation of our surroundings and environment.

Now, renowned for its excellence, LCAS continues to move forward with embracing and expounding upon its Summer Art Camp.
