Highly overpriced and a limited menu. Convenient if you are staying at the hotel but look elsewhere if you are able. Just not worth the price.

Dinner May 31 Restaurant is located adjacent to the hotel. So, its super convenient if you’re staying at the hotel and of course it is priced accordingly. So here are my thoughts on this restaurant GOOD’S: — Crab Cake appetizer — mostly crab meat and very flavorful, nice sauce — Shrimp Cocktail — shrimp were huge and juicy — Side dish of Asparagus — large and cooked perfectly BAD’s: — Price was way more than food was worth — all of it! — Sides were VERYSMALL, almost too small to really share — Water glasses were small and needed refilled way too often CONFUSING: — Bread was interesting — a fresh baked roll with cheese, whihc was nice. But, they served it with butter — and that didn’t go well together. Maybe a honey inspired drizzle would have been better? DISAPPOINTING: — I ordered the $ 62 Tomahawk Ribeye(which was more bone than steak) and ordered it medium rare. I ate around the edges and then cut into the center and it was between Medium and Well done(no red at all in center). When I showed this to the waiter as he was taking my plate, I asked him what temperature this was — he said Medium Plus. Now I didn’t want another steak nor was I dissatisfied with what I ate, but I at least expected a manger to come over or an offer for another steak or a free dessert or something.

I don’t think anyone would choose to go to this restaurant if we weren’t stuck at the Marriott for a convention. It’s definitely overpriced, but so is everything else at this enormous hotel. But then, if you’re stuck at this Marriott, you might be expensing the dinner anyway so you might as well go for it if you are craving steak(or scallops — see below). While the rest of my party started with the hard liquor, to retain my dignity throughout the evening I started with a glass of wine. I will say that they poured a nice sized glass of wine. I ordered the scallop appetizer and the scallops(and the interesting sauce) were very good. Others ordered the caprese salad which did not appear impressive to me. One person ordered mussels and raved about them but I didnt try one. Here you order your steak a la cart and the sides family style. My filet arrived and it wasn’t the nicest cut, but the other filet that was served looked nicer. As for the sides, we ordered scalloped potatoes(good), sweet potato mash(tasty — but then again when is sweet potato ever not tasty), hash browns(ok but they came out too breakfasty for my taste), mushrooms, asparagus, and grits. Don’t get the grits. It’s just a novelty. The asparagus were giant sized and I think smaller asparagus is better. I was also surprised at how few veggie options there were in contrast to potato options. I think we ordered the only two non-potato veggie options on the menu. One note of humor. The plates here are curved upward and the flatware is modern. If you put your knife down on your plate it will slide into your food and the handle will shmutzy. This didn’t just happen to me, it happened to all 7 of us. It makes me wonder if the manager has ever sat down and eaten in his or her own restaurant. This is a place for business dinners and it’s distracting when you can’t figure out where to put your knife! Overall the food was good but very expensive. For the money, I’d rather go somewhere else. Of course if you are stuck at a convention, it works.
